He has Rick's alcoholism, Stan Smith's stubbornness, underhanded tactics of Stanley pines as well as the intellect of stanford. Guy's the worst part of good shows
Idk whats worse, the fact that he made her shoot those turtles, or that he left a child, that clearly doesnt understand what radiation really is, able to use enough to fucking nuke those turtles.
"Okay kid, let's go put down your turtles together... right after we get you checked out to make sure you didn't irradiate yourself. I mean, radiation is dangerous! Doesn't matter if radiation gives you superpowers if you get cancer in the process. That Bruce Banner Hulk guy would be a walking tumor if the comics were realistic at all."
She's dead inside a little outer pain doesn't matter to her. Especially when you're in the middle of a trauma flashback. I once almost got burned bc I was lost in a flashback while my hand was on a hot table in summer.
@Lucas De Araújo Marques I actually believe she has more of sociopathic tendencies. They also tend to disregard pain really easely. As Autists are born and Sociopaths made. She technically could be both. What would be really messed up. Autists don't understand other peoples feelings. Sociopaths do. They just don't give a damn of others peoples feelings. An autistic sociopath would be kind of interesting but cruel existence. Not being able to understand other peoples feelings. But you don't care that you don't because you hate people in general.
Judging by his enthusiasm, Rand probably saw the two of them shooting the turtles as some kind of twisted father-daughter bonding activity. Reagan's poor therapist probably threw their back out unpacking all of these issues.
Rand has already put him self in the top 10 worst cartoon fathers. Every episode is a pushing him closer the position of #1. Damn this horrible human being.
@@shaw1243 but has he already passed modern Peter Griffin? Or Heihachi Mishima (video game character, ik. But Tekken has had some animated adaptations)?
That's exactly what I thought when I saw the 2018 reboot air, but when the movie came out in August this year, I heard so much abt how good the show was. I checked it out and it's my new favorite thing probably ever. They changed the characters a lot but it's bc Nickelodeon wanted the show to be more comedic and kid friendly, but they really made it work well! I am more emotionally attached to these turtles than I am to my own hand
@Tsuivan maybe the humor isn't as appealing to me/other viewers cuz we're older now, growing up on the early 2000's and 2012 turtles and being too old for 2018's humor. Then again it got me to laugh pretty often
I honestly tell Reagan that it was a good project, tell her what she actually did to the poor little guys, give her a big hug and ice cream to make her feel better, and explain to not try that again till she works out the bugs. I know it is alot but her sad got to me.
When it comes to kids, that’s exactly what a lot of people would do. Heck, I’d ask her if I could help in being a part of her project (understanding mutagenic properties, developing an approximation for Mutagen, or making next-generation robotic models as an option) as a sort of bonding experience. With Rand, he went out of his way to make a giant, physically unsettling robot so he wouldn’t have to personally console her. Couple that with her mother, being the living embodiment of narcissism and egotism that she is, and it’s a miracle that Regan didn’t grow up to be a genuine serial killer.
Turtles aside, he should have showed some concern about her getting cancer. If she got access to radioactive material strong enough to kill a few pets but didn't understand the risks, she could have easily exposed herself to dangerous levels of radiation in the process.
To be fair, letting her know now than to find 4 dead turtles that suffered from cancer the entire time was for the best. His execution (pun not intended) and the way he told her, definitely needs some work. To put it mildly...
Yeah.....except he then handed her a gun and made her kill them. The fact she didn't OD on ambien at age 12 is a fucking miracle. He's a monster with no redeeming qualities.
Agreed! I mean they were gonna die anyway, but he could have explained her what she did to the turtles in the most sensitive way possible instead of being a completely A**HOLE about it!!
@@cartooncottage2024 True, doubt sending him to someplace like mars or the centre of the earth can even stop him from getting back. We’ve seen how determined he was in the series.
Considering how neglectful and self-absorbed her mother was depicted as being, he was probably the only person who even paid attention to her during her life.
