To me, Lawrence’s “keep me posted” is just as bad as Condola’s “you can be involved as much or as little as you want”. I feel like both of them were dangerously misinformed on what to expect once the baby arrived and their communication throughout the pregnancy was terrible on both parts.

I can really see both side here but ultimately. - last season Condola (I think that’s her name) told Lawrence that she was pregnant when they were already broken up and Lawrence was back with Issa and about to start a new job. There’s a lot of resentment from Lawrence towards her. If you remember her whole thing when they were together was that she didn’t want children all of a sudden when he’s moved on bombshell (rightly or wrongly there’s resentment) - she told him not to worry that she was having the baby and could do it by herself and that he could be involved as much as he wanted. Clearly this set the tone. - Condola is struggling with the fact that she’s with the baby morning til night but Lawrence has seemingly moved on with his life. She resents him and wants to punish him.

Also last season, Lawrence wanted to be with Condola. She didn't want to get married or have children. She decided to keep the baby and was gonna do it with or without him. She is bitter cause she thought the baby was gonna make him stay

I’m proud of Issa for not involving herself in this mess. I’ve had to walk away from men after being informed they had children on the way. It wasn’t easy but there was no way for me to stay and respect myself. A mess! Men really need to work on their impulse control issues.

Lawrence said that they were discussing baby names but nothing solid so they were in contact. There were times when BOTH were wrong but it was real. Imagine going through an entire pregnancy alone. Also imagine being with a person who say they DON'T want children and once you break up and move on. Here they go I am pregnant. Condola was making it unnecessarily hard for Lawrence. Lawrence had no idea how trash his weekend dadding was.

I also want Condola to stop acting shocked that Lawrence reacted the way he did when she told him she was pregnant. Remember they ended things because he said he was dating to marry, but she wasn't looking for a long-term commitment. How do you not want to be in a committed relationship but you want to make a LIFE LONG COMMITMENT and have a CHILD with someone? I can understand his confusion. Outside of Lawrence being upset because he and Issa were working things out, that played a HUGE role too.

When you won’t let him take his child so he can also have sleepless nights, be tired, have to balance stuff, you’re choosing for him not to know. Just because he’s not in a relationship with you doesn’t mean he’s not trying to have one with his child. I know way too many dudes that want more time with their kid & THEY got the court involved because working with the mother was proving too difficult. Ain’t no court in Al Gore’s United States of Merica that wouldn’t let that baby go with Lawrence more & then Condola’s feelings about it wouldn’t matter.

When it was his turn to spend the weekend with the baby. I would give that baby so fast I wouldn't blink twice and go to bed. He needs to experience the ups and downs of raising a newborn and moms should let them.

I don't get how people feel the way Lawrence treated Condola doing pregnancy doesn't matter. You can't ghost the mother of your child for 9 months then expect a round of applause when you finally show up. Even if they are not together, you are setting a precedent of expectation when the child gets here. Lawrence said "you blew up my life" as if Condola impregnated herself. That episode was real and very poignant.

I agree Condola made that statement to Lawrence and didn't figure how greatly that statement affected her life. But Lawrence actions toward Condola was based off anger because he finally got his dream job, he and Issa's relationship was finally at a good place. And all of sudden Condola dropped a bomb. And a baby with her was not in Lawrence's plans.

She then said that she could do this with or without Lawrence and he can be as involved as he wanted to be. Then at the end of this episode she implied that the baby was suppose to make him stay (I believe her exact words were you shouldn't have left). She needs to say what she means and means what she says cause right now, it seems like she thought the baby was gonna make him choose her. He didn't give up the job and primarily Issa like she was hoping for (another reason they broke up cause she realized he would still be with Issa had she not cheated)

I feel like Condola should definitely get some more “blame”. People are giving her too many passes because she’s the woman/mom. She knew who she was having a baby with and she knew she would be a single mother. It wasn’t a shock. They were already broken up when she found out she was pregnant. She knew what the deal was gonna be. Now she’s dealing with the consequences of having sex and choosing to have a baby with Lawrence. This may sound harsh but it’s true🤷🏾‍♀️

But based on the episode and the dynamic of the characters, I agree with what they were saying in this video. Both characters have some maturing to do, and Lawrence is trying to walk in privilege that he doesn’t have yet. They gotta find out what works for them. I can’t wait to see how they sum up this season.

Condola had no conversations about whether or not they as a unit wanted to have a child, she kept him posted that she was having a child, gave him the option to be involved or not...her CHOICE to be a single mother was single handed. They are BOTH wrong because he decided that he would try, but she CANNOT be mad, because this was HER decision.

This episode helped me to realize why some baby daddies agree to be in a 'relationship' with the baby momma. The convenience of seeing your child without the headache. I've seen people do this and the dude ends up cheating because he loves his child more than he loves her. Not a healthy situation...Yeah, go to court, bro.

