I really appreciate how you distinguish between mixing and production being a factor in creating a great song. Even though the mix is awesome, and you did it, you really drew attention to the fact that thoughtful and intentional production was a key factor in making (what I presume) a much easier record to mix. Pointing out scene changes, dynamics, and variance across the song overall and not just copying/pasting sections of the song. Something I've really started to learn in the last couple years is that the "less glamorous" parts of the process (good engineering, getting high quality tracks and performances from the start, and making good arrangement/production decisions) is the real "secret sauce" to commercial quality releases. Mixing is really just the icing on the cake at that point...so thank you for the reminder that baking the actual cake is incredibly important!

These are the kinds of productions that I cherish when I'm lucky enough to receive them. Every little element has a purpose and its your role as a mixer to decide where to place them for maximum emotional resonance. Hopefully this video makes them less rare! Fantastic video Joel!

Really liked the insight on this one. I'd love to see a video in this same format on how to use synths/production elements more organically. I'm coming from an extreme music standpoint and see a lot out there on adding EDM elements and going ham like the nu-metalcore stuff that's been developing, Otero's orchestration stuff, etc. I'm more curious about how to adapt these ideas on a "band in a room/your face" mix without it feeling too "electronic." I'm subbed to NTM btw, but not enhanced, so apologies if it's been covered already.

This was so cool of Keith and Kevin to let us see under the hood especially with this being a new song that just came out. Love his music and the work he's done , thanks for showing us this Joel. it was interesting seeing the rotary guitar and the vocals fx and how they blend seamlessly. I'd like to see some more production video's like this good stuff.

I'm a subscriber to URM Enhanced and NTM for at least half a year, and, admittedly, life gets in the way, but I'm still chugging along, and love finding when your videos come up on YT; also dude, absolutely love having you being the current "face" of most NTM's, you do a stellar job Joel. Keep up all the good work. P.S. -- Was perusing old, OLD fast tracks and I saw one of you from what must have been 2016 or so man, your on screen personality along with however much "suave" a music nerd can have -- has DEFINITELY improved leaps and bounds. I wanted to keep gassing you up but YT says you deserve no more positive reinforcement and are handicapping me to X amount of words :( Thanks for keeping it big time homie.

Great video Joel and very insightful. Would be cool if you do a comparison of the tracks pre-mix and how they sound mixed and then with the master as well. Keep it up!
