@@TheBigFishEnergy Nice ! I usually bake the trouts I fish with all the yummy filling, which is a mix of veggies, salt and finely chopped bred 😋 (I'm Italian and my english is a bit weird, sorry 😅)
Very beautiful fish, great catch, especially in the cold conditions ,great job and great video, many probably would have never seen one, thanks for the video
@playtime6909 the drive home was one of the craziest snow storms I have ever experienced, and you could not wipe the smile off my face Haha.thanks for the comment!
Beaver Dam tip up. Formally known as Artic Fisherman. Made in Beaver Dam, WI. The grease packed shaft spindle was patented by my great uncle Leroy. I have OG wood one's from my Grandpa and Dad that are still catching fish from the 70's and 80's. Still with cork hook holders and engraved name plates.
@@TheBigFishEnergy thank you for acknowledging. If you are interested in how the "tip up" became a thing it literally started in a little town called Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Back then the lake was teeming with Walleye and Northern Pike. My grandpa and his friends would sit and play Euchre and watch for flags using binoculars.
I have a 6pack of them I got from my father. Long before they were made serviceable. These ones are old stock, still with the spindle and spool soldered together. They're a pain to repack with grease, but once a year maintnence will keep them going strong for another 50years.
"Ohh My Good God", unreal instead of unfkn believable, thank you for choosing the words carefully. No Swearing. Listening to good natural expressions after a long time unlike other's. Thank you for not using cuzz words. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! As explained to others I use a black dacron main line and the 2-3ft of clear flurocarbon leader before my hook. The fight with this fish was over 5 minutes long, and I can only make the clip 60 seconds for shorts. Make sense? You can see both lines go in the water when I drop the bait down
@TheBigFishEnergy Usually Catfish or Snakehead on freshwater, since those are abundant here. Whenever I get to go sea fishing, it's always off-season. (I haven't really had much chance to go fishing in Europe)
I was wondering if anyone fished Possumtown Park located in Piscataway, NJ. Years ago we released some pike caught in Lake Musconetcong through the ice. That spring we saw 4” lings swimming in the tiny feeder stream. The story is those pike froze in the back of the truck on the way home and became alive when we got home, so we released them in to the pond (pool) area.
Thats interesting and have heard of things like that happening similar in my area, not necessarily in the winter but yeah, can make some smaller spots quite interesting. But no, I have never Fished there myself.
@@TheBigFishEnergy Absolutely, we are blessed. You can’t hardly drive ten miles most places in the state without coming across a trout stream of some sort. I’ve got 10 or 12 within a half hour of my house, but still, that Splake is a beautiful specimen.
Being from Wisconsin and actually living in Beaver Dam for a few years. (Where those tip ups are from). I have never heard of or knew that such a fish existed.
I was tracker beavers when I saw you from bushes. The way you nourished that tired fish by feeding it slices of lemon and dill made me realise you were going to release it back. You even build a fire to keep the fish warm. Fantastic stuff
❤ I heard trout, in general, are really good fish to catch and eat. However, ice fishing makes me so cold thinking about it, but when it comes to survival, I'll do almost anything.
Highly recommend trying to find a lake stocked with them man. Super fun fish to pursue. One day they could act like a Laker, next day could be like a brookie. Split personality lol
@@TheBigFishEnergy Just a classic style tip-up i guess, doesn't really have a name in my mind. Beaver Dam is a specific brand that does make tip-ups in this style, but they're really high quality.
You got that right brother. Even in this video, you're not seeing the other 7 mins of back and forth and fight that it out up, they are such cool trout
When I was younger, and I first started fishing meat, Ford Ontario, the first time I ever been there, my buddy took me up and we were sitting on the wharf on his van seat we took out of his van, and then all of a sudden my rod I was holding it falling asleep and doubled over on me. It was a 15 pound split was the most beautiful fish I’ve ever seen the colours and it was just crazy.
No iwas told by a friend shortly after this session back when I first started ice fishing.love the positive vibes you are passing in the fishing community! 😂
@@TheBigFishEnergy that was a jolly good-looking trout and made me hungry for a creamy lime or lemon condiment to accompany it 😅😅 some mini roast potatoes with some Buffalo cauliflower. Wilt some spinach down in the fish juice 5 minutes before serving.. Yum! 🙏🏽💦 My 25 and 28-year-old are chefs 😅 and my work entails Healthy Choice cooking each Wednesday. We love tossing around good food ideas! That there fish is a mighty fine conversation piece😅😅
I wish I live in a place where I could catch trout like this. Unfortunately for me, I live along Lake Erie so pretty much the only big fish that’s good eating are walleye. Trout are much more fun to catch; walleye feel like your dragging a log up from the bottom. I’ve only caught one trout, an 18 in rainbow when we went to Alaska a few years ago (we also caught some big sockeye salmon), but I’ve caught maybe around 12 or so rainbow trout with my hands before, in a small stream leading in from the lake, but you aren’t allowed to fish there (it’s less noticeable than using a rod and reel). Some that I’ve caught in it were small, but I did manage to catch like a 30 inch rainbow. I had to wrestle that thing to the ground and it was still trying to swing itself up and bite me😂
Thanks for the comment Cameron!wow,a trip to Alaska would be absolutely unreal! I'm jealous! There's deff some good fish in lake Erie, such a vast body of water. Thanks for watching brother!
Actually Bob, it is! this fish is stocked by the gov for us to fish them and eat them. Food provides life. Tell the lion to let the antelope live 🤷I will continue to selectively harvest fish to feed my family. Don't worry, everything is ok
The satisfaction feeling... Even when I'm fishing, got a fish even it small I feel like it worth it. But that big... I'm speechless... I know I got skill issue, no doubt about it.
The main line of my tip up is black dacron, and then I have about 2 feet of heavy fluro carbon to avoid getting bitten off and to also be more stealthy in the water. this fluro leader material is essentially invisible in the water.
