Thanks for doing this. I LOVE vintage Vegas and that's one of the few places left. The exterior signage screams history. As far as modern things go, I love the room key wristband! And, an in-room fridge too!! AND, a FREE ride to the airport! Wow!!
It's such a gem. We counted at least 4 different couples doing photo shoots for their wedding in the few moments we were outside during golden hour. It's just a beautiful spot and screams vintage vegas. :)
We love Elcortez. We have been staying here since 2010. Every trip we always stay here. As far as the Fiesta Room, it used to be where the buffet was. So when that closed, it’s used for weddings and receptions and special events. We have hosted Grannyfest there for the last 3 years. We stay in the suites and they are great and we have also been put up in the Jackie suite as well. That is fantastic. So glad you got to review Elco. They are all great there and we highly recommend it to 🎉🎉
Thanks for the info! A buffet must have been pretty awesome. We've actually been to the El Cortez to hang at Ikes bar and saw you were doing a group pull that night! Always a fun spot. 😁
@@Dani702 well darn. I would have loved meeting you. You should have hung around. Lololol. We host Grannyfest every Oct. this last year we had 307 ppl attend. I’ll make sure to give you the date for that. It’s tentative for Oct 11 but bit firmed till I meet with them in March when we are back out. Would love to meet up. 💖💖
Just saw your comment and it sounds like you've stayed in a lot of rooms. Just out of curiosity, did you ever experience any hauntings, etc.? Staying for my first time in March at the original 47 suites and I've seen so many rumors about hauntings and now I'm apprehensive. 😂
@@katiebug199116 We have stayed in a lot of rooms there, and have never had any Hauntings. lol. Everyone is a great experience. It is our favorite place to stay. Hope you enjoy your stay there. 💖
So nice to see the Cortez get the much needed love. A few years back, you would have never thought about staying more than a few minutes there!! Now with the recent renovations, its yet another gem in downtown.
The El Cortez is the FIRST casino hotel my husband and I first went to in Las Vegas. This was back in early 2000! We stayed at the old rooms above the casino floor. The floors creaked in the hallway and inside the room! It was that old. But your video brings back lots of memories. Years later we were vacationing in London. This was around 2017. Our hotel was in Knightsbridge, and a short walk to Harrod's. A small but quaint travel agency was situated across from Harrod's. In the agency's window was a placard offering a vacation package to London. A fast flight to Las Vegas and a stay at a luxurious hotel casino. Upon reading the print, the luxurious hotel casino was the El Cortez!
The El Cortez is a Go-To for me. I've Always been treated like Royalty while I'm there. The Staff & Management are always accommodating, friendly & take care of all my needs. Last time I was there though, the Prime Rib Dinner was $7.95. 😋
Fantastic tour of our downtown favorite location and people whenever we are in Las Vegas. I am glad you showed the menu to the restaurant. Probably the only casino on planet earth that offers Matzo Brie and Loco Moco on the same menu, which tells you they cater to their customers traditional favorites. El Cortez is a gem, and I hope they never change.
Everything looks fantastic. Looks like a short hop to the container park, EAT, my favorite breakfast spot, and the downtown artsy fartsy district. Thanks a million!
Ya! Container Park is right across the street. I did a whole bit about the places I like that are within a block or two from the hotel but took it out to focus more on the hotel itself since the video was getting long. Its a great spot for bar hopping though!
Always a great place , My favorite are the original 47 , The vintage rooms , With period correct furniture , Don't do the cabana yet, stay in vintage rooms . Great breakfast in that place , Great job guys take care
I would love to stay in one of the original rooms. The photos online look epic. I'd have to make it a night I know I'm going to be out late since they are closer to the street 😉
We really enjoyed it. I only wish the lounge had entertainment that night because I always enjoy happy hour at the Parlour Bar with their lounge singers.
It's been a bit since I've been up that way. It used to be a sketchy walk but being a history buff, I had to make the trek. Hopefully it's a lot better. I have got to say, their rooms look a lot better than some I've stayed in on Freemont! That Bison burger...I'd be all over that!!! Hope to be out in March before we head to spring training so...depending on your advice on the area, we'll be hitting this place! If for whatever reason you come to Wisconsin, we have, hands down the best Ole Fashions in the Nation. While it may not have originated here, we perfected it!
It's hard to say. I go out there pretty often and some days it feels sketchy and others I feel totally comfortable. Though, I do also go often by myself when Im filming too so it can't be to bad if I feel safe enough to do that. I am from LA tho. Hah.