(Meanwhile in an alternate universe) Child Beth: "Daddy, I gave my pet turtles radiation to make them mutant ninja turtles!" Younger Rick: (Drunk) (Genuinely enthusiastic) "Aw man, that's awesome, sweetie! We can go out and do vigilante justice as a team, like go beat up some of those asshole alien Gromflomites that keep pestering daddy and his friends Birdperson and Squancy and..." (Voice changes from excited to concerned) "Wait what?" Child Beth: "I told you Daddy, I just exposed them to radiation!" Younger Rick: (Panciking) "Oh f***ing s**t. Sweetie we gotta go quickly genetically modify those turtles to be immune to radiation right now!" Child Beth: "What, why?" Rick: "I don't have time to tell you! Quick we gotta run to my underground lab!" (Later we see Rick and Beth depositing the now mutated turtles in the middle of the woods in New Jersey. The turtles have now been mutated to be radiation proof, including becoming the size of human children as a side effect. However the turtles still do not have human-like arms or legs, nor are they teenagers or ninjas.) One of the turtles: "Farewell beloved creators! We go now to live with the other New Jersey monsters like the Jersey devil and the Sasquatch at their hidden hippie farm compound!" Beth: (Crying) "Why didn't the turtles become ninja turtles?" Rick: (Affectionate) "Oh sweetie. You need high quality radioactive space goo to turn turtles into ninja turtles. Even daddy is unable to get his hands on any of the good s**t." Beth: (Crys) Rick: "You wanna go get some ice cream?" Beth: (Instantly forgets about the turtles, having a child's attention span) "Yay!"
@@seanurbik4092 Maybe. Maybe it's Rick C137 before Beth's mom died. However I found Rick has usually been nicer to Beth in the show then he is to Morty, since it seemed he was angry that Morty was the result of Jerry impregnanting Beth (by slipping her roofies) and which "doomed her" to a life of "mediocrity" (becoming a veterinary instead of a doctor) and made it so that Rick would never have a grandson near his own levelof scientific intelligence that he could emotionally bond with.
How about hating the soulless drawing out and commodification of what was once a novel and charming franchise. They keep "weekend at Bernies"-ing these shows that have a right to die in peace.
@@hermitmoth6118 I mean the newest versions of the turtles aren't great, but lets not act like the 2000 and 2012 shows weren't great, maybe nothing will be as big as the original black and white comic, but ignoring good content is still pretty biased, and diminishing of the accomplishment the series has had.
@@eyeaid9817 The new ones may not be the best and some episodes are cheesy as fuck, but it's actually pretty enjoyable. The animations are top tier and the character dynamics are actually pretty fresh and engaging. The old character dynamics are pretty much just Leo and Raph arguing, Raph is annoyed by Mike and Mike messing with Donni. It got boring by the 2nd iteration.
@@salamander8055 I actually disagree heavily, I think the old charachter dynamics worked because they were all based around core archtetypes, the fact that the newest show messed with all the turtles personalities the most is my biggest problem with it, as well as I find sometimes the jump between the really good parts of the animation to the mostly still shots jaring, because I don't find the new style particulary interesting to look at.
TBH, I'm pretty sure Ridley could create her own Ninja Turtles. In fact, I will be very disappointed if she doesn't do that. Pretty sure that's going to be a major monkey paw moment for me.
Points for honesty, deductions for execution. Why is no one talking about this little girl having access to radioactive material. How did she not irradiate herself, she is like 6.
@@Ando1428 No, not for life. I know because I was broken like this too. But, I had a good person who came into my life, and they put me back together with a lot of love. And when I get a little unstuck they put the piece back in place. The cracks are still there, but I'm not broken any more. I'm a repair in progress. And so is Reagan - JR is a power hungry SOB but he gave her Brett and they need each other. He's the big brother she always needed to shield her from the world and have her back no matter what. She's the family he always needed.
No. Only the cringey kids and teens trying to hard to look cool do that dumb stuff. Think its something every generation went through were you'd say stupid or cringey stuff trying to fit in with a group only because of the fact those things were trendy and cool so they had to work for real.... which yeah cringe. Lol
How deeply twisted her childhood must have been. Trauma is one thing, but if your body instinctively goes hostile over a hug without you actively controlling it, that is some really deeply imprinted shit.
I kinda do that, even though I was never abused as a kid. And not only hug, to any type of touching. I just strongly dislike beeing touched, even by friends. That explains why so many people have asked me if I have problems at home, including my school's phycologist 🥴
I see a lot of people comparing him to rick, but I don’t understand what you mean when his response is literally something Rick would do without a thought. Admittedly his delivery is a lot worse, but that’s mostly because Rick is monotone and never actually cares about anything. You’re essentially comparing two different types of Narcissists and then saying one is worse than the other because “at least one of them cares for his daughter”
To be fair, rick would probably get the turtles immune to radiation, then let them leave as monsters to new jersey while also explaining to a very traumatised and then crying beth why she fucked up and get her something to feel better afterwards because beth is definately ricks favourite
I feel like Rick would be more disturbed by this and not leave radioactive material around, but that’s just me, or he’d be more involved and have told her that that’s not how things work. Rick likes doing science shit with his family if you’ve noticed, unless it requires a lot of attention and finesse. He’s always showing them new experiments and asking for their help, being in their lives. Ricks still an asshole don’t get me wrong, but I feel like he makes more of an effort to connect with his family, even if it’s at a distance. This guy just traps anyone who gets close enough to him in his little bubble where he can always get to them and they can’t get away. Tbh I’d rather be around a narcissist that doesn’t think they need anyone so they don’t really use you ( I think most of Rick using morty was an excuse for them to hang out), than one who knows they need people but won’t admit it, so they’re more sly and deliberate in that manipulation.
