That is awesome that we get to see the “behind the curtain” of your life. It is important to see this since so many vloggers are not showing their lifestyle. That $80 a month is a great deal and the best part is that by having a smaller place, you only have room for a practical life….with nothing you don’t need.
@@MrSteven5975 I remember your old video's with GF and her daughter when you had to divide the bedroom into separate living spaces. Nice to see with your new GF you have a decent living space now.
Thanks for being TRANSPARENT and showing your place. Contentment and having a simple, peaceful, quiet life is "PRICELESS" Stay healthy and GOD bless 🫡🇺🇸🇵🇭❤️
Amazing living space for $80 a month. We put in a 1 hp air conditioner in our living room 2 years ago, but your right it runs 100 percent of the time. I just told my wife to go over to the store and have them put in a 2 hp this week an early Christmas present to us.
Thanks! I loved it! I'm coming to the Philippines in June for a 23 day vacation and your blog has helped me so much to know what to expect..... I plan to retire someday..... but who knows when. Your way of being real in what you say is great! Keep up the great work.
Nice place. I like the way it’s decorated. Hard to believe it’s 80 a month amazing Get the Wagner card checked out as you probably know it’s the most valuable baseball card out there You never know
Watched entire video .. thanks for sharing. My wife and I built a mini home back in 2019, prior to the Covid Lockout in Guimaras (island next to Iloilo) that is a pretty much the same size, if not smaller. I'm still in the California, but we'll be there by November this year. I've been pretty nervous about living longer than a vacation stay. I look forward going though your massive catalog of videos ... over 1,400 ... incredible. Can't promise to watch them all obviously, but I'll pick through them surely.
I'm from Iloilo and I'm moving there next month after working for 35 years here in NYC. Guimaras is beautiful and only 20-30 mins ferry ride from Iloilo. A nice place to spend a weekend if you're tired of city life in Iloilo. I'm excited to the next chapter of my life in the Philippines.
Love your ‘minimalist lifestyle’( as am I )!!! It’s not the high cost of living but the cost of living high. Living the dream in the Tropics ‘on a dime’! Go Navy!
Perfect size and perfect price! We all got our stuff. Watch George carlins skit about stuff. His daughter said when he died. He had three store rooms full of stuff. I am a hoarder, so I love my stuff. Thanks for the tour and I really did like it.
Thanks for showing us around. Been following for quite a while and you have probably the most informative channels out there with realistic advice on avoiding missteps. I love the old Indian, Texaco etc... signs on the wall. If God willing, we ever get our house built, I'd like to have a little office with walls dedicated to nostalgic signs like that
I agree with the 2.0 hp air con. My fiancée lives in LILoan which is northeast of Cebu and didn’t have an air con downstairs. There are a lot of LG products and the choice was 1.5 hp or 2.0 hp. We decided the 1.5 hp would be running all the time and would wear out the motor and compressor more quickly. The decision was based on what my supervisor told me a long time ago : “Don’t send a boy to do a man’s job”.😂
It appears to me to me you have used all the space very wisely, I think it looks great and at $80 US a month, a bargain and I do know the area also from my travels, great video, thankyou.
Nice video.lighr grey is ofen 9verlooked as a comforting color, but is recommended as comparable sand colors and blues The Cabana is awesome..like that you have your dada honorable discharge * miss my dad,he did jungle training with the Phil Marines in Subic,8n 86.He was jumping out of Huey's and C130s at Ft.Devens ,where I went to college nearby..That shade of blue is popular in the Phil's That apartment would cost 1809 min 8n Boston.Keep up the great work,1400,and all informative helpful and entertaining.God Bless. 🙏👍
You can be very surprised how much space you can have with the proper storage solutions. It's not just floor space but wall space from floor to ceiling that can increase your capacity in a small space. A few tall shallow cabinets can be used as pantries with heavier items down low and dry goods up on higher shelves. A folding step stool is perfect for so many situations and can be put out on the back patio in a corner somewhere. I've seen some wild colors in the philippines for interior and exterior paint and it's true that some colors can be very calming and easy on the eyes. They did a study in prisons and found that yellow seems to create a calm environment.
