The 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe was designed by Pete Brock to adapt Shelby's Cobra roadsters whose open cockpit design suffered too much drag to keep up with Ferrari's 250 GTO on the Mulsanne Straight during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This newly designed Cobra Coupe would go on to capture class wins at Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring, Nurburgring, and more and become a piece of automotive royalty, worth in excess of $10,000,000!
This example (Chassis CSX2287) was the prototype model of six original Daytona Coupes and the only one that remains unrestored. It is owned and permanently displayed by the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, who were gracious enough to give me the opportunity to film some of the finer details on this car.
