With the exception of the odd couple of episodes I think that inside no.9 is best when at its darkest (Although my inner child loves the slapstick comedy and silliness of a quiet night in)

I think the idea with this is that we still aren't sure whether Migg was real or not, but Tom's mental breakdown has led him to actually kill someone who he believed was Migg, but it wasn't. I think it's possible he befriended someone at some point but the conversations with the man he killed (probably someone from the gas/electricity board or something, threatening to cut his supply off completely due to unpaid bills, etc.) for example are likely to have been only shown from the perspective of what Tom was hearing and seeing. What was actually being said was probably something different. Pemberton and Shearsmith tend to mess with our heads a lot but it's brilliant!!

I don't think it's the first series, might be the 2nd but you have to review 12 days of christine! In fact the 2nd series is better than the first overall

The best episode is in Series 4 in my opinion

yeah I have suggested the same thing about episode 2 of season 2. In fact I would love reviews for all of season 2,

If you're not going to review seasons 2 and beyond, it would be great if you could at least gives us your thoughts on episode 2 of season 2. It's a genuine masterpiece imo and easily the best episode of British Television I have seen.

Was Migg Tom’s social worker, or was he really a homeless person who took advantage of Tom? If it is the former it doesn’t make sense; if it is the latter the story fits together better. However, why didn’t Steve see Migg on the couch?

Inside No 9 is one of my favourite modern TV shows. Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are one of the best writing/acting duos in Britain right now.

Oh wow. Speaking as an English guy who adores Inside No. 9 I do wish you’d stop skirting around your feeling “nervous” or finding aspects “problematic” when dealing with political correctness issues. Stop trying to find offence.

Stop watching his stuff then. It's a totally valid criticism of a show if it trivialises or simplifies real life issues. I don't personally think it does too much, but some people do and that's fair enough.
@jedisalsohere
@jedisalsohere 4 года назад
@@tomkenning5482 Yeah, exactly. It's a perfectly fine criticism provided the reviewer genuinely sees it as a flaw. I'm English as well, and I don't see any problem with taking issues with misrepresentation of social issues in film and TV - hell, if anyone should know, it's him.

At the end of the day everyone has different opinions of stuff. I love a quiet night in and it doesn't matter if you don't, there no reason why you wouldn't like other episodes either. Similarly I really enjoy Black Mirror yet I didn't enjoy San Junipero even though most people regard it as one of the best episodes

So glad to find someone who shares the same opinion. I absolutely love Black Mirror but really couldn't get on board with San Junipero.

I’m real surprised by how much you disliked A Quiet Night In but I get why, glad you liked this one better tho as it is a really interesting and varied show, it bounces around all over the place.

I'm only just starting to watch this show now, and I've just finished this episode. In fact, I found this video because I was so profoundly confused by Tom And Gerri. The way it just kinda went back and forth on what was real and what wasn't left me so baffled, and I still don't entirely think I understand what elements were real and which were figments of Tom's mental health.

I loved this episode. I have serious problems with the stereotype of mental illness, especially involving psychosis, making people violent (it doesn't, they're less likely than average to harm someone other than themselves) but I did still enjoy it.

I love your channel! Thus far, I have not fallen victim to RU-vid limiting notifications. The notification for this channel comes in every morning for me. All of that aside, I hope you are enjoying Inside No. 9. The reason for the one location is the idea behind Inside No. 9 is the location (be it an apartment or a house or even cubicle number 9) and all action takes place within the location. I do not know why they chose 9 as the number of the location to use. Thank you for putting out so much good content.

Glad you liked this one more :) the next episode is my least favourite from season 1 but still has some good moments. It's more of an outright comedy but with a bleak storyline.

I had a somewhat different reaction. I saw the twist about Migg being imaginary coming a mile off (the way he kept conveniently disappearing whenever another character turned up was kind of a giveaway), but I thought they'd save it for an end of episode reveal so when they pulled that twist half way through I remember thinking to myself "please don't let the final twist be that he's actually real", not only because that means it reverts back to the tired old trope of a homeless person taking advantage of someone's good will and taking all they have (which I'm sure rarely actually happens) but also because I personally quite liked the idea that he made the homeless guy up as a scapegoat for his failures. The part about Gerri being imaginary was a welcome surprise, but then the final twist felt like a regression of everything I felt they built up to that point and I hated it.
@eleventwelve2650
@eleventwelve2650 5 лет назад
I feel the same except for the part that I never thought Migg is fake simply because he was depicted as cunning and he does things even when he's alone. Gerri on the other hand, by the end I saw red alerts all over, her demeanor seem more fake than the rest of the episode then how she changes so many things all at once. The twist I never saw was Migg dead.

Just a heads up for the next episode: At the start it may seem like the ending is going to be absolutely horrific and traumatising, especially from what you've said in the past, however it is probably the 'cool down' episode of the series

Great review, thank you! Maybe the episode relating well to real-life abusive situations helps the twists not feel tired. I know I have a lot more respect for things I feel I've seen before if the overall story feels very "real" in that sense.
