Thanks for the video :-) I'd be very interested to see how you do some og the more advanced panels. The barometer gauge and rise/fall thing :-) but also how to have the 0°C in the temperature panel. Cheers!
Thanks for this video. How did you put the Barometer panel together? I can see how to do a Stat visualization, but not how to get the bottom graph with the annotations and trend.
Great to see at the start of the video how we need to wait for things to start up. I've been thinking my HA has been crashing and not working all this time when installing things. HA could really do with a status bar just as in Microsoft etc to show progress of install.
Thanks again for this great video. Helped me to setup my first Grafana dashboard. It also made me realise that the naming of entities in my home assistant is all over the place, and it is really hard for me to find the right thing in the grafana visualisation dialogue. Did you ever have some advice on a proper naming scheme to adopt for home assistant? I could not find anything in your video list.
Worked perfectly, thanks. Is it maybe an idea to make a video about how to convert the total energy consumption to a daily measured one? Now for the DSMR you only log the total amount, but not what is daily used. I think you mentioned it in your video that you also had some graphs for daily use of energy?
@@SmartHomeJunkie you log the daily amount with a sensor in home assistant? In the configuration.yaml I presume? Can you show the code for such sensor?
@@SmartHomeJunkie ok.. from my meter I didn't got daily/weekly/monthly numbers... Only usage per hour, which is not always reliable. I use now utility meter integration as well on top of the same with a daily cycle, but doesn't seem to work. Maybe I am doing things wrong...
Question: how to add states history bar in Grafana? I tried almost all options but I failed. Like it has no data to display. What should be query and process? Thanks.
Wow video! thankyou for your time and all the information. I still have a question... du you have to be connected with computer continuously to get that information display in Grafana? I mean I have a Shelly EM and a Shelly1pm continuously connected. Or only display Grafana graphics just what you saved and so on. I like to test the Shelly EM in Grafana dashbord a full month when I returned home, possible? Thanks
Hello, thanks for this great video : very clear and precise. I conducted the setup without any trouble. Question: what about backups of this influxdb ? Note that currently I have my HA platforms backed-up to Google Drive with the great add-on Google Drive backup that works like a charm. Thanks, Bernard.
Thanks for prompt reply. Indeed full backup should take it. But I guess I need to proceed with creating a snapshot of the influxdb before the actual backup of HA. I will keep searching in that direction. Thanks again for the excellent knowledge you share with the community !
Hi, I love your videos. Just installed Influx and Grafana. But I have a different outcome in Influx as you have. At Measurements & Tags I do not see the entities as in shown in your video. I see a list of all possible characteristics. For instance: m2, KM/h, state, steps, Hz, Kwh. Any idea? Thanks
@@StefanWolfrum That might be the case. At my side it still works the same though. I must say that I do not use Grafana that much anymore since the Energy Dashboard is available in Home Assistant. I used Grafana mostly for getting insights in energy usage myself.
Thanx for de Video. I want to group the kwh data from the airco by month. Is it possible to group data in a bar chart by week, month, year. I can't find that.
Thanks! I dislike youtube movies with explanation on how to get things working. Mostly there boring or the maker loves himself more then the audience. Not to speak about how rapid there talking and like to here themselves. This is the first video i like, It has noting to do with my previous comment about other youtube tutorials. I succeeded to set up my HA with InfluxDb and Grafana after pausing this movie every now and awhile and got it working. Thanks again
Very nice and helpfull video. I have a question, does dis not worn out the memory card on a Raspberry Pi. The database from Grafana writes many time and could the memory card worn out
Thanks for guide. Do Grafana read all history from InfluxDB? Because when I reinstalled Grafana (but not InfluxDB) I only had the data from when I reinstalled Grafana.. even though InfluxDB had data more days back. Is this how it works?
my entities and sensors rnt loading and im not sure whats wrong with it my code looks the same and everything is really the same just wont populate any ideas?
Thank you for a great video! After following all the steps I'm getting success messages that everything is working, but I am not able to add anything or see states of my entities. What can I have missed? Using latest version of everything
hi. nice video. what's the trick of having the graph refreshed in web card view ? i made some graphs, put in a separate dashboard, tried to set current range to 30 days, but seems that the card is not updating and remains on that first interval i haven chosen. Tried also to remove &from....to...& but have succeeded only in showing without borders with this.
