Soooo...let's see if I understand this correctly? These "model scouts" charge $1000 from very poor families, give these poor girls eatting disorders and no actual job, usually? Sounds like a scam to me!
it is a scam....I was told many years ago that if you have what it takes to be a great model they will pay you to come to them and hand you a contract.....this is absolutely a scam......You are right and they are everywhere.....pieces of shit they are
My niece was contacted by a model agency via Instagram recently. They wanted her to pay the same amount to have a photo book done. She wouldn't be able to use it with other agencies. She's not as young as the girls in the video. She declined.
+Debora Van Krauser While I understand your perspective, why would anyone say put more white people on a soccer team if white Brazilians dominate the entire government, all politics, all media and virtually all of the well paying jobs and careers outside of soccer? What sense would that make to complain about non-whites in soccer? Also, the reason people don't associate generally associate Brazil with "white people" is because by international standards, many people who identify as white in Brazil are not considered "white" in other countries. Outside of those areas where white Brazilians are of relatively recent European immigration (within the past 1-2 generations) most multi-generational white Brazilians are "mixed," and thus by international standards, non-white. Keep in mind that the people who SELF-IDENTIFY as white in the Brazilian census are doing so by their own standards, not by the standards of other countries. Thus, to Brazilians they have one of the largest white populations in the world on paper, but to most in the international community on a social level, Brazil does not.
this is so fucking wrong. when that supermodel said "they should wait a few more years, so they learn about life more, so they do not get exploited so much" imagine what she is talking about. and no, its not about money.
Notice how Giselle said "You should be a little older, so you don't get taken advantage of AS BAD." Meaning it's common to get exploited in that industry, even as an adult. Sick.
These little girls are growing up way too young. What about coaching them to get a good education that will last them for the rest of their lives. The agent telling one of the girls that she may look like a whale is very sad and discomforting.
I noticed that exact same thing. I was like, "what do you mean exploited AS MUCH?" I certainly hope she was just referring to like when famous actors like Johnny Depp said, "I'm tired of being looked at like a brand in the acting business for people to put me in their movies to make money off of".
It absolutely does, these scout are going to Brazil to find the next Gisele but she was a one in a million "Diamond in the rough" trying to mold these girls into something like her is gonna destroy them and if they don't succeed they'll get tossed aside.
These girls gotta have the worst self confidence. Being told you have to lose weight at 14 when your a normal weight or you will turn in to a whale is disgusting on so many levels I can’t even begin to describe. Feel so sorry for ALL these children
Nothing wrong with that, young bos who aspire to be professional athletes are told similar things and you don't see them babycrying over it. I really don't get why women always wanna play the victimhood card. If you really want something you have to workd hard in order to be the best possible fit your the industry you're trying to get into and yes, modeling requires a certain body type, it is what it is.
"shape them the way we want" Absolutely disgusting. They're basically taking away the freedom of a child and their chance to grow and mature on their own by forcing them to fit in and making them think that being "skinny" is ideal.
And she is stunning because she is not from the South. She is from the Northeast, so she has white and black DNA, and the mixture is what made that beauty.
+Leonardo Guimas well not really. they have a lot of interest in Brazil because they are a mix of south american/latin and european. Thats why they have a kinda hispanic face but not totally lol
+Jay Meranda Not at allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. They are germans mixed with Polish and italian. It is very common to find blonde, nordic girls... I've been there many times.
+Leonardo Guimas Mind you: this is the south of Brazil... The south and the southeast have the vast majority of its people of european and asian descent. The number of black and brown people is really low.
+Littleathquakes There are a lot of asians in Brazil, especially in the states of Minas, São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso. About 70% of these people are of japanese descent.
Gisele was not even that beautiful BUT she knows how to model (exceptional catwalk, exceptional editorials, exceptional commercial, exceptional EVERYTHING). She has that certain spark that even during her FIRST castings the agents have already noticed. People can hope but there will NEVER be a Gisele Bundchen ever again.
Agree. She don’t look beautiful to me. She has the perfect body, long legs, beautiful hair, and the charm that attract the eyes. She’s a perfect Victoria secret runway model, but for anything else no.
so sad, Brasil is filled with beautiful dark beautiful beings and they are still searching for white, tall skinny looking women ? stay in the northern americas then don't travel down to BRASIL Filled with mixed beautiful women to search for someone as plain as what they are looking for....so sad.
