Makes sense since Activision now owns the rights to Crash Bandicoot (although they treat him way better than Naughty Dog is with their franchises especially Jak and Daxter)
@@DatBoiInYaMomsHouse even tho I’m a PlayStation fan this video is the reason why Xbox is better idk what the hell Sony was on not making them backwards compatibility with the previous ones and u being able to change your name
I swear both Microsoft and Sony should allow every physical game to work. If you still own it, then you should still be able to play it because you own it. Edit: why does this comment exist lol
@@Hestiaworks I can't disagree with you, but at least with the Xbox 360 you get to play some OG Xbox games that were never available to buy from the store like NFS UG2 which was awesome. Although I can't say the same for the games that suffer from frame rate issues like GTA 3.
It'd be a lot of work to get either emulator based or hardware based bc. That's the reason that there aren't many og xbox games that are compatible with newer consoles, the emulator has compatibility issues.
@@jerryalexis576 What you're saying is true but man! It always bothers me when I play MC3 on my OG Xbox and deal with the horrible frame rate. Just to realize how much better it could've been if it was compatible on the Xbox One 😂 gotta deal with it I guess.
They do have backwards compatibility,The disc is just not advanced enough to be able to be registered by the PS5 but i wanted them to add backwards compatibility for at least both PS3 and PS4 because those consoles are still pretty advanced even today.
@@tristanrodriguez8294 You wouldn't need to. The PS2, PS3 controllers aren't that different from the PS5. Still, you have a D-pad, analog sticks, back buttons. So you could.
@@Mewtwo_150 Man, I swear you guys should have played on PC. Ik pc gaming is hard unless you can adapt to mouse and keyboard. In some games you get to use controllers.
@@BrainPermaDeD What the hell is the point of playing on a several thousand dollar piece of shit (that can barely run then at all) when you can literally just spend $550 on two consoles and play thousands of games.
@@Mewtwo_150 while using pc u can upgrade ur specs, use keyboard and mouse, (and mouse is way more precise than a controller), u can also use a controller, install a huuuge catalog of games, do emulation without pirating ur pc or console
@@NeonVyxa the old fat one yes the slim one does not have the chip ( edit : the ps3 Super slim or ehatever the name was can not play PS 2 games it can play PS1 games I only mean the chip for the ability to play ps2 games. )
@@dopey473 the original PS3 had PS2 hardware inside to be able to do hardware emulation, but they needed to make it cheaper because it was too expensive, so they removed it and used software based emulation, however later on they decided to stop it all together but you can still buy emulated PS2 games from the PlayStation Store. The PS3 could always play PS1 games though.
4:26 Carbon on PS3. Just a Masterpiece🔥. What a shame that Sony isn't even able to make PS3 games playable for PS5. Well they could, but they're too stingy to do it?
Even Sony cannot emulate or run PS3 on their systems because it’s too complicated. If you try to run the PS3 emulator RPCS3 you will see that without any optimization or good hardware the game will be laggy and unplayable
@@kouacc that's an argument. But it's not impossible. Ok, maybe they would have needed one more year till the would've PS5 came out. I wouldn't have cared about that. All I wanted from the PS5 was 3TB storage and a Backwards Compatible Disc drive to the PS3. I don't want to buy a PS Now for 1 Month and then I cannot even keep the games forever.
The PS4 just stays in idle like normal and nothing happens, it tries to read it and it knows it contains data, but since it's made for superior hardware and coded Different, the console does not know how to handle it and in the end one of two things happen, it either spins the disc undefinetly trying to figure out the data, or it gives up and acts as if nothing was inserted in the disc tray
Pretty sure it would just tell you the disc is unsupported or can’t be read. Most if not all software made to support disc drives, especially in the last 15 to 20 years make it so if the device cannot read the disc it will just stop spinning. From there it’s up to the device to display a message or even just eject the disc outright.
I know a lot of people here are mad the PS5 can’t support Pre-PS4 discs, but i’m just happy it supports PS4 discs. I have maybe one or two PS3 discs and no PS2 ones, but i have over 40 PS4 discs, and i’m waiting to buy a PS5 sometime in the future, for which i’ll need to sell my PS4. I didn’t want my game library to have to go, so i’m pretty excited about that.
