This is a quick teardown of the ANKER POWER BANK that is advertised to have 20,000mAh. Its swollen so its no longer good to use. Take a look and see what's inside.

If anyone is wondering what power bank he is using it's the Anker 20K Power Bank it's about $31.00 currently on anker's official website The specs of the battery are : 15 watt max output Around a 20,000 mAh (please note the actual usable capacity may be lower due to inefficiencies) Also you can trickle charge smaller devices like headphones by double tapping the power button The pros of this power bank : It's cheap for the amount of power it holds It can trickle charge The cons of this power bank : There are a lot of people complaining about it's swelling after a while (please do not use a swollen lithium battery it is a fire hazard lithium-ion battery fires are extremely hard to put out)

I was so looking forward for you complete the job. I wanted to take the batteries apart on mines and I wanted to see how you do it. Unfortunately, you didn’t get that far. I don’t want this thing to explode in my face. I have never done this. Thanks a lot anyway. At least you showed me how to get to the battery. I will figure it out. Again, thank you my friend.

Sorry, was trying to keep the video short. To remove that battery just use a soldering iron to de-solder the nickel metal strip from the board.

I have an Orashare 20,000mAh Quick-Charge powerbank. Had it since August 2022 but in June 2024 i noticed it's starting to swell and its performance has worsened. Now i dunno what to do with it because there are no lithium battery recycling facilities nearby.

I have the same issue with my Anker powerbank. What causes it to swell or bloat?

Theirs a lot for reasons why it could cause it but for me it's because of the heat the charger generates when I charge it from 1% to fully charge. I usually use 5V 1A adapter to limit it's charging current but I get impatient and use the 5V 2A which is rapid charging but also causes a lot of heat.

Yes it should avoid overheating but it will take a long time until it's fully charged

I drop my power bank and the bottom side of the cover broken, i put it back and tape it with a transparent tape , is it okay to use it like this???... it still works though.. only the bottom exterior part is broken.

As long as the battery wasn't punctured by anything when it dropped, it should be fine.

@@TaylorSoloaiJR no it was one of those unbranded solar power banks, sucks because it was really good 26ooomah with one od the panel being fully led lamp with brightness adjustment and another 2 round led where the charging cables go i had it for maybe a lil more than a year

Just the swollen batteries will be disposed but I'm going to reuse it's electronics because they still work.