That's why they are looking in the south of brazil.... if they looked out in Northeast ( where Adriana Lima is from) They would find some of the most pretty dark girls in the world!
Cuz dark women simply aren’t universally considered pretty. All other races are considered more attractive even by black men before black women. There’s actual studies about it. It’s just human nature. But in high fashion dark skin doesn’t pop colors as much as lighter skin which is why high fashion wants as pale girls as possible because the light skin hides imperfections as well and makes them look porcelain.
Joshua Boaventura I agree it’s you very much! Also find it disappointing how they only focus on Brasil.like they really skippe every other Latin American country and went there
I was so disappointed when the guy said to the 14 year old girl that she will turn into a whale, I'd rather be an actual whale then have this disgusting industry telling me how my body should be and how I should keep it. Normally when she gets older she'll get curves, and that's not okay with the modeling industry for some reason, I'll never understand it. Models apparently have to be tall and thin to make clothes appealing to other women who buy it right? Well I don't understand it, that doesn't make a difference if models were average.
+at_raddi And just when is it appropriate to have this "model scout" approaching young girls, getting their phone numbers and talking to them about their bodies? Maybe hand out a flier. This kind of thing is creepy and making it look legitimate is a disservice to girls that don't know the difference between an opportunity to model from that of a pimp looking for merchandise.
Tbh they want white girls, they don’t care about curly cute girls or much about dark skin ladies, or even curvy girls. They have model or plus-size, most people aren’t fat and they don’t have a thing called “curvy girls” because they look healthy, check a model from 1950, she’s healthy and cute, but all they care is she skinny, cute, and tall. They ain’t gonna find light skins a lot, we mixed races over generations so they can be stupid but in general we are all beautiful!! Size or not we are don’t let NOBODY tell you that you aren’t!!!😁💖💖💗💞
This is pure scam! When I was younger they always stopped me to be "super model", but actually I would have to pay a lot for some photos. And they never call you again! In my case it would be model for photograf... but it's pure scaming! Tks to my mom who was smart and never believed in those stupid agencies.
Wow, what a scam this guy's got going on. The majority of those girls will never be model material, you can tell just by their body types. I can't believe he suckers them into paying money for these events.
Considering Brazil is only 47% white, the agencies manage to find the most European looking models possible. It's Ok to say Adriana Lima is the face of a diverse nation, but scratch beneath the surface and what you find is a majority of jobbing models and opportunities are given to Ethnically european girls. It's no surprise that Elite and the rest of the agencies tend to have their head quarters in Rio Grande do Sul and Parana as opposed to Bahia. Their's no difference between Heidi Klum and Cintia Dicker or Bruna Erhardt, They may as well set up camp in Pomerania or Schleswig Holstein. Physical fascists. ON the flip side, they're looking for cheap white girls. Which is why they head to Russia as well.
+Debora Van Krauser No, my dear, your argument means nothing. All you did was repeat a statistic that I'd already made. If you had any intelligence you would realise my point, which is that Eurocentric Brazilian culture dominates, even though 53% of the country has nothing to do or any relation to this culture. Europeans have better job security, they're immeasurably wealthier, they dominate television and media exposure as well as politics. They promote themselves over everything else, to the detriment of all other cultures. It also exposes the level of racism that exists within the country still, which is obviously significant. Your comment exposes your total ignorance towards the topic, but assuming you're Brazilian, that makes complete sense.
Gay Bottom Proud of His Bottom well you have to major in the subjects that are in demand. Iv’e never met an unemployed computer science major. But i mean, if you major in romantic literature then of course your not going to find a job.
Because in Brazil looks are more important than studying. In Brazil people think that having good looks will get them more than studying which is not 100% true
Charging these struggling families $1000/girl to be looked at by agents... Pfft! What a scam! And how creepy is some guy approaching girls as they come out of school. Ew!
it is difficult to accept that there exists whites people in the south america ... but wait ... Latin is not color or race then ...And Brazil have more italians outside Italy in world,is the second with germans and have more japaneses outside Japan...Ignorance cause stereotypes.
Your soo right😂I don't understand why people can except that but I will say one thing A LOT of whites aren't native to Brazil and either settled or were brought their to "whiten" the country cause it was considered "too black" but then again so we're African slaves so it doesn't really matter Brazil is overall a mixed society even if it is not visible in the individual.thanks for stating what you did have. Nice day if u see this🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏿🙏🏽😇.
