@@PaulJackson729 I think it was something to do with promotion during the 2000’s era when the first iPod came out and Burger King 👑 wanted to make the fries from the McDonald’s size to the Diner fat style and make some silly joke with fry cartons instead of the original fry boxes similar to Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s back in the day and it might of been a food cost 💲 thing as well I’m guessing.! Cause I work at Taco Bell 🔔 and ever since they changed from plastic bags to Paper I was just as confused as you felt about why Burger King changed the fry Recipe 🤔 and the answer for Taco Bell’s cause is that whole green earth deal! Ahhh. Back when fast food actually STAFFED the restaurant properly. As a former GM, starting in the 2000s these places starting cutting labor costs for profit. The "do more for less" era started. Glad I'm out of the business.
I remember my old home town McDonald's in Crystal River Florida during the 80s and 90s having This many on staff. It was almost like it was more than just a fast food location, it was a congregation of friendly people. The staff was so friendly and remembered everyone's name. Place was always filled with laughter. I started working there after high school in 99' before going off to college. Made so many friends who some have sadly passed away. It was just a different world back then.

I went to a Burger King for my 8th birthday in 1998 - probably because it was just across the street from a Toys R Us store, lol. Afterward we walked there and I got to pick out a game - I went with DOOM II for Windows95. I still have some pictures of that memory.

For a full size restaurant and it’s staffed!!! I worked nights for four years at Burger King and it was only me and luckily one or two other people during late night, they would only staff the morning and afternoons but never night 😢

Back then you got greeted correctly. Today you wait for 5-10 mins before someone comes to the register to get your order. Cashiers also just stand there looking at you without acknowledging you and asking for your order.
They get paid next to nothing and are usually treated like garbage by management and customers. This is usually their first job right outta high school and into college. The employees you see in this vid don't behave that way daily. Corporate was filming, hence why management even bothered to help his employees on the floor. Most first jobs are shit jobs, no matter the generation. I'm sure you've had your fair share, so the least you can do is sympathize instead of acting like your parents did when you were a kid. The whole "back in my day, things were better" bs needs to stop. I'm an older millennial (41) and while I do miss aspects of my childhood, especially TV shows and playing video games with my sister, I'm not gonna sit here and say the 80s and 90s were the best decades. Times were pretty shitty in many ways back then, just like every other decade in history. My point: quit being a grumpy old codger who wishes for the olden days like they're sacred and thinks today's youth are a bunch of slackers. Who the hell do you think raised them?

As a teenager,I worked at BK from August 1997 - February 1998. I remember the Mr. Potato Head fry campaign. I still have a couple of the toys somewhere. The food was still pretty decent back then. Overtime the food has gotten worst, and the milkshakes have improved, but the portions size for milkshakes is less.
The onion rings are worse everyday, also the potatoes. I live in Argentina and recently I noticed they taste like they are fried with oil that has been used a lot of times.

1990s were my McDonalds/Burger King/Wendy's era. In 1998, age 26, I worked full time and went back to college part time, no time to cook at home. Fast food was a regular meal and around this time I noticed the food was not as high quality as the 80s, but much better than now. This fast food habit led to gall bladder removal in 2009. I haven't ate at McD's since 2019, Burger King since 2018, and Wendy's since 2000. Chik-Fil-A is my place and I only eat there once every 2 months.
This is how Americans worked together nobody worried about others private problems they put aside their differences and worked as a team and their was no app or internet to have to chat with the GM or in charge to schedule work it was done on paper and you had to make sure you were committed to doing the work not be comfortable about if you could do it or not.! 🇺🇸

I use to work at McDonald's as of 2020 but I never work with that many staff members. It was only 2 or 3 of us at the cash registers & only 3 in the back cooking food.

Some very noticeable differences between this video and the one from 1988. I'll cover what I see in this video. 1) Restaurant was definitely more jam packed with customers and employees. Maybe due to time of year/seasons, location, maybe S&D effect, or all of the above. 2) People seemed more carefree and friendlier. You know, not like their hopes, dreams and souls were squeezed into the non-existence of nothingness....., yet. But I could see the beginnings of tensions created by that new environment. 3) Employees preparing the food were wearing gloves. My observations: The whopper value meal price is killing me. $3.99 for the meal and for .39 you could "King Size" it. All for under $5. Not today ya can't. lol! My personal thoughts: Their chicken tenders and onion rings used to be so much better in the 80's & early 90's.

I remember the taste of those French fries, they tasted good but the ones now don't taste the same and the same thing with the chicken tenders at that time they were big and delicious but now they are smaller and they don't taste the same before they were my favorites but I don't buy anymore since they changed them
I’ve been getting told that the fries were different back then. I was born in 99 and I didn’t have Burger King french fries until I was like six or seven? I love their fries now McDonald’s fries are trash compared to Burger King’s. But that’s just my opinion.
@@racheljohnson2219 french fries back then (most fast food places) were cooked with some beef tallow. I remember them tasting so crunchy and mushy. Also, the smell of tallow was irresistible.

It all went downhill around 2004-2006. You leveled all your characteristic stores and put up cookie cutter like buildings overnight. You took away those light and crispy fries. All the old cooking equipment was replaced with the new buildings and the smell of Burger King throughout the town was gone. And those strawberry cream pies lol don’t even get me started on what your double cheeseburgers used to taste like lol. Why’d you do that? Look what you had and threw away like an empty soda cup. This video captures when Burger King was at their best. If they went back to this model, they’d blow every other fast food place out of the water.

Wish my kids were growing up in the late 90s like I did, things were so much better, and no TikTok and other bs to poison their mind. Kids now days are home all day on their devices.
Best era ever, who could forget roaming through the malls going through all of the stores and the neon lights on the walls in the Targets. The interiors of these Burger King's and Mcdonald's looked so much more stylish.