@@Dani702 thanks for the info. We're in Kilwaukee so pretty much the same. This is going to be a must visit, if not with my wife, then certainly the guys later this summer!!! Thanks again.
Well done. What an icon of vintage Vegas. Everyone should go there and give them some business to keep them alive. We stopped in last time and enjoyed its charm and great history. We do want to stay a couple of overnights, and will report if we witness any ghosts! Cheers.
I 100 percent agree. We frequent a few bars & music venues close by and always drop in for the margarita and vibes. The passion to preserve the history at the hotel is so cool and rare.
As a new subscriber, I'm enjoying you and your videos. You put a more relaxed and fun spin on the Vegas experience! I love your side comments; so candid and clever! I also love your older videos from 5 years ago (I do miss the Monte Carlo). Thank you for all that you do.
Happy New Year! That was a great, comprehensive overview of the El Cortez. I am seriously considering Fremont Steet for my next Vegas stay. This looks inviting!
Hey Dani, thank you for sharing your experience at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino. I agree with you. It is a great place to stay, has great food, and most important to me, a very friendly staff that goes out of there way to make you feel welcomed, and make up for any mishaps that my happen. I stayed there in late April of last year and they were really great! Thanks for sharing Dani!
Looks like a good update for the rooms. But like you I am a very lite sleeper and that is why we have never stayed downtown. But at some point, I want us to stay just for the experience and holy lord that breakfast looked tasty! Thank you for making this one!
Yas! You gotta do it at least once. You'll probably be ok if you request a room on the opposite side of Fremont and a newer room like the tower or even the cabanas.
I have so many photos of El Cortez because I love the facade but I have never been inside! It's gorgeous. Such a great hotel. Thank you for showing us. I will be sure to visit on my next trip. Cheers
Great video, Im glad you tried the multiple dining options, shows variety and getting a review is key.Especially since not all of the dining options are on property. We visit downtown every trip, but have never stopped at El Cortez. Next trip we will have to stop in there.😊
Looks like a cool place at an excellent low price. Love vintage Vegas and it’s history. The $16.95 Prime Rib would be a must eat for me. Sushi looks decent.
😊😊😊great tour. Spectacular video. I've stayed in the original rooms..love the history. Also have had the prime rib special. Whether I th was $9.95 back in the day tob$16.95 today the quality and quantity remained the same. The prime rib special is available available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even late night. Love the old school slots. One of the few places left!
I have always wanted to stay at the El Cortez. The room looks cozy. I like, although it’s an old room, that they have modern amenities. Great job Dani!
I love the El Cortez, best gambling in town. Also their rooms are pretty good. Better than some of the strip hotel rooms. Thanks for this review, keep it up!
Great Video Dani!! I'll be out in Vegas in a couple of weeks for the SHOT show at the Venetian Expo, and I am hoping to get down to Freemont one night... definitely will check out the El Cortez if I do. :)
Hi Dani, love seeing these historic casinos, and you have such a good time videoing them. I wonder why the balconies are sealed off. Also, is that casino considered haunted? Like always, you make me so hungry when you try the food. I wonder which casino food you consider to be the best. Take care. 😊
I feel like all the older casinos are said to be haunted. I didn't eat that vibe at all though. No doubt, each of those food spots were great! We will definitely go back to each.
Great review as always!!! Although this is a vintage hotel it looked really nice in the rooms and casino. Restaurants looked very good too. Might have to give it a try there next time I'm in Vegas. Keep up the awesome reviews!!!!
Thank you for the video. Had to re-watch from this morning. I love this place. Id rather stay in the main tower than the cabanas. Tiger roll looks delicious. Old fashions are my go to also. The breakfast looks amazing. Stay classy gorgeous lady ✨️
The breakfast was spot on. I was so hungry when I woke up lol. Should have done all you can eat at the sushi but I wanted to show some of each spot. 😉😉
Great video! I really want to try all of those restaurants now. I really need to do a Downtown trip one of these days. There’s so many good food and gambling options there.
Really enjoyed your video Dani. Well done. El Cortez does look like a nice place to stay. I am not wild about the resort fee as I consider it to be a plain and simple rip-off. Why don't the casinos have just one bottom line price instead of the two tier hotel room fee plus resort fee?
Great job Dani. I love the old school vib and decor. I can’t believe how nice the room is for the price.....this a place I want to stay next time I visit Vegas. You mentioned they will bring you to the airport.... I wonder if they pick you up when you arrive? Love your videos
I'm not sure about the shuttle from the airport. I saw the mention in the hotel brochure we got when we checked in and it looked like it was to the airport. But worth a call to them for sure!
