I have been loading and casting for 50 years. My shop is full of Lee equipment. Great stuff. Price is right. People get into trouble when they don't read directions or pay attention. You must be vigilant and if something isn't working properly ask yourself why. Don't force it. People equate high price with quality this isn't the case with Lee. Best advice. If it don't feel right, look right, sound right, smell right, taste right, it probably isn't right. Use your senses and think through issues. Great video.

Very great video buddy and extremely informative. I just wanted to add on to what you were saying about their value when it comes to the new value turret press I have seen places where it comes in a kit just like the breech lock Challenger press and the original turret press. I am extremely happy with my Lee kit.

Thx. I like the way you demonstrated how each press works, both auto vs manual. This will be my 3rd Lee so you've given me something to think about. One problem. Lee says the Classic Turret has more room than the Value turret allowing for rifle cartridges. Our Classic Turret Press also has the auto index feature, and is capable of loading cartridges with auto index engaged with an overall length of 3.063" or less. Deactivate the auto-index, and cases over 4 inches can be loaded.

Just a note I purchased a LEE Classic Loader for 303 British about 6 months ago. And I had a problem with a couple of primers that discharged whilst seating, on closer inspection the primer seater had a small nipple that left an indent on the primer when seating. I sent an email of to LEE USA with pictures got an reply next morning saying that a new seater was in the mail,no question asked at all. 5 days latter sure enough I get the new part. I live in Australia and this to me is just great backup service. I have heard about LEE's service and this is just great. After loading several thousand by hand it's time to upgrade and guess what it's going to be a LEE product without doubt. Thanks for the reviews, now to chose which one?

I found the adjustable charge bar for the auto disc to be VERY inconsistent with flake powders on my Loadmaster. Half a grain either way with 380 or 9mm can be dangerous. However on the turret press it bounces around the stations and fills the cavity flawlessly every time. On progressive presses I'll stick with the discs.

Great video! I’d love to hear your thoughts on Lee’s powder drops! I’ve had crap luck reloading with a1680 and clk-blk. I am waiting on a auto disk pro for my 300bo plinking round. I bought my auto Breech after your first review and love it so far. Thanks for all your help ! :)
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
Jeff Huntley, If you get the adjustable charge bar for the Auto Disk. The adjustable charge bar really fine tunes to .2gr increments per hash. That measure is perfect for fine ball powders like CFE BLK/ H110 ect. Grab some brass knurled screws like the one on the upgrade kit at ur local store. Crank down on it and this measure wont leak at all. I set the charging die so that the bar will slide and stop about 1/8 before the front. I use the Lee auto drum strictly for extruded powder as it does a great job from not cutting the grains. I like the chain system for the auto disk for the safety fact of not being able to double charge

Thanks for putting this up brother! I was afraid I was going to have to do a review and you do much better 😁 I love the value turret. I went from the RCBS Rockchucker to a Lyman turret to the Lee turret and man I wish I’d have gotten it first. Not fooling with the die changes is so nice. If I’m doing 38 semi wad cutters and want to do 357 or 44 mag, change the turret and go. Only thing I mess with is the auto drum since I only have one. My only 2 complaints about it are 1, it can be a pain cleaning out a clog in the ram from the old primers( an old wire coat hanger works fine) and 2, In-line fab doesn’t make a reverse rotation case kicker for it😁.

Great Review! However, Lee Precision offers a two year warranty and thereafter a refurb price of 50% of MSRP. That said. For routine parts they've been taking care of customers routinely by shipping manhy of their replacement parts for only the cost of shipping even after the expiration of their stated warranty. You are also quite right about their customer service. It is excellent.

@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
Brandon Lau, Yes I can. Ill see if I can get to that soon. They put these upgrades aswell on that model for this year. One thing hindering is the fact its only 3 stations. So a factory crimp die is outta the equation
@MonkeySlapper64
@MonkeySlapper64 6 лет назад
Eagle Eye Shooting I have a pro 1000 set up for .223 and am considering the new breech. Trying to decide which to use for some .45 acp. Also want the new turret for my .308 for the AR-10. What are your thought?
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
Brandon Lau, I use my Breech Lock Pro mostly for 300AAC. I think this press will work fantastic for 223. I leave station 3 open so I can look down the case for a visual powder check and also convenience of setting a bullet on the case. Both the Pro1000 and Breech Lock Pro have a pretty stiff indexing spring behind the detent ball so loading pistol cases or cases with near 100% capacity it will pop some powder out once index. I did a mod to both reducing spring pressure. One thing about the pro 1000 is it's alot of tinkering. You can get the primer system to work as long as its clear of debris. I made a little primer pusher to help assist. And clocking the shell plate sometimes gets out of adjustment. The Breechlock pro is a huge upgrade to the shellplate alignment as it uses a pin to center it. And honestly the primer arm system is just a more positive feel knowing you have set a primer even though it requires one more step. Ill try to get a video to compare both.
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
As for precision reload's it certainly can be done using this press. Infact i think you can progressive the 308 as it has lots of room. But I prefer the turret press in conjunction with the Lee Universal Expanding die and NOE expander plug. It centers the boolit perfectly and can set neck tension. With the turret press I feel u can be more intimate with your loads and all the fine details