I love the way you guys break down the episodes in a different way. We don’t need a play by play of the episode because we watched it already. I like that you incorporate personal stories and keep it conversational. Y’all have me talking to the screen (like you can hear me lol). Good discussion this week. Angel is correct about filing for joint custody. Non-married parents should definitely do this to hopefully prevent visitation issues. I say hopefully because some folks still do not follow the court order. I’m a social worker so I have first hand experience.

Lawrence was naive to think that he would be able to sustain flying back and forth between LA and San Fransisco. Condola was wrong for not being honest and upfront that she did not think that was going to work out and that he needed to make the decision of whether or not he was going to fully commit to being in the child life. There was wrong on both parts.

As a single mom to twin 1 year olds this episode was triggering. Whew. I had to coach my children’s father that he has to meet me half way. Lawrence should definitely be checking in as much as he wants updates. Unfortunately, men many times don’t kick in to daddy duties until the child gets here and the bills come in

I think she still had feelings for him. You could tell the moment they took a family photo at the baptism. There's a thin line between her resentment for him not being present the way she wants and her not really trusting him bcz he hasn't proven himself. IMO they're both wrong but he's woken up to the reality of the situation. Excited to see where this goes.

For me, my boyfriend taught me to move in ways that I don’t regret anything . Taking into consideration that they were broken up and Condolla already decided she was going to keep the baby without asking Lawrence option (not that I support abortion), I can understand that Lawrence needed time to prepare himself mentally and financially. So it made sense for the “keep me posted” comment. It doesn’t excuse his negligence of not following up with her periodically. However, for me I would do just that every, doctors appointment, til the water broke I will keep you posted because I know the impact of having a father. Now if he doesn’t respond that’s on him and that’s okay but I know I couldn’t live without even giving a him a chance to be a father. I cannot control how someone else acts or reacts I can only control my own actions and reactions. I think open communication on both sides would have helped. Also the show leaves it very vague about their communication. It went from “I’m pregnant” and “keep me posted” to the baby is here.There is no time to be petty when it comes to a child. It doesn’t matter if they didn’t ask for the information, that baby isn’t just yours, you give up the information anyway. I give my 100 even if they person is only giving 50 because it’s not about me anymore and how I may feel. Now if the man says he wants no parts then stop.

@@alanaterrel9914 adoption is always an option. Asking his opinion isn’t necessarily a black or white situation of killing or keeping a child. It’s just giving the person the platform to just have an opinion about it even if it is different or the same as yours. Having a conversation of what it may look like coparenting, impact of having an abortion or what would it be like if adoption was an option and give both parties to speak on each alternative without feeling judged. Imagine you are living your life and a person you broke up with made a decision of having a baby without asking your idea on it or opinion even if you don’t agree with abortion yourself? It takes away a persons choice.

I have to disagree with Angel on the court option, from experience with helping my brother try to get custody. Baby mama....TRASH, REAL TRASH. Multiple endangerment calls etc and court kept giving her more and more chances to do better. And still court only partially works, and being in 2 different cities will still make it difficult. Or some dudes begin to literally only be involved those weekends, and nothing in between (i.e. sports practices, etc). But the show was so well done.

He wasn’t present to support Condola during her pregnancy. She and her family were angry about that. They were expecting him to attend the appointments and dote on her. She chose to have a child with a man she wasn’t in a relationship with. They were mad at him before the baby was born. All this after she said you can be as involved as you want to be.

You know how I know Lawrence hasn't been involved in the pregnancy. He didn't have the crib prior to the birth of the baby he had 8 months+ to get all that and diapers. Highly unlikely he was helping Consequences during the pregnancy, so the short text about the baby's arrival makes sense. Doesn't make it right but I see why. This episode really had you switching the side for each person , best one so far.

Condola, why would you choose to have a baby by a man you’re not even in a relationship with? My grandmother has always said, “ it’s a mama‘s baby and a daddy‘s maybe.” My mother has always said, “When you (a woman) choose to have a child, understand that child is yours and the man has the opportunity to walk off because they are not tied to that baby like you are. Their life will go on. Your life will not go on as planned. You will have to sacrifice the life that you once had and plan to possibly change the life you wanted.” Lawrence is still immature and self-centered. Why were you fucking some girl that you weren’t in a relationship with without a condom? And now you’re upset that she got pregnant? She wouldn’t of had the opportunity to be the mother of your child if you had covered yourself sir. She doesn’t trust you because it seems like you have been inconsistent throughout the entire pregnancy and popping in and out when it suits you. You can’t expect for someone to be trusting with something that is precious to them when you haven’t shown them that they can trust you with that. You have not shown true interest or dedication. You’re always talking about your job. Clearly that is taking priority over your child. They’re both giving “I’m not very self aware” vibes. I will never understand why people make permanent decisions without thinking them through. Children are not something that you sign up for and assume everything‘s going to work out. Because history tells us that is false. Even in the best of situations, (let’s say a couple has been married for a couple of years and they have gotten themselves in a good financial place and then they choose to have a child) raising a child is hard. It is exhausting. It is time consuming. It is unrelenting. It is a thankless job. It is all those things because it is a choice made by two individuals. And what pisses me off even more is that these were grown, educated people that made rash decisions and now are upset that they have to deal with the consequences. However I am happy that they are showing the realities of situations like this.