I just recently saved that Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth picture around a few months ago from a Facebook page. They were on tour during that time in the northern part of the east coast in 1979 from what I remember reading on the post's title. Classic pic. 👍🏼
Nice setup! Looks perfectly organised and easy to keep clean... Goes to show you what is possible in a limited space...Everything is there... Plus the outside areas provide a lot of additional living area... Why not take advantage of the environment you're in, it makes a lot of sense and does away with any cramped feeling some might have... I am a fan of minimalism and this is a nice mix of that plus many comforts... Thanks for the tour and have a super day! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
If your retired then why you wasting all your time making videos and editing instead of enjoying your retirement doesn't sound good to me i'm actually enjoying mine in negros got lotta land i. Mountains house for wife and i and travel when we desire
wow Steven thanks for sharing your nice/cozy/cute rental for $80???? wow hard to believe you only pay $80, that's a super super bargain! your place is very neat & outside too seems refreshing with all the plants/trees around your place! good for you my friend! btw the painting by number you could've fooled me it looks real, love that painting i think it's called Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer!
I’ll be shopping for a place to live, when I get there. Since I’m now officially retired, as of yesterday, my initial trip (12/30-01/24) can be extended for an extra 30+ days, and I might as well find a place for my (soon-to-be) Wife and step-Daughter and I to live. And then I’ll know where we’ll be living when I permanently move there in June. We’re not looking for a huge place, but hopefully more than so many of the 50 sqm places we’ve found. If you’re in that space for P4500/month, that leaves a lot of hope of finding a 2 bedroom for P20K, or less? Thanks for the tour, Steve 👍 God bless🙏
Respectfully suggest: A) Don't OVERPLAN your life. B) Don't OVER commit to the details of your life . . . Before you get some time "on the ground." Best of luck !
Steve, I really appreciate you showing your setup, I like the complex you live in. I need exactly the same thing. How can I meet up with you when I visit?
I like the blue color. I don’t like white too plain and neither dark colors. I love the pastel. My it’s pastel lavander. And yes the color of your room make an impact in how you see things around.
This is not bad at all for $80/mo., especially if you are doing a lot of traveling and exploring outdoors. Is it so cheap because its in an area with few foreigners? Maybe I should broaden my search a bit.
I gather that being part of the silent service, thank you for said service by the way, you do not lament the lack of windows in your TV/kitchen...but it would drive me bat-shit-crazy! 🤪
Hello, those East Coast accents I’m from the Midwest we have a ridiculous accent and we don’t even realize . You said when you open the refrigerator that you have a “Coca-cōler” in there. It’s funny down south it would be a cold drink here we’d say a pop. I’ve never heard of Coca-Cola called that before. 👍 Great call on the air conditioner !!! My brother-in-law was the AC and heating guy up in the Midwest. He always said keep the air condition on and keep everything cool don’t shut it off keep it running and get a bigger unit than what you need so it doesn’t work so hard. It will be cheaper in the long run, then turning it off and then cooling everything in the house over and over and over just leave it at one set temperature. Let it fluctuate a couple degrees during the day so if you don’t need it so cold during the day just bump the temp up a little bit not much just a little bit couple degrees. Then things will cool down in the evening way quicker. Those type of units are the way to go instead of the window units. 👍 The neck, air conditioner in the ionizers or something new to me thanks for telling us about them. And I have a pair of bone conducting headphones. I’ve had them for about six months now they’re amazing they take a little getting used to at first my ears would take a little bit with the base. I wear them at work all the time I could answer phone calls with zero disturbance background noise to the person I’m talking to. The pair I bought goes on sale once in a while during holidays down to $124 from time to time I paid 145 and then about a month later they went on sale for 124. They start out at about 199. they’re absolutely amazing. I wore them the other day during a laser back pain laying on the table listening to the headphones for 45 minutes took the board out of laying there. And you can still hear your surroundings just as long as you don’t crank them up too loud. And they really don’t get too loud. They’re just nice! The brand I have are called shockz I think that’s how they spell it. I got the model called pro run. They come in different colors. I just bought the black I can’t say enough about them one of the best things I own.
Beautiful neat home. I'm currently in a 24 square meter condo in Mandalyoung. Only been here 2 months so I'm cozying mine up as well. I wanted tiny because I like my aircon and I don't want to be cooling unused space. Something for everyone here, get what you like, fix it up and enjoy
Is the air that bad Steve where you are or do you have allergies? Is that why you have the devices that ionize air? I think your home is amazing and particularly for the low rent! Thanks for the tour.