+Sol Leiroz well, they are also not originally from Brazil. Like everyone else, their ancestors came from North America, whose ancestors came from Asia through the Beiring Strait, whose ancestors came from the middle east, whose ancestors came from Africa, where homo sapiens first appeared.
European Latinos are descendants of those who came here many years ago through colonization. Latin America isn't really their home. Brown and black girls deserve the same representation, they matter.
No Way would some modeling scout touch my young daughter in the stomach, and tell her anything. Modeling is okay for some people, but I would rather my Daughter go to college.
just look at the model industry today. now it's filled with pre-teen models. what a disgusting industry. why would somebody come up with a dumb idea to put 14 yr olds in the fray of the modeling industries. i would be happy if someone or some group banned pre-teens from being models
Gisele is the one who started this craze. Brazilian models became number one scouted in 1999/2000 because of her explosion. I read an article about it in Newsweek, that agents from around the world all moved to Brazil after GIsele was discovered, it became a huge business.
No it was before! Shirley mallmann and Gisele zeluay are example of it they dominated the 90s before Gisele Bündchen, for example. Ana Cláudia Michels came with Gisele, for example
Não foi Gisele, falas como se a culpa fosse dela. As pessoas que são loucas. Graças a Deus que ela veio para o mundo da moda pq ela é linda e o seu dom mudou o mundo das passarelas
What a bizarre and creepy process. Not to mention the amusingly blatant colorism. There's nothing wrong with whiteness but it comes off as absurd and obsessive, even racist, when a minority-white nation (many of whose whites couldn't "pass" as white in the United States or Northern Europe) tries to project a lily-white image. And not just in modeling, either. What happened to all that boasting of a "racial democracy"? More blacks and browns than any place outside of Nigeria, and they couldn't find any hot ones? Maybe the U.S. can loan them some.
Kilpatrick Kirksimmons brazilians just can't stand calling them majority non-white. That's the really racism, i think Brazil is more racist than US, but only less segregated
If there in the United States has many white, so why take Brazilian models to work in the US? this is because there not many models because most American are fat and ugly body because only eat burger and chips hahahaha
+paulopion Did you say that with a straight face? There are literally only a few Brazilian models that work in the United States. Most American models are in fact, American. Don't be ignorant.
+KAKA BRASIL Correction, white people do not represent 50% of the Brazilian population. 47.73% of Brazilians in the census SELF-IDENTIFY as "white." But keep in mind that many who self-identify as "white" in Brazil are not necessarily "white" by the standards of other countries. Keep in mind Brazil's history in reference to colorism and there are many brown-skinned people in Brazil who called themselves "white" simply to gain social status. When the world thinks of the average Brazilian person, it is not "white" people than comes to mind.
+LUCAS LEIVA BRASIL First, it is not only African studies courses that say Brazil has the largest population of African descent outside of Africa. It is many Brazilians who say that also. Also, many slaves on their way to ALL countries in the Western Hemisphere died. Not only to Brazil. And if you actually study Brazilian history, in Brazil's own history books, it is acknowledged that when slavery was abolished in Brazil in 1888, Brazil was a majority black country. It was then they opened to doors to massive European immigration, and the process of "branqueamento" began. This is not African studies, these are Brazil's own records. You are also neglecting to mention in what region the country of Brazil originated. Keep in mind the South of Brazil is not where the country originated. Brazil as a country origination in the North. The first capital of Brazil was in the Northeast, Salvador. The vast majority of the Northeast is black and mulattoes. Southern Brazil is where most European immigrants from Germany, Italy, Poland, etc. went to. You keep using Southern Brazil as an example and your neglecting the fact that Southern Brazil is one of the smaller regions of the country. It just has the most political influence, but not the most numbers.
stap0290 for real tho I used to think it was the biggest bullshit ever but last weekend I was shopping with my mum and I got scouted to be a model (I’m 13 btw)
The narrative about being scouted in a mall might be true but that I actually believe is total BS is when they say "I didn't even wanna be a model, I wasn't femenine at all and in fact I was a total tomboy who had never worn heels before", that's straight up crap because most of these girls looked for the opportunity.
No, scouts regularly frequent malls. I was scouted in a mall, I had some lame high school job handing out samples to people who didn’t want them when the agent approached. I’ve been modeling several years now.