@@Zootopia96 It's a hardware compatibility thing. PS1, PS2 and PS3 are compatible apparently due to being PowerPC Architecture. (Correct me if i'm wrong), PS4 and PS5 have an x86 architecture, which is in turn Not compatible with PowerPC. At this point, making a console on PowerPC just for retrocompatibility would be wasteful, considering how x86 is more efficient.
@@Siknik64 meanwhile PS3 has custom PPC so its would be kinda hard to emulate, while Xbox One and Xbox Series X can emulate both Original Xbox (used modified Pentium 3) and Xbox 360 easily because its a modified PowerPC (except original xbox) with some x86 feature.

this is the first time i'm actually kinda pissed at this video, sony PROMISED backwards compatibility with all the playstations for PS5 and THIS is what we get?
DAMN your crash bash is so clean it's mint, the one I have is all scratched and stuff but BUT it like legit refuses to die also gran turismo 4 music? Man of culture I see. Also I use my ps3 as like a glorified ps1 and yeah as ps3 too ps1 games on the ps3 look fabulous on them and yeah I do have smoothing on but at 1080 amazing (I do check to see what it's running at and yes 1080) I do have a ps2 with the... I can't remember what they call them component????? I think well the one that's RGB and that runs at 480i which.... not so great. But it's fine to me anyway it's a ps2. I can always get the original ps3 to play ps2 games but people keep jacking the price for a working one but oh well
Maaan, when it was my first time playing on ps2 my first racing game was nfs carbon.Last time when I played it was in 2019, but when I was like 7 or 8 old, that game was one of my favorite nfs :')
Ps1 Games On Ps5 : Not Recognized The Disc :( Ps2-Ps3 Games On Ps5 : Recognized But It Can't Play On Ps5 :( Ps4 Games On Ps5 : Worked And It Can Be Played On Ps5 :)
@@overload_7728 Yea, the PSVR Mega Pack V3 has the adapter included. But it sucks that you can only play PS4 versions of games in VR, with No Man's Sky it's a pain if you also want to play the PS5 version, save games only go from PS4 to PS5 and not the other way, kinda keeps me from playing in VR, hope the PSVR2 will come soon.
I once did that on my friend's PS5, don't know why it showed something like Spider-Man and a guy wearing a Spider-Man suit from the movies was there. He looked like tom holland🤨🤨
Imagine if Sony allowed you to scan the phisical game copy and play the game I hope Sony uses this idea for a future update on ps5 and ps4 and I hope Sony gets this
For PS1 and PS2 that Sony might have lazy to put it however they can emulate it, except it wont read these PS1/PS2 games directly from CD/DVD. and for PS3, PS3 used PowerPC which was hard to emulate easily without FPS drops or preventing bugs from the game. The Xbox side, on the other hand, can emulate these older Xbox consoles easily (even Xbox 360 which used PPC).
They had a history of it in the past. They've always had some form of access to older games though the PS4 was the weakest in that area with a small sample of PS2 games
Interesting how it detects all discs other than PS1. I think that's because PS1 discs have a different format than standard DVD/Bluray discs to prevent piracy.
if the PS5 cannot read CD or Video-CD then of course it will never be able to read PS1 game discs Seems to be able to read DVDs so you can use a PS5 to play movies. Same to blu-ray too. When you think of it...part of the PS2's success was being a rather affordable DVD player and the PS3 was pretty much the first Blu-ray player out there
@@ruikazane5123 Almost all bluray and 4k players can read CD's, they normally have a second laser meant for reading them. The PS4 can read CD's and so can the PS3. I mean not many people use them anymore but still there are people who like to listen to music off of their consoles. Playstations have always been entertainment systems, not just gaming consoles.
And this is why I find the Xbox better then ps. I want to play the older games because of how refined they are and I want to experience them again. When I had an Xbox for a while I bought Fallout New Vegas and had such a blast with it. I can't believe PS won't have backwards compatibility with newer gen consoles.