I have watched your videos through the years. I wonder if at this point you’re rewinding some of the past. The small space reminds me of my small locker abo and old class LST. It seems to me you have found Home, but yet I’m missing something. I wish you well, and good health.
That's a nice cozy place for 1 expat but when your gf moves in with her stuff it's going to be tight. Nice to have the cabana for an outdoor spot but I didn't see the outdoor kitchen. It's funny to see the expats living in GBC the "bubble" or other enclaves where they won't make any adjustments in a foreign country.
Just emphasises, we need very little to make us happy! I'm not so sure about most Americans though, so materialistic and they live well beyond their means! I'd be happy there, a nice retirement home living on £1000 pcm 👍 Check out his channel - A British expat living in the philipenes, nice old boy and not far from you.
Any country around the world that's an extremely low price for hotel. Although if you want to spend nights in Makati a western style place is $200 to $300 a night for starters
3-4 Yrs AGO , I STAYED At a CRAPPY ( RUN DOWN ) Ramada Inn { In JAX FL ) And It Was OVER $130 a NITE :(( IN MANY NAT. PARKS They ARE CHARGING $40-50 ( PLUS !) Per NITE !!!!!
Thanks for sgowing us around Steve. The cabana would be essential for me to relax in. The house is a bit cramped, dark for me. But hey, for the price, is a knockout.
Hey Steve, wow thanks for the personal share and just a simple life you have and great deal for $80 a month. Being a long time Van Halen fan love the that pic and the old fashioned McDonalds behind Eddie and David Lee. Also your fathers Honorable Discharge certificate, thanks for his service. Stay safe and Happy Holidays brother!
Thanks for the tour. We had a smaller apartment the last place we lived and we both liked it so much. But we moved to a larger more expensive apartment now and we both think it is too big. One empty room and not much reason to really use it. A smaller place, with space efficiently used gives a more homey feeling I think.
I about flipped when I saw the Van Halen photo on your wall. Located in Crestwood Missouri, a St Louis suburb, that was the first McDonalds in the metro area, and the 71st nationwide. The band was giving an interview just up the street at KSHE 95, one of the first progressive rock stations in the country.
New girlfriend, but isn't this the same apartment that you have shown us in past videos ? Other than saving up money, I still don't see why a 2,500 hundred monthly budget is required to live this simple lifestyle.
I know you brothers don't think so, or the rest of the Fleet, "but if you ain't tin cans, you aint _ _ _ t" Just saying. That's a heck of an apartment for $80/Mo. I don't even think that a homeless guy outside of Grand Central can get a refrigerator box for $80!. Thanks for sharing and showing the reality.
@@highclassbum2538 Maybe in an upper class yuppie area, even then that's not realistic...I have friends that I grew up with there and they tell me the same as the show says.
Completely possible depending on location, supply and demand, size, condition, etc. Sometimes a landlord just wants a reliable tenant that will keep up the place or take it as is without complaints.
That place is much too small for me but for certain people could probably tolerate it Filipino style. Not a place a younger guy would take a girl home from a date but for a retiree who wants to be secluded and minimal then it could work. Air conditioning and good toilet system along with proper infrastructure to keep snakes and bugs out is a must. You get what you pay for.
@@patrickmunneke8348 Because guys with a little PP think they need a big house, otherwise the girl will never see anything larger than a stubby pencil.
@@KevinVenturePhilippines nah I am 6'4 and 34 y/o and I would feel in a shoebox size there. No matter where you are in world these places under $100 a month are pretty much you get what you pay for. Even in Hong Kong they have these places I stayed in for one night and I was done after. A lot of these places are poorly built, not much security from insects and things like snakes. Maybe a single older person who's limited funds looking for a bed can tolerate but definitely not the general population. With more than one person way too small.
Nicely done--I like your place and it looks efficient to live there. What is the square meter area? and how long is your lease for to get that great price?
@@MrSteven5975 wow, no lease with that price! I also really like that "cabana" thing outside--looks great to sit in and relax or with talking with friends or neighbors. That furniture guy does amazing work!
