Darlene has gotten under my skin from the get go. She’s the most unkind and cold hearted human. The negativity just oozes from her. I’ve always said these kids turned out to be decent humans in spite of their upbringing. Kudos to the grandma who stepped up and showed these children what unconditional love looks like. God rest her soul. Do you guys remember when the grandma’s quilt got stolen (the siblings gifted it to Tammy). Heart crushing…..simply because I knew how much Tammy’s grandma meant her. That lady stepped up in a huge way for all of those kids. 💞🙏🏻

Generational curses are real. Because the mother didn't want to change or take accountability her children suffered and turned out like her in many ways. She caused this family to suffer.

I really relate to them because I grew up with a mother like this too and my grandmother was also my only supporter. I didn't have weight problems but I always had really bad issues with socialization and grades and my mom instead of encouraging me would just blow up at me about it and make snide remarks. As an adult after my grandmother passed away I had to cut contact with my mother because all she did was inject negativity into my life about how I wasn't doing well enough and eventually I was diagnosed with autism and found out THAT was why I had so many problems not because I was lazy or slacking like I was always told. Now I'm doing alot better. I'm so glad Tammy and Amy and all their siblings rose above their bad mother and are also doing well because I know how hard it is.

I'm no contact with my mother as well, I know it's not an easy choice but I'm proud of you for prioritizing yourself- that's important. (Oddly enough I went undiagnosed ADHD until age 32 and am likely autistic as well. My mother used to come home at work and call me a loser for reading and say "no wonder you don't have friends" 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was a normal parents' dream kid lol)

I assumed initially that the mother was this way because her own mother was like that too. To hear that the grandmother was a positive influence and that the mother is like this anyway is shocking and unforgivable.

The second she was introduced, I knew. My mother is a bonafide narcissist so I recognize those traits in parents quickly. She gets no credit for how her kids turned out- they did so IN SPITE of her behavior not because of it. I'm proud of them too.

I grew up with a mom like that so I can relate. She supported my older sister in anything she did. I got told I was worthless, stupid, a mistake, and she didn’t know why I tried. My sister was given everything. I got nothing. Any time I tried out for something, basketball, baseball, cheerleading, and drill team , she’d say I hope you don’t make it. It was a tough life but I survived.

I knew the mom has issues (thanks to MyThoughtsWillProbablyOffendYou). It technically should've been apparent with her and her children's eating habits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn’t Tammy say that she was overweight as a toddler? Who was feeding these kids? As for the dogs, my hypothesis is that, deep down, the mother feels bad for not being there for her kids. So she seems to be making up for those mistakes with her pets. Kinda like how parents are with their younger kids or grandparents with their grandchildren. It's another chance.

My mom was so awful, cut you with words, narcissistic, would dump all her problems on me so I would go into a frantic worry over her issues , the gaslighting theis goes on. Finally setting boundaries with my mom and telling her no I won’t cater to your every need because you don’t want to . And she has nothing to do with my family or me. So I work really hard on being a better mother to my daughter then my mother was for me. I felt Amy emotion because I feel it to you and having my daughter who just think of your childhood and your mother and you don’t want that for your child. It makes me so sad for them because I have been there hell still there My great grandparents where a safe place for me.

The mother have just realized that the show was more successful than she thought it was going to be so she don’t say the mean things when the cameras are there because it make her look bad. My mother was like this. It took me years to realize that I can change her and if she doesn’t behave I can ask her to go to hell. Which have happened. Didn’t talk to her in over a year that time now it’s little bit better. When I had kids I saw a lot of the same behavior in myself towards my kids that my mother did to me so I went to therapy to get help so I at least had done what I could to not traumatizing my own kids.

That is probably why they all are overweight. They were probably depressed and maybe even afraid, and turned to food. Four of them have had surgery. I have a mother like Amy and Tammy’s. And I’m having weight loss surgery at the end of the month. It’s hard honestly. My niece (3)calls me grandma because I’m the one that goes to family events with my dad instead of my mom. Good on my dad for having the energy to land a 30 year age difference 😂 kidding. But it has a ripple effect. She’s not going to be at my surgery. I’m thankful for the amount of therapy I’ve had. It also taught me a term that the Amy and Tammy need to learn: emotional divorce. It’s what I’ve had to do. My mom is biologically my mom, and she’s still in my life, but it’s a different mindset. Like the love you have for an ex (or ex in-law) and you still have to be around them because there’s still an important relationship there.

I don’t think their mom is a bad person, I think she grew up rough, then had to become harder to work 3 jobs and raised 5 kids. Yes, she had help from her mom, but if she was the same way-it may have been the only way she knew how. Also, all of that for very little pay can be super stressful and result in lashing out. Especially if she grew up in Deep South, they don’t show a lot of emotion because life is hard. You basically survive to live, not to enjoy it. And remember, tv and internet weren’t a thing, you only knew what you knew, surrounded by others with like minds. And when you get that old. You get set in your ways. I’m not excusing it, I’m just saying I see where her mindset may have come from, especially if she experienced that in her own upbringing and it transferred to her own kids. Her kids are breaking that cycle, which is great.

I have never related so much, I had a mother identical to this mother, well a lot worse I'd say but yes just like her, idk how many things happened in my or my brother life n she didn't attend n I vividly remember her using that same excuse " I gotta take care of my dogs" even tho she legit let them poo n pee everywhere n neglected them so much but yes def my mom used to show more affection n concern for her pets or her current boyfriend, or any living thing that wasn't us just to get outta anything we wanted her there for so I totally understand n I feel for them all, I had to ask for help n lots of counseling in order to know how to raise my kids starting out, cuz I was petrified of causing any level of trauma that may have stuck with them n effected the way they turned out as an adult. It took so much for me to be able to say out loud I love you and like saying thank you or I'm sorry l, those were so incredibly difficult to show n my kids are now 21, 18 n 17, but I still think back n get extremely anxious about thinking about when they were little did I say something I shouldn't have, did I do or NOT do something, did I react the wrong way, etc, etc...I'm always second guessing myself, n I turned 39 this year, n I have one granddaughter n I vowed from the sec my oldest said she was pregnant that I'd do everything in my power to guide her even better then I did with my kids, but yes all of what they're feeling cuz of their mother ,it stays with you forever. I still don't know how to give myself credit for asking for that help but I deserve to be proud of how I raised my kids, and so does Amy!🤔🙏🏻😨🥺🤷🏻‍♀️

Your dog sounds dangerous. I hope they never get out and hurt anyone. I'm not sure why it's so funny to have a violent menace as a pet.

@Amber Inthemist are you an animal behavioral specialist? Because we took him to one who deemed him not to be a dangerous dog. We're doing great, he doesnt get out without my supervision, his muzzle, a collar, a harness, and 2 leashes--as recommended by said specialist. Thanks for your unsolicited opinion, boo-boo 😍😛👉💩

Well I'm glad you seem to be taking it somewhat seriously but your first comment full of laughing faces about him escaping and trying to kill anything smaller than him didn't exactly instill that. Maybe get used to unsolicited advice if you're posting about your aggressive chronically escaping dog on public internet pages. And no I'm not an animal behavioral specialist just a parent who deals with irresponsible dog owners at every turn.

I just don't get it. You call yourself "IQ" and then show some of the dumbest people on the planet. Or is it an ironic name like calling a big guy "tiny"? I just think that shows like "my 600lb life" among others, highlight everything wrong with modern society.

Bet he's one of those triflin' guys that expects the wife to keep pushing out babies but do all the "women's" work. Like no, you both made them, you're both responsible for them, unless you have some kind of consensual arrangement. I think having that second kid was a mistake.