My favorite downtown spot! I’ve been waiting for you to feature El Cortez. Love it! BTW…are you still rocking Colour Pop’s lip color? It looks fab! Hugs from Austin!
Hello, Sounds like it was a great time, have never been there have always been on the strip, may have to try this next trip.. almost came this weekend (birthday weekend) but getting over a bad knee injury wasn't up to all the walking I know I'd do.. but everything looked great nice room. Food choices (except sushi..lol) I'm very limited there.. keep up with the vintage places, very interesting.. see ya..
DT is very different then the strip. I love DT. A little rough on the edges but honestly, so its the strip haha. Happy Birthday!!!! I hope your knee heals up quick.
Hi Dani hope you and Eddie had a great New Year’s Eve and I hope you both have the best 2024 ever, now that resort is amazing and just like you said it has that retro vibe which is right up my alley and it would be a dream of mine to stay there that’s how much I like the resort also I really liked your room especially the view but I will have to be perfectly honest with you when you showed the different foods you ate I got hungry as heck because it looked so darn good and I love Sushi 🍣 and your breakfast looked amazing and I say the because breakfast is my favorite meal of the day also I can’t forget the magnificent neon signs which blew my mind so thank you for a beautiful tour of such a beautiful place, now with that peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Dani and Eddie and I’ll see you on the next awesome Vegas vlog adventure peace ☮️ out ✌️
Happy New Year! The each food option was great! But that sushi was bomb!!! I would totally go back. I've already told Eddie I want that dessert again too. haha. The hotel is a classic. :)
During a vacation to Las Vegas I HAD to play at the El Cortez, just because it was classic old school Vegas. I saved a chip from there, and I think I bought some used playing cards too.
That microphone in the shower to do karaoke 😂. The prime rib special I heard is way better than the tony romas special. That $8 winning paid your Margarita 🍹
Great video Dani ,I havent been to the El Cortez in about 15 years. Thank you for showing us ,me and my wife will have to venture downtown sometime soon and try it out!! Last time we were there they still had the $1.00 breakfast so that tells you how long its been 😂
I honestly didnt notice it they whole time. But, we were only there for the one night. It was loose enough that I was able to get it off when I went to bed though.
Hi Dani, congrats on winning the $8, how can Vegas casinos stay in business? 🤣 I remember you did a video on I think it was the Apache Hotel and you mentioned it was rumored to be haunted. I love that kind of stuff and was wondering if you experienced anything like that at the El Cortez? 👻👻👻
I got that at a random store in Vegas. It was next to a target and I can't remember the name of the store. I dont think its a chain though. One of those cheapo fast fashion shops.
My father was one of the original owners of the El Cortez. Though a minor investor. The two top owners were Marion Hicks and J K Housels. Later, the hotel was sold to Bugsy Siegle and Myer Lansky.
Hi, Dani.702 and Eddie..., Beautiful ! ! Excellent video and very informative, and "Thank you" for sharing the video ! ! I could have watched this video..., over and over, again... Dani.702 is bright, intelligent, and attractive ! ! All the food in the video..., made me hungry ! ! Looking forward to future videos and I am happy..., that I "Subscribed" to your excellent channel and reviews'... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)
You need a sound machine that has brown, green or white noise. I've been using one for over 30 years. If a bug hits the window on the backside of the house I would hear it. The machine makes a world of difference... How ya going to melt that butter waiting until the end ?
Lol. The bug hitting the house made me laugh. I have a fan that I use at home that works but it's not travel friendly. I always try to use my phone for while noise when I'm traveling but no help so far. Normally the constant fan in the rooms helps but it's the bass that even shakes the rooms that get me.
Wait, was the prime rib $16.99 or $60.99? :) When my Mom took me to Vegas for the first time in the mid to late 80's we stayed at the El Cortez. It was her favorite. Thanks for the nostalgia trip! You always do a great job!
Great video. Just a little note; the salmon that you love has been farmed and its full of chemicals, which basically makes it toxic. I used to eat it all the time, then I found out what happens to the fish in the fish farms....you look like you are into health, otherwise I wouldnt have bothered saying anything. Keep up the great videos. Thankyou : )
Yes the Golden gate was the first hotel but my mention was about the El Cortez claims as the first "major resort in DT". Could be the size, offerings, or maybe how many rooms it had since I think GG had only 10 rooms at open and was a lot smaller. 🤷
