Cool video. This is where my MT09 was born. Yamaha is still producing most of their bikes in Japan, unlike the other 3 that has outsourced most manufacturing.

I just bought a 2018 Yamaha V Star 250 Lowrider Custom Cruiser in Raven Black metallic last August. And after 50 years outta the saddle. Not enough iridescent flake in the paint to see easily from various angles. But it's a torquey lil V-Twin SOHC that looks bigger than it is. And at 326lbs, it's light enough for noobs or older returning riders like me to toss around. The 27.5" seat height makes it great for shorter folks too! And I'm 67 & average height. Fun bike so far!

Human workers are actually an advantage in a rapidly changing marketplace. Cars have annual model changes and generational changes every 3 to 5 years. The company most responsive to the fashions of the marketplace wins. Humans can adapt to design updates easily. They can also use quality circles where the people who know the job the best, the actual workers, define and continually improve the process. Tesla has a shock coming in 5 or 10 years. They put so much money into their gigapress chassis that they won't be able to change them. It is a huge hassle to reprogram the assembly robots, so good enough is good enough. First you get a process perfect, then you automate it. Unless you are in a hurry. Tesla likes to talk about rolling changes into the product immediately, but they have painted themselves into a corner where inertia will overcome all and they will just keep turning the crank and producing the same thing,

All very true. I know these things as 2nd generation Ford/UAW. Humans are for more easily adoptable than the computer-controlled tooling these days.

Great vid , but maybe the actual designers behind the bikes could be a good video , Yamaha’s range is brilliant of late with the MT series of bikes , MT-07 . MT-09 & the MT-10 and so far ahead of their time , only now 5-6 yeArs late the other manufactures are just starting to copy.