There are a lot of factors that go into it but given that it sounds like Lawrence is listed as the father on the birth certificate ( basing this on the fact that the baby was given his last name) that's grounds to make it a legal matter of one parent keeping the other parent away from a child unjustly.

I’ve been waiting on this. I don’t have kids but I was raised by a single parent and even some of my friends are going through co parenting and single parenting. Looking to see what y’all thoughts are as married parents of multiple kids. Those arguments were hard to watch so I can only imagine what it’s like outside of the tv world. Episode wise I’m glad they covered everything. Lawrence told her just keep him posted. And she did. And then he tried to run up and play daddy. Yes he did try but he didn’t go about it all the right way. I completely overlooked the fact he was already packed to move when he got back to his place after he and Issa split again. Even Derek had to check him. True friendship there.

That was a response to Lawrence telling her that she shouldn’t have the baby. Lawrence’s response to her being pregnant is what caused the relationship to crumble because why would she think he would be involved with baby he didn’t even want.

True. Because in the season before she tells him she’s pregnant and she’s keeping it no matter what. She made that decision on her own. Yes Lawrence did say to keep him posted but at the same time he did step up. I also noticed when things weren’t going her way all of a sudden it’s her baby but when she wanted time for herself it’s their baby. Children need both parents no matter what and what’s best for you may not be what’s best for the child.

It's not the mother's responsibility to nurture and facilitate the relationship between the child and the father, BUT IT IS HER RESPONSIBILITY to let it happen, and that's the difference. Lawrence and Condola were in communication during the pregnancy, they were talking about baby names. He was at the doctors appointment where the doctor said the baby can eat solid food. I understand both sides but I also feel like Condola makes it harder than what it needs to be is because she shut him out as soon as they went their separate ways.

It doesn't matter what he really did before the birth, what's important is what happens when the baby is out in the world. Edit: Last season Condola made it clear she didn't want to have children and had an abortion from her prior ex. It's too much of a coincidence that she has a complete change of mind when Lawrence life finally stepped up. Lawrence made it clear he didn't want a child and she did not take him into consideration because they don't love each other and it makes no sense to have children with men that don't want anything to do with you.

If the woman asks for support and attention during the pregnancy and he denies it, that's one thing, but if she doesn't reach out and he doesn't come forward then he probably thinks he's not wanted or required. Also I've seen a lot of women use a pregnancy to try to get the man to come back and that makes it difficult for the man to be around as well.

My buddy when he was still with his child's mother living in the house put himself on Child support saying that he never wanted a day where him and the child's mother weren't together and she tried to keep their child from him. He also said he didn't think she would do that but because of what he had seen, he did it. They broke up, and she never tried to be petty and keep him from their son but when they did break up, he was glad he had the legal system involved to keep it from getting that way.

Consequences and Ashy Larry are both horrible at communicating. From the day she broke up with him at Friendsgiving, they have been awkward as hell. She knew he ain’t want kids but decided she wanted to keep the baby anyway cause SHE wanted to keep their baby. She was ready, he was not; she gave him the option of being involved or not, but we don’t know (hoping for flashbacks) if they communicated for those 9 months. We don’t know if she tried reaching out because she seem like the type to not tell him anything

One of the things that struck me was seeing Condola exhausted in her messy house, not even making it to her bed to sleep, comforting a fussy Jah and seeing Lawrence in his neat and baby free apartment setting up a crib and snuggling a teddy bear feeling all nostalgic and proud of himself. My Son filed for joint custody and won,, of his daughter who lived in Michigan and he is in California. College sweethearts gone bad. He won joint custody. I flew back n forth until she was school age every 6 weeks. The key was that my filed first. They alternated holidays and he had half the summer. The mother had physical custody but he had joint custody with decisions. She's 19 yrs old now in college.

I wholeheartedly disagree with Melissa. It is both parents responsibility to facilitate the relationship with the other parent. It’s part of parenting. Facilitating doesn’t mean you have to dictate. It doesn’t mean you are accountable for everything. It means you include the parent in the parenting. You model how to appropriately treat each other, etc. When parents are apart, each has a responsibility to facilitate their child bonding with the other parent. When y’all are married, you do it and don’t even realize you’re doing it. “Go ask your daddy” is a facilitation of the relationship. “Mommy is tired so stop bothering her,” is a facilitation of the relationship.

I disagree.. and I don't think you're taking all scenarios into account. When you have a parent that very rarely initiates any contact with their own child it is exhausting for the parent with the child to constantly reach out to the distant parent to facilitate that relationship. It is totally the distant parent's responsibility to foster that relationship. No matter how much the parent with the child tries, the relationship can't be forced and and the child will pick up on the fact that the distant parent hardly ever initiates contact. I can speak to this because I've been through it.
