Judging by all the comments, I guess I'm one of the few that adore this design. I love how the light-filled open spaces and dim "nooks and crannies" ebb and flow into each other. It feels monumental and intimate at the same time. It's like you're constantly exploring, and along the way you keep on finding cozy spaces that invite you to stop and reflect for a while.

I am shocked this is up for sale as a home! Decades ago, I was a docent for the nearby Hollyhock House & we toured this legendary, magnificent structure pre-restoration. It was such a privilege and honor to walk inside one of Mr. Wright's famous homes. I really thought it would be protected as a historical building? Well, compared to what I remember seeing, the restoration was very well done and it was much needed.

I helped restor the house. We weren't able to restore all of the blocks do to us being on a time line and on a budget. We went above and beyond to get this house where its at today. Do to the house being very poorest we had to waterproof the entire house and butler house with 2 types of waterproof materials.. thats why it now has a sheen from a far on a sunny day. Also this house has a basement under the main courtyard, and the billers room has a door behind the bar that lead in to another room. Speaking of other rooms next to the lemon tree under the main bedroom theres a little door that leads into another little room. The original matter windows had to get replaced Because we couldn't get them clean they had used a different type of glass that you could barely see out of and no matter what we used to clean them the would still end up hazy. There's also another room with a bathroom next to the kitchen that no one ever talks about i don't know why. Lol oh and there's also a Powder Room right before you go up the steps in to the living room and dining room area. And next to the billiard room there's a laundry room. Theres so much more to this house but I don't want to be here all day if you have any questions just ask.. I know this house like the back of my hand I worked on it 4 years and the memories on this project, I will never forget and nether will my former co workers as this house brought us together and created new friendships that till this day are still around. Every time it was someone's b- day we would throw them in the pool before going home lol NO ONE GOT AWAY EVERYONE GOT THROWN IN THE POOL even our manager Gabriel.

I've been to a few of FLW houses , while he was an amazing architect none of this houses feel like you're in a house, they are more like offices.Another problem with his houses is that you can't change anything, you are living in a piece of artwork, and there is no place to hang any type of paintings, you're stuck with the furniture because no other style of furniture would work with that interior design.

The place has a lot of great ideas in there, love the logia, ponds, pools and private balcony. Not a fan of the compression & release especially with concrete. Love the terrasse and window glass corners. The Art Deco touches are also excellent.

I seen several documentaries about this house, but this was the first inside tour (probably because of the condition prior to restoration. Frank Lloyd Wrights' interiors always feel a bit more like museums than homes. That's because he took the aesthetic to the Nth degree; the interior matches the exterior; the furniture matches everything else. Which is great for award winning innovative design, not so great on the tushy. Thx for sharing!

Wright was a genius designer and architect, but his buildings had some serious issues like Fallingwater and Ennis House and always were more difficult and expensive to build in reality. That house is for someone who has 23 Mill as play-money, and skipping a new private jet or McLaren F1 buy for this.
@WakandaBabe

It's extremely beautiful and I've always loved Frank Lloyd Wright's work though I don't think I would ever want to live in it personally. It would be like living in the Palace of Versailles, I wouldn't feel comfortable slouching around in such a formal, opulent environment with old artifacts and luxurious furniture everywhere. I view it more as a work of art to observe and admire rather than a home for me to live in.