Not sure what's going on on your side. You should be able to change the interval and save the dashboard after that. When you save the dashboard you can tick a box to save the time range that you have chosen.
That might be the case. I had HA running on a Pi3b before and it was struggling to run smoothly. Not sure if it was because of Grafana though. I had loads of addons running. You can just try it. If it's too resource heavy you can just uninstall it again.
is it possible to download the log data of any connected switches status and also is it possible to create a graph to see the status change of the connected switch
I am a bit confused. I started out by downloading and installing Grafana and InfluxDB during the sequence of updates 2021.4x if I am correct there was mention of no longer needing to install InfluxDB as there would be DB by default in Home Assistant. Was I correct in this assumption? If I am then will Grafama work with the default DB?
I really recommend you to use Influxdb for Grafana because it's made especially for storing large amounts of data and is really efficient for Grafana. The default database is not that efficient.
Hi, how do I get buienradar outdoor temperature in here. I added buienradar and buienradar sensors and do see the weather on my dashboard though it is not a entity I think because in graphana it does not show up.
Your videos are great. My issue today is at 6 mins 32, after installing everything, and editing the config file.....then restarting, I don't see domains, I don't see any entities
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thank you for the reply. I clicked on log viewer and it says, the selected database does not have a syslog measurement...try changing the selected database or source.
Under the influxdb admin icon is a wrench for the configuration menu.......this was empty, I've tried adding the database details and it now says connected......are you able to write out what your details are, so I can double check I have my config right in influxdb please.
Just a comment: And this is why home assistant is amazing, yet frustrating for new users at the same time. Something that takes a teacher in a video, 2 seconds to do, doesn't work. (No fault of the teacher), and you end up spending hours trying to fix something that took someone else no time at all. After spending hours / days trying to fix it....you do get that satisfaction of having achieved something. But what a waste of time, when as silly as it sounds, for a new user it should just work.
Geweldige, duidelijke to the point video alweer ! Heb dit geinstalleerd op 2 verschillende HA machines. Echter ...
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thanks !!! Btw .. werd er al ooit een goede methode gevonden om de panels in HA te gebruiken wanneer je Nabu Casa gebruikt ? URL issue dus ... Prettig weekend !
I have everything setup and I can do the same query as you to see my temperatures in my living room but when I click create new dashboard in Grafana and then click add panel, I end up with a blank working space. No query section, no panel section, its driving me mad. I think I've clicked every possible button and menu to try and get the same screens up as you.
@@SmartHomeJunkie It's Safari, I loaded up Home Assistant in Firefox and everything just popped right up as it should. In Safari, I can do queries in explorer and everything fine but as soon as I try to design dashboards, nothing appears, all I see is the top bar saying "Discard", "Save", "Apply". The graph panel, query panels below that bar and the settings panels on the right of them are all missing in Safari.
Hi, thank you for this video and for your channel ! Could you please explain how did you set up your Barometer and the Barometer Trend (to get this scale, color, etc) ?
You can do this using the value mappings in the field tab of your barometer panel. For instance: If range is between -100 and -0,00001then show a down-arrow icon in the text field.
Indeed. But it works with Openweathermap too. I am also working on a video to show how you can trigger something based on the total amount of rainfall during the day. Buienradar has better sensors for that, but cannot be used in all countries.
Fantastic Tutorial! I've enjoyed this and several other tutorials from you. I am very new to HA, and I appreciate your step-by-step tutorials!! In my case I had some concern about creating a local database inside Home Assistant, since I am running HA on an ODROID N2+ and I worry about the reliability of EMMC memory. I already have a dedicated PC with Influx (+ Grafana) collecting data from a different Hub (Hubitat), and that is working well. So, with the Influx DB add-on in HA I've configured the local address of this PC. I edited my config.yaml file to reflect this domain and port with Influx. However, in the Influx Add-On in HA, while I see "Measurements and Tags" and "Fields", from HA, Influx shows "No Data" for DB Home_Assistant. For my other database, I can see data, so I think my issue is that my HA Influx Add-On is not writing data from HA. (Yes, I've waited a few hours.) Of course, in Grafana ( HA Add-On) can see the tags and fields from HA, but Grafana also reports "No Data." If you can, please point me to some resource where I can learn how to push data from HA to an Influx DB on a different computer on my local network. 😃