Because Rick is a narcissistic drunk, but still human and loves his family deep down. Rang Ridley on the other hand is a full on Sociopath and Megalomaniac. He doesn't care for his family or social life. All he cares about is success and power. He feels he needs to be the smartest man in the room and doesn't care how anyone even his own daughter feels or acts around him. Only that it suits his needs. All he feels is apathy towards others. Rick on the otherhand has empathy to a degree and shows emotion and reactions to his family and how they act or feel about him. I mean look at the stark differences Rick created many inventions and gadgets for his daughter and even his grandson to garner their affection and awe. Meanwhile Rang creates inventions to distance himself from his daughter and keep her busy/away from him so he can work. Rick still teaches morales and lessons no matter how messed up and supports his family emotionally compared to Rang neglecting his daughter and stunting if not outright breaking her emotionally from a young age to her current age. Idk. Normally I don't compare fictional characters because you can go at it all day no matter how stupid it is. You know like the whole "Could they beat Goku?" BS. Because honestly thats just a battle of who can god mode their characters harder and no one likes someone who god modes a character. But in the sense of who is a better father? Thats easy since we have easy to compare points in both shows to draw a comparison.
Least Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty actually cares about his daughter. He would’ve said he was proud, then when she leaves he would’ve sighed and said “Shit, she gave them cancer.
Say what you want about Rick as a father but Rand took it to a new level, Rick would cure or clone the turtles behind Regans back, then he would show her how to correctly make her own version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Plus Rick admits he was a bad father all the way, and he actually does give his family the satisfaction of hugging them physically and not making a robot to do so. And Rick never erased any memories of Beth without her consent: space Beth situation and in Regan’s case: Orrin.
@@89technical Rand's worse than Rick. At least Rick knows he's a terrible father. Rand actually believes he was a good father to Reagan. Which is so much worse.
Rand Ridley really had to go and crush his daughter’s dreams and then force her to go through a traumatic moment by having her shoot them. Guy is father of the year😂
No wonder she wants to take over the world, she wanted her parents to be proud of her but instead got her friends killed, now she wants to show everyone how capable she is but has constant insecurity holding her back specially outside her professional life, is easy to see how one thing turn into other.
Reagan just standing there pouring the coffee while her eye twitches, not even noticing that she's being horribly scalded, with that tight frown on her lips, is one of the best gags in the whole season. After a rough and often unfunny first couple of episodes, they really started nailing the comedic timing later on in the season.
I feel like it’s be easy to spin a case of innocent patricide, and on a side note i am really glad that the actual TMNT cartoons have never really went in that direction
Awwwwww poor little reagan, if she was my daughter, I would be the best dad ever with love, hugs and I'll be proud of her if she did this again, this scene breaks my heart 😢🥺💔
“Sweetie that is so inventive and the cutest little experiment ever.” 😊 “Are you proud of me?” 🤩 “AHAHA are you kidding you just gave those turtles cancer!” 😈
I'm not sure what Raegan was thinking at the time, but the 1987 TMNT show used Mutagen/Ooze for the mutations. Maybe radiation was a easier to get than bioengineering her own Ooze.
Buck Cluck and Ozai: No way hozay. This scumbags OURS. Ozai: At least I'm not really a character, I'm just a bunch of tropes and cliches badly put together. Buck Cluck: And at least I felt remorse and WANTED to do better in the end.
I partly defend Rand If not, what would have happened if he had caught the turtles and buried them in the forest? Well, maybe his daughter had repeated the experiment with birds, cats, and even other children.
There's a natural comparison because Rick and Rand are both "dads that are scientific geniuses yet also selfish assholes". Homer and Peter are just "average joes".
@@greed42o It's not about who's "worst", it's about comparing what type of professions they have. Peter snd Homer are low level white collar office workers while Rick and Rand are scientific researchers.
