Good luck in California. Unless it's in the desert or mountains. See that road behind the house with the cars going by? It's a nightmare in the summer time.
+Christina Z. The Brosnans have moved to Hawaii, which is where they should have built this house in the first place. $100M for a home on a ONE acre lot next to a noisy stretch of highway with neighbors both within earshot and eyeshot does not make for a secluded romantic hideaway. Why they built this expensive home in crowded Malibu is beyond me as it wasn't a wise business (resale) decision. I bet they get only $50M (if that) on the sale of this home. FYI, $100M breaks down to $8,000 per sq. ft.
Location, location, location. A neighbor also sold his house for 100M, so it's possible Brosnan might get it. But he didn't pay that much to build it. He bought two lots 20 years ago for around 10M and combined them.
If someone told me this home was 15-20M I would say yeah okay fair, but like 100M thats genuinely insane . If someone pays 100M for this house they should be admitted to a psychiatric facility.
Location. Location. Location...Probably one of most expensive zip codes in world, And the carving on those doors was probably a couple hundred thou. Dozens of unique very expensive bits of art in there.

It is Malibu Beach! This is what happens when people put fashion over substance. It is very nice and it must be a lovely location if you like the water but the world has surely gone mad if one beach house is so costly.
Kids are grown and homes that size are a lot of work. And Malibu real estate substantially increased value, so it's worth so much more now than when it was built. They have a lot of fires there. The ocean is rising, so some homes have already be washed away. He's got 7 movies in production so I imagine he's not home a lot. Lastly, they call Kauai home now, so don't really need that much mansion in Malibu anymore. Keely grew up on Oahu and they are quarantining there and likely decided to just stay permanently as that's where they're happiest. There are a lot of reasons, I'm sure.
When people get old possession weight them down. It is common among the elderly to auction and give away stuff to live lighter. They can still splurge in hotels and resorts.
Right? Why spend so much time and energy on a place that is meant to be a dream home just to sell it. I mean, she took 3 YEARS to find just the right shade of green for the roof tiles. Bored rich people problems.
Insanity! There is no way I am paying anything more than $35m for that! Do you take me for a fool?!? [He says, sitting on his bed in a sublet room of a grimy apartment, surrounded by empty Pringles cans and Christmas chocolates]
rosmarbal out of all the old donkeys in their pathetic party..the dems didn’t have a choice but to go with an old senile guy and whamen chosen because of her gender and color 😷🤷♂️
"Ties in the classiness of France with the casualness of Asia"??? What a weird comment to make about a continent. Isn't the inspiration specifically Thai? If so, those ornate doors didn't look "casual" to me.
LITERALLY. The intricacies of Indian, Chinese, Thai, Persian etc architecture are FAR from casual. And it's almost derogatory to compare Asian architecture with French (eww)
@@alixharnist4670 LOL! What world are you living in? Rich people have kids, dogs and are often in the music industry. Are you 12? Yeah....I'm guessing your 12 or just really stupid.
Ridiculously expensive with decor that's at odds with the architecture, and zero privacy in your garden.. Many beautiful elements individually but it doesn't come together at all
You said exactly what I was thinking. Neoclassic French design with Thai architecture just does not work. Additionally, considering the cost of living in Thailand, you can move over there and get 10 of their most luxurious homes for the price of this one.
Youre forgetting one thing tho, part of it is covered with glass around for the wind. You dont get that everywhere :) What would it cost to cover your patio with glass $4-5K? make it $10K.
@@hedonisticsociety361 i believe it has to do with the painful history attached to the word ‘master’ as someone who owned slaves ~~ it also carries heavily classist assumptions i.e. “lord of the manner” etc. - I’d do more research tho
@@rhianalice87 there's actually NO evidence that suggests a master bedroom came from slavery. "Master" just means grand or main. If you do research on it, it will explicitly say this.
@@robsanders5808 Really, why didn't he just say that? Describing a cross-cultural fusion as a "hodge podge" is equally offensive. Besides, that's not what I was going for in my comment. What's problematic is this contrast he sets up with France being "classy" and Asia being "casual," it's very colonialist.
Besides the location and the fact former James Bond is the owner, the very expensive materials used in the house like tons of onyx also help increasing the asking price...
