I ordered an External charger at Amazon and i received a deck of Pokemon cards. well... kind of understand the stress these workers go through. Heh. It was a good laugh.
yeah most people who don't realize how it works don't understand why that happens. But they don't actually get told "USB Cable" they are told "A15 location 0159. When they scan that it says "Pick 2" they pick 2, enter the amount picked and scan the bin, then it'll say the next location etc, Well at least that's how warehouses like the one in the video works.Nowadays new warehouses exist where you mostly stand in one place.
I work in packing. I often fuck up and forget to put the messages in the right box. So if you see "Hope you enjoy the stuffed monkey ,from uncle bill " sorry
When I was a kid medical help was the only thing you "needed" really fast. There were no stores open really late except for Farm Stores, no 24hr news or channels. People actually SLEPT at night. Such extremely high regard shown for "the customer" and such low regard for the warehouse employee which can very well also be the customer. We're reaching new highs of hypocrisy and greed for superficial reasons rather than focusing on helping the important problems of the world. Amazon's success is a reflection of what we hold most important.
+Joshua Hannah - It really isn't because he's right there, some managers just get anxiety and get OCD, I've been a manager in different roles for a long time now and my approach is always relaxed, flexible and decisive, meaning if I make a decision there is no question and answer session, u don't need to lose ur shit over nothing though.
All warehouse jobs will.break your spirit. Only reason alot of people put up with it. Because it's all they know and some companies pay good and have good benefits
@@ffff4958 theres alot of places that have programs for you to get back into school. If not you better choose a good company if you're gonna be doing manual labor like that
The scanner times the pickers though, expecting each picker to pull at least 2.2 items per minute in their 10 hour shift, even if the next item they need to pull is on the other end of the warehouse from where they presently are.
And you ruined it for me.. I was just thinking about applying here because it looks easy. I have been a grocery picker at schnucks Warehouse and it's so much more work than I see going on here. Lol. At schnucks you had to stay above 100% something like 1,200 cases a night.
I have no problem making rate as a picker, even if I have to go from one end of the mod to another, but AFE is a nightmare for me. Edit: I'm a 36yr old female with health issues.
I'm in as a second place of work. "Packer - Batch", whatever that means. Can't sleep as I have an orientation tomorrow, and I'm nervous as hell, thinking it's going to be so hectic. Watching a bunch of these videos aren't helping either.
Amazon will pack anything the same speed, the difference is when the order is released to get packed. Amazon prime orders get released to the system immediately, you even get email confirmation instantly, and you get it in 2 days; where non- prime orders are electronically held up, or those orders would arrive just as quick. It takes me 10 days to get the same order that I used to get 2 days when I was prime, the only difference is non- prime is flagged and purposely not released to packing. So in essence, we are paying Amazon to be Prime members so they don't hold our orders back, as everything is under the same roof that is amazon fulfilled. Would be like going to Walmart paying for your groceries, but they don't let you have them for 10 days. It's BS!
This is idiotic. They're not holding your stuff back they're prioritizing. Of course people who paid extra for prime would be prioritized. If you go to Walmart you get to walk out with your groceries because you're doing the footwork and paying the gas
I don't know what it's really like to work at one of these places, but I think it would be pretty cool. In fact, I think is want to try a place like this out for myself one day. I think that when you see what item is being shipped where is really fascinating. You never really know what people are buying over the internet until you're face to face with it, lol.
***** sounds like most manual labor jobs. beats the coalmines aye? anyway, i know how it feels. I once had a agency job emptying out entire trailer-loads manually restacking and wrapping all day. each box 20 pounds or more : ) luckily only for a few days before finding better pastures.
That still sounds like the job I'd want to try. I'm not too keen on dealing with customers, or having to tell people what to do and when to do it. Since my last comment, I finally turned old enough to start working small jobs, (I'm 16, almost 17), and I got hooked up with a job at my local grocery store as a cashier and part-time shelf stocker. Let me tell ya, it's just as bad as people say it is. Dealing with customers just gets to you sometimes because there's always people who think the world revolves around them. I think a nice job just dealing with shipping and packaging would really take stress off of my back and help me to adjust to manual labor.
Amazon when worker is overworking themselves: Kalm Amazon when worker is wearing ear plugs: Kalm Amazon when worker is listening with one earbud: SAFETY VIOLATION!!!1!
