Every contactless card has this it allows your card to interface with contactless readers

Contactless payments made using that, likely links to the chip to allow NFC to read your card

0h, not paranoid, just fascinated by the construction of it. The antenna / inductive loop was bigger than I expected. And I never had an opportunity to cut one open before, so that was neat as well.

@intocoasters ah well I'm not gonna lie it was very interesting to see

I wonder if the bit under the mag strip actually pulls data from the chip for an auxiliary technology to the magstrip like extra auth. Prolly not but I know an nfc antenna is pretty small typically so it's unlikely that all the extra straight wiring is an antenna imo

@@NSA-adminno the magnet strip is independent data wise the filament is for contactless the bit underneath the magnetic strip is used to generate a tiny tiny current to allow the rest of the circuit to function if you remove the magnetic strip your contactless will stop working

@@intocoasters Its the language you use. You said you were cutting up a credit card, (which people do, thats normal) but then you said _it_ _delaminated_ which implies that it self delaminated. As if you were cutting away and, all of a sudden, the card's composite integrity just randomly failed and the printed circuit just fell out into your hand and that you had no idea that could ever happen.
