I'm 58 years old and my husband is 64 years old and we live in an RV right now. We were paying $730 a month on a lot. Just to park our rv. We had to pay water and electric separate. We ended up moving the RV to a storage place that lets us live there free while he does security at night. But we have no water! So I have to buy bottled water every couple of days just to brush my teeth give my dog's water and have water. Join planet fitness to take a shower. And I have to poo poo and pee in a bag and dispose of it daily. I'm so upset and trying to find an apartment the cheapest apartment I can find is over a thousand something dollars and they want you to make three and a half times that amount to live there. So I have knee issues need to give me operation my husband is on disability and has back and mental issues. I'm like is this all there is Left to Life is this where we end up at? What's a vacation? I don't want my life to be ended up like this. I am trying my best to figure out ways to hustle and to make more money even thought about making a RU-vid channel myself and tell him about the situation. But at the same time it's like they're really want all of my business out there

I lived for 14 years in a +55 mobile home community in Roy, Utah. The owner vowed to keep lot rent as low as possible. Then he died and his children took over the park. Lot rent started going up every year in absurd increments. My wife and I only had Social Security as income, and we both had to retire early due to health problems; so we started to struggle financially. We ended up moving to Kentucky and now share a 2-story house in the country with my sister. She charges us no rent and she pays all the utility bills. Thank God for her generosity.

I lived in apartment for 10 years... landlord died and his son took over... he began collecting rent in a Cadillac, then a Range Rover, then a Porsche... rent increased; His Dad (my original landlord) collected the rent in a beat up gray Ford pick up truck... I applied for a mortgage and was approved... never looked back... I'd rather go to prison than pay rent again... rent is financial prison... My comment is NOT just another bullsh!t comment for likes, its a true story... I paid $550 a month for rent for 10 YEARS (no increase) until the landlord died and his son took over... my original Landlord = WISEMAN - MICHAEL G ... google him... good man... "WISEMAN - MICHAEL G. / Buffalo NY"... GOOD MAN.

I've lived in one the last 15 years, the last 5 of which the new owners have been getting pretty aggressive with the rent raises. We started about $430 and now are at $780. With their average raises the last few years, we are set to be around $1,200 a month in the next 5 years. For lot rent. Crazy. We are hoping to buy a house from my wife's boss later this year, but can only do so if she lets it go for dirt cheap. Otherwise in the next decade our lot rent will be no different than actual rent. 🤞

I'm 67. My entire adult life I've known lot's of people who thought I was crazy to save for retirement. They said "Live for today". Lot's of partying, buying toys on credit. My ex wife was one and we divorced over it. She now lives in a trailer park in Phoenix while I own my home. Social media loves to show the result of a life of living beyond one's means. It seems sad and gets lot's of views. But it never shows how they got here. The weird thing is nothing changes. Most if you looked closely at their finances you'd see the same problem of continuing to spend a lot of fun things. But that's the great thing about being an American. You get to choose how you live. And maybe they have the right idea. Live for today.

What you are paying just for rent is enough for all your expenses in many different countries to live a decent life. $1500-2000/mo to live very nicely. South and Central America and SE Asia are popular. I'm planning to move to SE Asia next year.

If the wealthy paid their fair share, Social Security would not be at risk. But keep voting for the Republicans, especially those of you that need your Social Security. If they get back in the office, you won’t have Social Security in the future and if you have it now, it will be reduced. voting is important. Vote blue Joe Biden.

Starting under Reagan with the dismantling of unions and the start of tax breaks for the wealthy which drastically increased under trump. Under Biden, increase in unions mean pensions. Under Biden, largest COLA increase for SS. Under Biden, lowering of prescription costs. If trump is elected, he will privatize Medicare and reduce SSby 25%. Read Project 2025.

@waterbug1135
@waterbug1135 Месяц назад
No one is forcing anyone to pay it. What people seem to be confused about is landlords don't set rent prices, renters do. If I ask $500 and I get 20 people wanting it and a bunch offer $600 guess what rent I get? If I get no interest I have no choice but to lower my asking rent. Landlords have families to feed too. Retirements to save for. RV parks are a business. And living in a trailer renting a lot has been well known for decades to be one of worst deals for living. But a small percentage of people insist on doing it. They have the right to be as foolish as they want to be with their money.

@@waterbug1135, Thanks for responding. Desperation may cause people to pay more rent than is reasonable. These people are 55+ and likely on fixed incomes. Most of them can barely survive which I know is not our problem. I would tell any young person to at least contribute the 401K employer match for retirement to at least try to avoid this outcome. My employer had pension back in the late 1980's when I started, that became 401K in the 1990's. Thankfully someone warned me to at least do company match. That is mostly all I did. I have used my account for loans, and once took some out to eliminate credit card debt once and for all. I just turned 60 a couple of weeks ago, and that account now has about $760K in it. It is the younger generation that is blaming us baby boomers for all their future problems creating unnecessary paranoia. it is their responsibility to shape their future, just the way we did with ours. They are all older except for 1. None of them are retirees. They will work until SS. And so will my 63 year old mother. I'm having the hard conversation with myself that eventually I'm going to have to help my mother when she becomes a senior citizen because she constantly dips into her 401K for frivolous spending and won't and can't retire until she's 71. 😢

Larhonda, you need to have a hard conversation WITH MOM NOW. Dave Ramsey has several calls, just like your situation on his YT. It is not your responsibility to be burdened with her because of her poor money management. We can never get ahead because of this irresponsibility! This is unacceptable behavior and not okay. I may be wrong, but it sounds like she was a single parent who cared for you, so now she has the, “it’s your turn to care for her” -mentality. Please correct me if I’m wrong. If y’all get along and she is respectful, maybe her moving in with you would work for you both.🌻

I'm 67, retired at 45. Never had anywhere close to a million. How much you spend is much more important than how much you save. I spend so little you would never believe it. I spend less per month than many homeless people. I own my North Central house which has appreciated an average of $2000/mo the past 15 years. My SS check will be $3800/mo (today's dollars) at 70 when I take it. Next year I plan to sell my house and move to SE Asia with $530k cash throwing $2k/mo income so $5900/mo budget. In SE Asia a middle class person earns about $400-500/mo. Americans living there say $1000 is OK, $1500 is good, $2000 is great. "Same quality of life" never made any sense to me. Why would you want to maintain the same life? I'm always looking for a better quality of life. I moved to Phoenix from San Jose CA 18 years ago. No way did I want to maintain the same life I had in San Jose I had when working. I ate out often. Retired I had the time to cook and I love my cooking. Much healthier too. I have time for a 2 hour walk everyday which I love. I get to spend hours in my garden. And now I get to have a great new adventure in SE Asia. Easy flight to New Zealand for great Brown trout fishing. Tremendous dating in SE Asia for a single old man like me. In the US I'm invisible. I bought an acre of land and bought a 2003 brand new manufactured home 32x80 and my payments with escrow runs around an average of $425 per month. Hard to do back THEN but today is easy. I couldn’t imagine paying $40,000 for the home there and still have to pay $500 per month on top of the mortgage payment. Where I live now it seems all the parks that rent lots are bought by corporations and there is no on site managers. Trying to get in touch with anyone to find out what lot rent costs is like trying to get in touch with Elon Musk. It’s ridiculous. My sister in law was looking for a lot and we went through heck. The application PLUS she had to get her dog certified as an emotional support animal (that’s a scam in itself. Just pay a big fee and you get a certificate.).