3:29 "We've hired over 15,000 extra workers..." CNN, 10 years later, video description still says "1,500 extra workers" Good job; you're a high-quality news reporting company. Not funded under the table or anything like that to gain popularity..
this is the old process of packaging orders. This process was way fucked up. Now they have rotating shelves where workers pick from small bins inside those selves or where works stock items inside each small bin inside a rotating shelf that moves around the warehouse. A worker basically calls each shelf by using a computer than the shelf goes back into its original place or new destination. The shelves are behind a storage case. In honestly amazon has no robots except those rotating selves that move around and the robot is the worker who is suppose to make no more than 3 errors per month or else they get fired.
@iamsupercan Not all of they're warehouses are the same, my place is way different. We usually pick and pack. It's pretty cool to see what other places are like.
It's actually not bad. I work at one of the new FCs in texas. It all depends on your management team. Both my managers work with us in the process. I haven't had any trouble here and it's been a year. People that say it's a horrible place probably talk about Peak, when the workflow ramps up a lot, then yes, It get difficult. The pace has to ramp up and we get stressed. That's usually when people that don't handle high stress situations well, leave.
Area managers are changed so often that some don't even know how to do the job in the area that they are managing, Yet they have the audacity to chastise their workers for not being efficient enough, especially when the workers have no control of the amount of work that is available in order for them to make their quotas.
LOL I work at Fullfillment center at California and Sort Center is so easy haha but haven't got to peak season but almost getting to it tho! That's inboud you're watching
illy Est I started in Inbound last year before peak it was a cake walk. I moved up to a trainer position and it's gotten easier physically, but i still run around like i''m crazy.
Honestly I would mind if prices were perhaps $1 more expensive so people there could get better wages, but those greedy fuckers at amazon would use that extra money to buy the top dogs boats.
Im in the ICQA department... the packing is difficult I hear, and youll want to just sit down and take a nap... its really nothing to fear tho... just stick it out
Robots. OK. Well, hopefully you won't depend on the income that these thousands and thousands of people per center depend on. And Amazon pays very very well. Don't believe everything you hear. Remember, Amazon FC's are not warehouses, they are shippers of individual orders to a customer, one book and a cd, a stuffed animal and a WII, Somebody still has to pull that and put these individual items away. They've been around a long long time and very successful. Clearly they are doing something right. I suppose you're just young and don't know how bad the employment is right now, despite any numbers, many people just gave up. Hopefully that won't be a problem for you. I work there, I'm grateful for it, it's a solid good job, good pay, and they expect your best. Isn't that the American system of work and compensation? And it's not un organized, it's disorganized. From a person who has a BS. thanks for your thoughts though. I'd never suppress any comments, but will counter them when I feel they are off base. Take care.
Abe at the time that was a very high technology place. Shows how little you now. Now they do have the more automated warehouses where pickers literally get the bins needed in front of them.
Hey which position involves the least amount of overhead movements or lifting heavy shit (>50 lbs)? I am considering working for Amazon but I have shoulder issues so the things mentioned above could be really uncomfortable to deal with for long shifts. I don't being on the feet, or walking but if it mostly organizing small shit or what?
The place i work at nows pick rate is 200 an hour and its heavy stuff cases of chicken juices grocery supplies so the 110 pick rate is nothing to me lol
I work at a fulfillment center in California and making rate is hard but it can be done. People who say they (Amazon) is too hard on its employees I think honestly just can't cut it. The work is fast and they let you know that from the start people catch rate easily there and even surpass it by a lot. So if one can't make it, then that speaks ion the employee trying to catch it. I don't always hit the rate a few days I struggle but for the most part I do well. Its a great place to work I love it.
yep. i work at mcdonalds and can handle it easily. i've read stories that people have had panic attacks or they just can't handle it. some people even argue with eachother behind the grill. some people are just born to work
Yes it's the same thing for call centers. Oh AHT can't be done blah blah. Just relax, do your best, show improvement and you'll reach it if you try and if you don't, then it's not for you. You speed up in doing the transactions themselves and controlling the call and not by rushing the customer. It's like that for most things really. I heard people complain about everything under the sun.
