I would give ANYTHING to go back in time and just...…......have a conversation with him!! I hate it when people talk about time travel because it makes me think about how bad I want to go back and meet Lincoln. If a man ever had a time machine I would be his first customer and happily sign over my entire net worth JUST to go back and meet him! I would go back to that time and never come back.

This is going to sound weird but...…….I wish Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain had met. They would have been great friends. Their humor was so similar! ha

Hmm, as far as i know Lincoln was a pretty awesome dude. I would not say his the greatest, but he is truly a historical example of what it means to be an individual who does not run at the social pace. To push for social change is paralleled to deny that society's infrastructure and to become their leader despite their extreme polar view as it was in Lincoln's case.. well its something that require a great amount of patience, incredibly deep devotion and so brain muscle to do.Props to the L-Man

It amazes me how he taught himself almost everything he knew! Think about that! He taught himself math, science, religion, the law, politics. He went on to be the highest paid lawyer in America! He had a case with the railroad in court because they wanted a train bridge but near town but people didn't want it due to how it would alter the river below it. So what does Lincoln do? He went out to the river in a row boat and just sat there looking at the location and thinking about it. He figured out a way they could build the base that would not harm the river!! He has NO knowledge of design yet......right there...….on the spot......he designed a bridge base that made both parties in the case happy AND...……..that design is STILL IN USE TODAY!!!!!!!!! OH...…….AND legally...…...…..that case is STILL be cited in court to this VERY DAY!!!

He was a political pragmatist. He understood saying something to the effect of wanting to bring social and political equality to the black and white races would have been political suicide at the time. He also stated that "all men are created equal". Just like the politician's of our own day, they sometimes say things more because they have to than because they want to. As dodgy as that sounds, it's just the reality of the world we live in (as much as I hate that fact myself).

He's certainly my favorite Republican president, but there are some moderate Republican representatives out there there. A shame none of them we get on the presidential ballot with things the way they are today.

To call him a "racist pig" is overly-inflammatory towards a man that was able to get done what he did in his day. If you're saying it to get a rise out of people that's one thing. If you truelly believe it you're an ignorant person that doesn't understand anything about how politics work in reality in American society. Lincoln was not a stupid man, he understood our political reality better than almost anyone else in his day. Think about the world HE lived in before you speak so flippantly