Hello, thank you for the awesome video. I am so new to reloading, I am leaning towards the breech progressive press because I can make more in a limited time to serve my USPSA and Steel Challenge demand. Now, reading the reviews, I noticed many negative reviews on the drum auto powder dispenser, any thought on that please? Did you encounter this problem? Also other reviews on Lee Dies that they aren’t as good and better purchase Redding Dies, what are tour thoughts in that too please? I love that $250 would get me into reloading 9mm! However if I will buy it with Redding Dies and powered dispenser, then I would rather buy a Dillon 550c! Thanks
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 4 года назад
Ive loaded many precision rifle rounds for ELR 1 mile+ using Lee dies. The collet die is my recommendation. As for the autodrum, if using fine ball powder the auto drum will leak on you (regardless of what folks suggest as a fix) I have 5 of them and all leak with ball powder. I use the Lyman Brass smith that is mounted above my press with a braket made by TreeTopFlier. Its easy to make. 7/8 nut welded on square tubing. The priming system on the breech lock pro is the best Lee makes, however its still finicky. If you want a painless smooth setup and are loading volume (1k or more on average) I suggest the Dillion 750. For case processing, look into the new Lee App press. Lee presses are well suited for those who don't mind small amounts of tinkering and self ingenuity
@jeffenglishsetter8339
@jeffenglishsetter8339 4 года назад
@@EagleEyeShooting You mentioned the Lyman Brass Smith...I run a Lyman 55...does the brass smith use the same 7/8" x 14 thread adapter to fit into the lee pass through die? I want to use this as its the most accurate and consistent powder drop I have ever used. Lee kit drops are ok, but I'm either leaking H110 or cutting 4064...if so how is that configured into the lee die?

I am not familiar with the Breech Lock bushings. There is a marginal increase with the ones that have a set screw over those that do not. I am guessing they are worth it ? I figure the die is locked down by the die nut so I do not fully understand.
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
LIVIN CINCY, Ya some dies such as the bullet seater you'll remove the ring and strickly use the lock ring eliminator. I really like it as you wont loose adjustment for dies as mentioned

@EagleEyeShooting

Long action cartridges like the ot six won't index without catching. Manually indexing takes advantage of a single stage turret press style for precision rifle cartridges
@charredskeleton
@charredskeleton 6 лет назад
$50 more on the turret and bascally the same price on the breech lock pro gets us a lee 1000 progresive. For us straight wall reloaders I think the 1000 can only really be beat in price by the lee classic loader.
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
Hmmm well let's see, Station 1 Decap resize, #2 Flare and Powder Drop, #3 Bullet seat.... O crap no more stations for a factory crimp die... Lol having only 3 stages is a huge downfall. Yes you can prime and prep your cases first on the press but then your resetting up your dies twice... Ya the bullet seating dies have a built in roll crimp but they're not good for cast lead or plated bullets. The FCD is far superior. If the Lee pro 1000 was at least a 4 stage operation yes that would be a better choice.. O and dont forget the un reliable priming system of that press. The newer 2018 model I can't speak the same about the priming as I haven't had experience with that press yet. Too each there own I guess😉

The Auto drum measure is being used by a lot of the big name press owners. RCBS, Hornady, last but not least Dillion. I can tell you from experience you have to purchase those plastic rotors . Some are bad ,some are good...a minor glitch, once you discover the ones that don’t leak there unbeatable. Rhodes6858 check my youtube Lee loading videos. @EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 6 лет назад
Tyler Imp, The rock chucker is a fabulous press with a solid feel. The only annoyance you'll find is removing and setting up dies per stage which can really increase time. IMO id have 1 setup just for resizing. If looking for a robust press with more than one stage. The Lee Value Turret will hold up pretty good bolt it down solid or get the Inline Fab base for it. Id use Unique Case Lube for lubing cases. Itll save you and the press lol. If you have the funds Id look into the Lyman All American 8 Turret

A word of advice and caution to the author of this video and anyone who reloads. I WOULD NOT reload near any source of ignition or flame source! In this video a natural gas water heater is within inches of a reloading tray that may or may not have gun powder in it and at the very least, powder charges are thrown in the press which IMO is way to close to an ignition source. In this case it is a pilot light within the water heater. The vibratory tumbler appears to be actually in contact with the gas line. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Josue Guzman, I wish they came out with something new for this press. Honestly out of all of the priming systems offered by lee. This one works the best for me. The others have to much tinkering imo

@@EagleEyeShooting I prefer to resize and deprime first then check and trim for case length, Prime with the bench prime then proceed.