I don't know man...i mean there is a highway literally 100 meters above you. Approach to the beach, the house itself etc is georgeous, but it's not worth 100 mil
@Jumpin Jo Hosafatz If you want bragging rights just go for the other prestigious parts of LA like Beverly Hills or Bel Air. For the same price you can easily get more private and less noisy properties. Bel Air is expensive too but at least you get pretty decent properties. This property shown in the video is a straight up rip off for 100M.
Yh you're right it's super expensive there, but still overpriced, I agree about the location but it's not in paradise, I guess that's how crazy the market is nowadays
The price tag is probably just marketing, so that when someone offers a fraction of it, it's still above market value and who isn't interested in looking at a home of that price? It sure makes it stand out. Besides "The classiness of France and the casualness of Asia" wtf...
@@thewebmogul nah because he's been in many movies recently and also got projects for 2021 if you check his imdb page. Money is definitely not an issue for him
How will the unfortunate fact of global warming and rising sea-levels fare with this property..?? (BTW. we should get our act together and reduce green house gas emissions.)
Nope, I'd take 10Mil and purchase a much better mansion in The Ridges (Las Vegas). Then take the 90Mil and purchase a private Island in French Polynesia which I can turn into a resort to recoup my $100M's 🤣
Haha great catch. I take aerial photography/videography for real estate advertising and it is always much easier to pull away from the property and run the video backwards :)
That’s racist when you say “classyness of France with the casualness of Asia”. What’s to say that Thailand and the rest of Asia is not classy? That perspective has roots in white supremacy, and I hope this kind of dialog changes for Architectural Digest in the future.
@@ian1856 Everyone can improve to be more inclusive :) I hope that you have happiness and joy in your life so that one day you won’t feel the need to unnecessarily cut people down. :)
The host was cringey AF but stop being a snowflake, I am from asia and yes that line doesnot make any sense coz asian architechture is anything but casual. But I did not take any offence from that . May be ppl with inferiority complex gets easily triggered by stuff like these. As a fellow south asian I Suggest you to please widen your perspective which will make you happy . peace
This house was bought for about $5M in 2000, and has a taxable value for 2020 of about $8.6M. I feel like they'll be lucky to get $15M unless there were massive renovations that the assessors aren't aware of.
Well...most of the recently sold homes on Malibu beach have sold for $10M-$20M, and Brosnan took this house off the market because nobody was willing to pay $100M. Meanwhile, the taxable value for 2021 is now $8.7M.
I'm just amazed how the entire comments section appears to be self-declared experts on the Malibu Real Estate market while also being architects... People, you're being ridiculous.
hello thanks for introducing her to us i actually did the trade with a loan from my friend and now with the profits i payed up and now am happy and comfortable
@@juice1736 my neighbors house in Malibu has more property and is walking distance to the beach. They bought the house for like 14 mil and it has an 8 car underground parking garage and it's 5 acres. It isn't beach front but this house is way overpriced even for beachfront Malibu. Beachfront properties in Malibu r usually around 20 to 40 mil. 100 is just waaaay to underpriced and it doesn't even have any insane features. It's a nice house though
Beautiful house! When you take Pierce's name off the mortgage, and with the close neighbors and proximity to highway, it seems much more like a $20M house .
Nope, new houses in the hills there and not even on the beautiful beach are being built to sell for $20million. But I wish this would stop, they are really ruining what was once special about my Malibu.
The house is waaaay overpriced -there will be plenty of negotiating on the price because they wil never get the asking price -it will sell for less than half that -if they are lucky. And with a state of the art gym - it is just unfortunate that Keeley doesn't take advantage of it. Maybe 3 kitchens is 2 too many!
One word overpriced but it’s California and on top of that it is Malibu. So practically the 80% of the price is due it’s location (Malibu) and the rest 20% is the actual house itself. The 20m is still over priced but we can try to justify if we consider it is a celebrity house, located on the ocean, in California and they have imported things overseas to build it. Okay I’m still not convinced..
I am french and this style is what we call "kitch and bling" here, not "french style". This is american style thinking classy and going totally wrong. It does not respect the mood of the house. According to AD Brosman wanted a house like the one he experienced in Thailand during the shot of James Bond. I guess he forget to hire an interior architect to keep the Thai spirit also inside the house…
Holy cow! What a house! If my jaw could drop any lower, it'd be hitting the floor!!! I'm just wondering why after all the personal work designing this house for 10 yrs, to their exact "dream home" specifications, why in the world would they be selling it?
"The classiness of France with the casualness of Asia". Really AD? Is this the best you can do? The content of so many of your videos is appalling. The bar is so low.
