Another superb video review. And I noticed at ~1:27 that you inserted text stating the jacket's weight. Don't know if that was based on a previous comment ;-) or if you just decided to put it there on your own. Either way it is very useful and appreciated. I love learning about new technologies, including the ME Firestorm you pointed out. Thanks, Trekitt, for your informative and even entertaining videos. Happy, healthy, and prosperous new year - may it be a bit better than its predecessor.
From the States, the hat does not go with the video, but by all means keep wearing it. We all have our favorite pieces of clothing that we wear no matter what. And, by the way, you and your staff are excellent presenters.
@@trekitt just to show what good presenters you are, I just spent nearly twenty minutes listing to you talk about a coat. I used to work in a clothing store, and I could explain a shirt in detail, but I was never that good.
I tried the xeros and tested in 28 degree weather noticed an immediate cold spot in upper and lower back area. Seems like its lacking down in those key areas. Will be returning for the kryos
Hi Paul I think if you like the hat then you should keep wearing it, as it is part of your personality and I think that is what makes you interesting to watch. So you keep being you and do what you feel is querky for the videos. 😊👍🏻
I’ve tested this one out! Its really nice but has some small issues. It doesn’t fit snug around my torso so there is a fair bit of dead space for cold air to get in. Maybe better for a fatter person. And my other issue with it is if you wear it when you drive all the down moves to the sides in the back. But that’s with most down jackets I guess. I will only wear it when it’s over 30 degrees Fahrenheit cause it’s really not that warm of a jacket.
Another solid product run through guys. It’s obvious the care & thought that ME has taken in the Xeros’ design & manufacture. Have to admit. Would prefer this jacket in the brighter/more visible bright Blue colour of the lining & that ME had used a more durable (30D-plus)GTX Infinium face fabric. How does it compare with ME’s Kryos jackets for warmth?
not that I want to rub in, but Canada goose are pretty good also Paul, we do have really cold winter I can tell you, don't know if your jacket would be warm enough for us in Canada...never saw any one of my mates wearing the brand name here, we usually have OR, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, Eddie Bauer, and of course are well known Canada Goose jackets, but not your brand name. Love your videos you are a funny guy, sarcastic but in a nice way, cheers!
I wore an early sample of the Mountain Equipment Kryos jacket in Algonquin in January this year. It was almost too warm when snowshoeing and skating at minus 15 Celsius! I’m a big fan of Canada and have a good friend who lives there. Paul.
While possibly an apple vs an orange question, it appears that the Atom AR and the Xeros get to very nearly the same spot for having traveled different paths to get there. Am I correct? Price notwithstanding, how would you sort out the decision to buy one over the other?
The Xeros is quite a bit more weather resistant and will pack down smaller thanks to the down insulation. It's a more technical product and one that I probably wouldn't wear for everyday use or just light countryside walking, for example. The Atom is the less technical of the two but feels much more supple and 'normal', so it could easily be used for everyday/light outdoor use as well as some mountaineering; albeit the latter not quite as well as the Xeros. Hope that helps. Harry
The Xeros has less down and fewer of the clever baffles, so basically it's less warm and more suited to less extreme climates. Thanks for watching. Paul.
you look fine Paul, don"t listen to them they are all envious of your good looks and joie de vivre! lol I am from Canada we are born with tuques, hats, beanie...so wear it and be proud!
Thank you for these reviews, it's great to get an idea about the new kit (& certainly heightens your shops profile). Have you used this jacket on the hill in the last few days? If so any info re temperatures and how it performed when you were walking in would be helpful. I've subscribed, I've commented... :-)
I'm afraid this isn't Paul's personal jacket, so neither of us have used it in the hills since this video. Sorry I can't provide a more detailed answer, but thank you for subscribing/commenting! Regards, Harry.
Thanks Keith, warmth is always my priority! You’ll have to wait a while for the “sale”, but keep eye on our social media etc. for notifications. HNY Paul.
