A while back when you shared some of your personal happenings in your life, one of the things that I got from that video was that you were just going to slow things down a bit and take life and yourself, a little less seriously. It's nice and useful to explore new places! Oriental was named after the sailing steamer 'Oriental'- a Federal transport ship in the Civil War. A year after being launched, she ran aground in May 1862, when she was wrecked 33 miles north of Cape Hatteras. And thus, the town was named Oriental. The town is small, but everyone is very friendly. Glad you got there! 🫡

Just thought about this, if you have never read “The Old Man and the Boy” by Robert Ruark, you have to do so. It takes place in NC during the depression and is about a boy coming of age being with his Grand Father. I have read it a bunch of times and is my all time favorite book.

Loved this video. I’m a WNC hillbilly but live in Central NC. However our coast is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Been all over the world but no coastline anywhere compares to ours. Can’t place this town but I feel I’ve been there. Thanks so much ❤. And praying for you
