Beautiful story 59s are my favourite! When I was born my dads 4 dr belair took me home from the hospital ( he had to mount his own seat belt in it to legally take me home in that car) an I bought it for $25 when I was & years old an I still have parked in front of my acreage as my favourite lawn ornament! Have a couple others too!

What a great car, have always been a fan of the ‘59’s since my father announced he had purchased a new Impala for my mother in June of 1959! Snow-crest White, dark and light blue interior, it was a hardtop sedan which Chevy called a “Sport Sedan” with great visibility and was a great road car, even with the 235 six, three on the tree and no power steering or power brakes. I took my drivers test in it and it was my wheels though a four year daily commute to college and a couple years after. The northeast winters weren’t kind, and rust was beginning to show. I’ve never seen fuelie ‘59 before, and if my bank account were larger, I likely be a bidder on this one! Thanks for showing it to us here.

Awesome story and impala. 40 years ago I saw an add in Hemmings for a 59 bel air fuelie, wish I would have purchased it. It was a drag racer not driven on the streets.

Wow,only 26 huh? I'm a former owner(64 Corvette coupe w.F.I.,big brakes, and 4.11:1) and you're absolutely right...very much a "love-hate" relationship. Very nice car. You're one of few to actually hang onto a car for 50 years! Most cars that were built with these injectors are missing them now.People pitched them due to lack of knowledge.(GM shop manual has very detailed information on maintaining and rebuilding of these injectors) Nice job Chauncy.

In Canada, the Impala was also called a Pontiac Parisienne, that had Chevy Motors, and wasn't a Bonneville.

Chevy should have kept the FI option on the big cars until 1965! I dream about buying a loaded '63 Impala SS hardtop with a FI 283 and a Powerglide

Very cool car. Probably around 95 or 96 I seen a all original blue 1959 biscayne 2 door sedan factory fuelie. It was at a McDonald's in Gahanna Ohio. Me and my buddy waited for the guy to come out so we could talk to him. We had never seen the wierd looking pointed flags on the front fender and wanted to ask him if it was a original. Sure enough he said he ordered it brand new with fuel injection and 4 speed transmission. It was all original and he was the original owner. We could not beleive Chevy had built a car like that brand new in 1959. To this day I still wonder where that car is. Probably in a garage in Gahanna. Have a good one Buddy 👍

My understanding is, back in the day, when the early fuel injected chevys would have problems they often get replaced with a carb. Because there weren't enough mechanics around that knew how fix them. Unfortunately many of the units got chucked.

I really liked the 1959 full size Chevrolet style. The trunk is really roomy. However the instrument panel really gives me the heebie-jeebies with the sharp edges around the gauges. If I had the car I would modify the instrument panel to get rid of the sharp edges. Someone told me engineers called the sharp edges "pizza cutters".

What's it do in the quarter mile. Beautiful car, too bad it's probably just a "Lawn Chair car" This car was built for tweeking and taking to the strip not just sit at a boring car show. Oh and "Hondas" run 16s this car would run 13s with some tweeking and slicks. Like you said today's hot rods are not naturally aspirated they have cheat superchargers and twin turbos. European cars were way ahead of us with FI and suspension decades ago. Car's should be big in America not little plastic jellybeans