Once I went to a model agency here in Brazil, I was 11 years. My mother didn't want me to be a model, but I wanted to be like Gisele Bundchen so she gave me a chance. They wanted me to lose weigh and my mother didn't allow me to comeback. I was sad and disappointed with her, but now I understand. Fashion world can be dangerous because of eating disorders and staying far away from home when they are still very young.
I never thought Gisele was one of the most or the most DROP DEAD GORGEOUS model in general, let alone Brazilian models. She cute, but seems very average and doesn't have that fierce model face. I believe Adriana Lima is one of the most gorgeous models of all time personally.
The fact that the guy asked the young girl to pull up her t-shirt and touched her stomach and then even had the audacity to say that she must take care of her body lest she would turn into a whale is just outrageous! God!
You also might look at people and think they're not model material at all, but sometimes the fashion industry is looking for a certain face. Look at Alek Wek for example, she's a top model but she's incredibly unique
I remember when I was 12 y and I was leaving school at the end of the afternoon, they were looking for models, and they gave a leaflet to some girls, I talked to a colleague that got it, she said she thought it was boring and didnt want to go, but we convinced her to go for the money. She went, took the photos, took the money and went on with life normally. Things are not tragic as they seem, few people really care about this model thing, even the ones that have beautiful kids, the vast majority just go to get some easy money and get on with life, and even those who choose to be models do not have such a difficult life, usually young people here are thin and naturally have a body to work as a model (it's not like people stop eating waiting to be chosen to become supermodels), I have models in the family and food is not their biggest problem, but the demand for time, so you can't think that every model will have eating disorder and depression, this is not a general rule.
+annie countryman she is single handedly the one who started this craze in modeling in Brazil tho. she is HUGE there. Because of her is the reason Brazil became a placer to scout models. Every agent wants to find the next gisele. (stll hasnt happened)...
Living in Brasil, you understand how superficial most folks are, it is ALL about LOOKS! People will have surgery just to get a job as a sales woman, because they must have a 'pretty' face, or have more breast, just sickening because people do not want to be themselves anymore. Everyone wants to be the NEXT (copy). love yaself and be yaself, trust me ya wil be MUCH MUCH happier.
I get why so many people don't agree with the parents choices about this, but you also need to realize that many of these people came from really small towns and they need the money
Brazilian women are being admired by Filipinos in the Philippines. Most Filipinas want to become like BRAZILIANS in terms of BEAUTY AND BODY. They are goddesses of perfect beauty. Filipinos are obsessed with BRAZILIAN blow-out, hair rebonding or straightening.
Anytime I hear someone say "they hope to groom her/him"...no matter the intent I am creeped out. Parents, be smart. There are plenty of ways to lose your children.
the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. good thing they show a lot of country side and those farm animals, for us to compare appearantly. these are human beings and the way talk about them.. ugh. just ugh.
i’m not tryna be rude but the guy said that it wasn’t just for the money but one of the girls who walked down the catwalk walk was ‘chubby’ and it’s obvious that she’s not gonna get a contract. tbh though she was like a average size but that won’t cut it in the modelling industry
@@moviesforrandy You say that because you do not live in Brazil. Here the majority have the monthly salary between 3,000 and 12,000. My father, for example, is a teacher and earns 9,500 monthly.
I'm sure, there's a slew of disgusting thugs who procure young, vulnerable and poor Brazilian girls into sex traffic. It's not uncommon there from what I understand.
That guy who told the 14 year old girl to show him her tummy really set me off. The poor girl is probably going to make that her main focus now! She's already skinny now. This just shows how the modeling industry ruins self esteem. This is a horrible industry, they're shaping the girls into how they want them to be. In the end, they're all the same.
South Brazil 80% white From there left Gisele Caroline Bündchen, Francisco Lachowski, Alessandra Corine Ambrosio, Isabelli Fontana, Alex Cunha ........
Marisol Negrete how the hell is she not Brazilian when she was born in Brasil? Just because your ancestors were from a different place doesn’t mean you are from that place as well. Me, my parents, grandparents and great grandparents where born in Brazil, but we are not Brazilian because my great great grandparents where from some place in Germany?
Ava Ava yes, I am aware that I am caucasian. But that’s not the point of the discussion. Claiming that Gisele is not Brazilian is. I don’t even understand why this is hard to understand. She was born and raised on Brazil, her mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese, her parents and sister are Brazilian. She is Brazilian and that’s a fact.
