Athena Calderone has established herself as a lifestyle goddess through her books Cook Beautiful and Live Beautiful, her blog EyeSwoon, and the renovation of her family’s townhouse.
Always seen the picture of the kitchen & the living room everywhere in my IG and I'm obsessed! Never thought that it would came from the same house. A very beutiful space indeed!
At the beginning of this video I was rolling my eyes and was thinking here we go, another obnoxious privileged person with abnormal taste. Then it becomes clear, this is a woman who is genuinely excited about her work, decorating and design, having a wonderful home and just being a multifaceted creative. Congratulations to her for finding ways to get her passions and projects through.
It's so beautiful. I'm so impressed by how she combines classic decorative style and modern furniture. She made a lot of bold choices including choosing black objects in the middle of white walls, and it works amazingly. This is the house I want to live in. Everything is a piece of art.
Lili White Literally cool. I can’t imagine how drafty it gets in the winter with a single, thin pane of glass on those doors. The ease with which she opened them is proof how lightweight they are. There’s a reason it’s a California concept...
@@emiliabolsas They are most likely double glazed, or maybe even triple. They're even seen on some not so wealthy U.K homes, so they must not be too bad. :)
I love the way she puts all her colours, textures and materials. It all ties in together with the furniture she graded it utterly beautifully with soft and hard edges. She kept the historic features of the town house and I really appreciate that she spent time restoring the beauty of the home. Her bathroom is so amazing mixing creams, whites, textures and I love her stand alone bath tub it complements the beauty of the room. Bathrooms can get boring but she kept it visually interesting it doesn't feel generic in anyway shape or form and that is what makes your home unique.
This home is spectacular. Not boring, very homie, and has loads of personality. Her house isn’t stuffy. It’s not a museum. The way she was sitting on her couch lets us know she’s not too precious. Her home isn’t like that. It’s so stunning. One of my favorites I’ve seen in a long time.
I wish this were longer. I have been following Athena since I found her on Style like you, I have been wanting to see her townhouse forever. I would love to have her budget.
Her house is perfection. Not cluttered but not bare. The right amount of furniture, utility, and design combined so effortlessly. The general flow of the home is so warm and inviting. 😍
I just bought Athena's book "Live Beautiful". It's looks so nice on my coffee table in the living room. The book is filled with many pages of diverse interior design. A good read. I love it!
Absolutely gorgeous. I have seen hundreds of interior design videos. This home is a jewel and I love everything about it. The kitchen is breathtaking but my favourite space in this home is the family room/library. Very dark, moody and sexy. I would spend all my evenings there if I lived in that home. This is big wow for me.
When someone describes their home as "the town house" I'm led to believe that they have another quite, equally opulent country house...... that's that money talk right there and I'm jealous, stuck in a tiny quarantine flat 😭.
I came here to check out this home after listening to her really wonderful and insightful conversation with Gwyneth Paltow on the GOOP podcast. They were fortunate with the light on this day - it really sets the interior colours off beautifully.
She's sweet with a sense of eclectic fashion!! Did her hair a couple of years ago for fashion week while she was living in Dumbo. Glad to see that she's doing well! Xx
Athenäs I hear you but..... NO. Sorry, even when working in the fashion industry in NYC and working at (only after being a lifelong customer of the same) Bergdorf’s more “mainstream” sister store (rhymes with “Needless Markups”) I can tell you that EVEN PEOPLE WHO HAVE MORE MONEY THEN GOD just winced at that astronomical $ NINETEEN THOUSAND DOLLAR price tag on the “quirky and suggestively approachable because it’s vintage” vintage coffee table. I’ve watched a customer spend an easy $10,000 in a couple of hours afternoon on the third floor (read: where the super expensive designer shit is located- like Bruno Cuchinelli and The Row and Balenciaga and ..... you know, Donna Karan (her actual designer line obviously) - oh and an insane and absolutely preposterous luxury fur vault for clearly all of the below 60 degree days we EVER HAVE here (that and re-enacting Dr. Shivago on an ALWAYS EMPTY Sunday work hours or the GHOST TOWN that is ALL OF JULY also...... the place is good though at giving the people what they want, though, like that customer I was trailing about before, and I’m here to tell you, don’t think she wasn’t telling her sales person (who happened to be family- it actually doesn’t happen THAT often) to grab her some good pre-Xmas Presale because I don’t care how rich you are- universally EVERYONE knows the sharp pain and agony of those Vince leather pants and/or iconic leather jacket full on price tag full price stabbing that is $1200-$2000!!!! I mean come the F on, Vince! What am I??!?!! made of money????! Lol. 🤷🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️
@@lovelyjanuary I'm one of those persons that can afford a 20k coffee table and that buys bags of 15k. And I live surrounded of people that can do the same. So, let me give my 2 cents... I really dont care about the price of the bags as they dont go in Sales, but all the rest of my clothes I buy in off-price. I wait until is end of season to grab most of my clothes and shoes. ONLY because I see no point on paying double for something that in 2 months will cost half or less. But yes, I do have 20-40k pieces of furniture in my house. Pieces that are timeless and last forever are worth the tag. I generally spend about 100k per year in bags, shoes, clothes and accessories, sometimes I spend 30k in one single day shopping around. Still, when I renovate one of our houses I do it on a budget (whatever the budget is, most of the times is 200-400k). But without having a budget and with so many beautiful things on the market it would be 5x more. So, budget means something different for everyone.
love love LOVED this video, so great to see someone so passionate and has done their research!! this is how you do a monochromatic modern interior without being boring and dry; while still showing COLOR! That pink marble is beautiful!
It's so refreshing to see a home done with actual taste and knowledge about design & materiality, rather than just homes that follow a fad or a theme, totally lacking personality. This home is sophisticated & timeless.
When I saw the wall of windows in the kitchen I fell in love. But when you mentioned they were bi-fold doors I lost it. Those are some cool doors. Your place is uniquely designed.
Living in a Brownstone has always been my dream, hoping to make it a reality in this lifetime! That sofa was mesmerizing and she has such beautiful style ❤️.
I’ve never heard of her but am now an instant-fan! Can’t wait to go find her books! She has an amazing aesthetic!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 what a gorgeous home! Thank you for sharing it with NYM...great video editing too!
Very lovely home 😍. Very sophisticated, and indeed very posh! And of course very New York. I love it when designers contrast light and dark color accents.
This is Athena's 8th house, that she has rehabbed and it's beauriful! Her budget and my budget, are 2 different things! I love the pink marbling in her bathroom! Mine, fake marble ceramic tiles from Menards or Home Depot! lol
