Supermodel Linda Evangelista still uses the Birkin bag she selected in an Hermès boutique back in 1985. “I really liked this one, it was on a top, top shelf, and it had dust on it, and they advised me not to take this because they said it was démodé, and I wore it every single day,” British Vogue’s September 2022 cover star recalls in this episode of In The Bag. As for what she keeps inside of it? Everything but the kitchen sink. “I’m prepared for doomsday at home, and if I’m out and about,” she quips. They don’t use it as closet decor. These bags take decades to look worn because they’re made of the best quality leather. Sturdy leather materials started later. Earlier leather were more malleable.

Okay, I knew who she was (obvi, gorgeous supermodel of the 90’s) but this is the first time I’ve heard her speak, & I just have to say she has one of the prettiest & feminine voices I’ve heard. She kinda sounds like Lana Del Rey when she talks at times. Also, she earned my respect with the worn in Birkin & the amazing taste in fragrance. Guerlain is top tier with an incredible long history. I’m so glad she showed the USB-C adaptor. All of these other models were showing their new phones and their old wired earphones. But no one had an adapter in their bag. She had air pods but somehow she also had the adapter. Regarding the Birkin bag, the person who had the most used Birkin bag, I’ve ever seen was Jane Birkin. Stickers on it, scratches. Really used.

A woman after my own heart. I too ensure I'm prepared for everything. It all fits nicely inside my equally large black bag (not nearly at all pricey as a Birkin). I read an article way back when I was in my early twenties quoting Linda saying she only buys quality because it lasts forever. I took and still take that to heart!! Great advice from my fave model!

Adore that this bag has such a long history - it's older than me ! & you can she she has loved and enjoyed this bag. It embodies the absolute essence of a luxury bag which is that is supposed to provide years of memories and usage.
