Classic (tiny) Agar suicide bots (only sorta) ruined the game because people were no longer chasing after pellets, they were chasing after tiny moving suicidal bots, pellets became pointless for that reason, but 99% of players were still growing at the same rate because tiny suicidal bots were everywhere, so there was still a great chance at beating a bot user, and everyone knew it. I used 500 tiny suicidal bots in one server, and still got beat many times. Looking back at it, that's what made it fun for me, being able to grow quicker than everyone else, while still having competetion, and still having an ocean of people playing for that 1 reason. But AgarbotOVH completely ruined the game, because not only are their bots nearly impossible for anyone to catch without splitting, but their bots are Huge. (I tried AgarbotOVH bots, and I literally became So Huge, I took Over The Entire Map, game after game after game, I won again and again and again with about 300K Mass, people couldn't even spawn without me killing them). There's no longer any competition, and everyone knows that, even for (ex) bot users like myself, that's why servers are ghost towns these days. But of course bot services aren't the only ones to blame, Miniclip Failed to Use the Simpliest and Best Anti-Bot service on the Planet, Cloudflare... as a cyber security guy, I've never seen anyone beat Cloudflare Captcha Protection, it's basically like a Google Captcha, but actually doing it's job... Google captchas can be bypassed by scripts in literally seconds, I can name dozens of captcha-solving services that work for Google Captcha, but can't name you A Single Cloudflare Captcha solving-service, I remember testing a Powerful DDoS site, but if anyone Violated their #1 Rule, they get Auto-Banned Permanently, and that rule was "Don't Target Anything Protected by Cloudflare", (the last time I played Agar was about 2-3 years ago, so I have no idea what changed), but man, Agar was So Good back in the day of 2015-2016. Good times.
