40k lore is probably the biggest grimdark sci-fi universe, this franchise is almost 40 years old, has about a thousands of books and dozens of cool games beside tabletop (main one) iteration, it's a rabbit hole that is about to become mainstream if Henry Cavill's 40k amazon universe would see light (series + movies). I've read about 200 novels (the main "prequel" Warhammer 30k Horus heresy has about 100 novels alone) and being waiting for space marine 2 for TEN years. I could advise a dozen amazing 40k cinematics (the main one is THE best fan work on the internet - Astartes part 1-5, the quality is better then most studious could make, and it was made by ONE dedicated fan in 5 years or so) and beginner friendly lore videos.
