I bought this as my ski jacket and hiking jacket, I think it will work well

Nice jacket but they should make versions of these jackets without the helmet compatible hood. Only about 10% of buyers are wearing these jackets when using helmets. Most users are casual hikers and outdoors people that aren't using ropes and climbing gear.

Thank you Ben. Detailed and very helpful review especially as I have just found one at the price sweet spot I’m looking for after needing to replace my current old leaking RAB waterproof. Pit zips I find are easy to undo but just try doing up again when you’re moving along!

I'm looking for a montane Waterproof jacket to go over my down jacket . What would you recommend please ?

Which one you opt for will depend on which activities you plan to use it for, rather than the layers you have underneath. For example, an alpine climber will want different features and fabrics to that of a trail runner. If you can give us a rough idea of what activities you do, we can definitely recommend something.

Ben's pretty tall and the jacket is definitely long enough. In this particular jacket it can't be too long otherwise it'll impede your movement on technical routes.

@@trekitt fair point, I was thinking of work, jackets like kaiwaka, longer at the front even longer at the back so you can bend over and even sit on things. Made for people who have to work all day in rain
