A young woman from Gaza posted a video showing the spread of insects in her area caused by sewage water and the lack of essential services. She says that this leads to the spread of infectious diseases and causes suffering for many due to constant itching.
On 21 December 2023, the World Health Organisation (WHO) published a report stating that Gaza is witnessing a sharp increase in infectious diseases. Since mid-October, over 100,000 cases of diarrhoea have been reported, with half of them affecting young children under the age of five.
Additionally, there have been over 150,000 cases of upper respiratory infections, along with numerous reports of meningitis, skin rashes, scabies, lice, and chickenpox. Hepatitis is also suspected, as many individuals are displaying symptoms of jaundice.