Take a good look at this video. This is the new job market in America. Slave wages, slave conditions, unrealistic management. Your days of having a honest, good paying job are long gone. The days of serfdom and being a peasant are back. The powers that be want this country to go back to the days of 1600 and unfortunately, most of us will be victims of this uber-capitalism trend.
I just had a dream that Amazon started using reusable square plastic buckets as packaging with folding lids so the used buckets could be stacked and left out for the next delivery to pickup when the buckets get too damaged or gross just recycle them
This was 9 years ago, more than likely became a fire-able offense sometime later due to accidents. Or it could be that isn't an area where the vests are required, doesn't appear to be so from what little is shown. Looks like that isn't a space that would be frequented by pit vehicles, etc.
The Amazon picking carts and stations are made from a unique custom material 80/20 Inc., the Industrial Erector Set or an Aluminum Extrusion material which can be found at www.8020.net
I do not like it when I unload a trailer and you got packages falling down because people do not know how to stack boxes properly... they just toss them in after every good stack of boxes
If there's anything you should take away from this, it's if you go work for Amazon get a hilo license. Otherwise the place is gonna take a massive tole on your body
they're not working as slaves, they're doing a specific task in the entire organisation. They're focused on that single task, that's not slavework. It's just work.
I love Anazon too. Great customer service you guys! But not everyone is probably suited for these jobs. Know I couldn't be on my feet all day or be quick enough. And give the girl a break as she's just a reporter. Sure that she was protected a bit doing her story.
Ohhhh, so she's That kind of library user. The kind that picks the book off the shelf and doesnt even try to protect its place if you want to put it back.
Everybody can see how big amazon is but they don't realize you only have 15 minutes to walk to the break room then you have a half an hour to walk to the break room and then back to your pic station then you have 15 minutes for break then if you go to the bathroom your pick numbers go down and you could lose your job so if you think this is a really good job thank again it is not worth $15 an hour I'm sorry to say this but Amazon should be unionized just like everybody else it's not worth the $15 it really isn't it's a sweatshop and I will never ever work for this company again and neither will my family. This job.SUCKS!!!!!!!👹
Does anyone who has worked there know if part time seasonal associates have the opportunity to get over time if they need or want and also are there benefits for them? What is the over time pay if regular start pay is 11.75??
silverbird58 I dare you to post one comment that Isn`t automatically negative in some way or form. You can`t because from the looks of it (your MULTIPLE negative posts on ONE single video) You simply couldn`t meet the cut, was terminated and now have a bitter taste in your mouth that can only be washed away by slandering the job itself. I have a room mate, a girlfriend, a cousin, an ex girlfriend, her sister 3 friends an a 65 year old uncle who all work at amazon. They all seem to be more than happy with their jobs, and rarely make complaints about making quota. And go figure my 65 year old uncle has managed to continue to meet Amazons standards for nearly 3 years now....and btw there is no letter "S" in the word expendable
Lol i stowed too for 3 months my rate was why too high everyone was shocked thy were asking me the secret behind this high rate . U should know how to find space and none stop work thas all
The way I do it, I usually grab the package with the most items first and put them on the main roller. I do all the open packages first and once I finish with all the open packages then I will go for all the un-open ones later that is unless the water spider guy hasn't come back to throw me some more. In terms of stowing them on the shelf, I tend to look for any open space as possible with the right size bin and often times I will scan the shelf icon before stowing them in. Of course if you're like me you had to be absolutely sure it will be able to go in there otherwise if you mess up you'd have bigger problem. Also try stowing in the center bin first if you had many smaller items, only stow on the lower bin if the item is heavy and only stow to the higher bin if the item is lite. In terms of right size bin, any items with a length size smaller than a Game Boy could go on the 6" bin, any item the length size of a Game Gear could go on the 9" bin, anything the length size of a foot long Subway sandwich could go on the 12", any item longer than that can go in the 16" or 18", those two doesn't really matter. As long as the item fit inside and not leave a ton of space, you'll do fine. Remember, always put the package with the most smaller items near you. That's how you can get quick rate. Leave the ones with the single Asin barcode alone until you absolutely had no more open packages to stow. Also stow all the lite packages first in one pod, leave the heavy ones til the end cause if you stow the heavy one early on, the pod will refuse to let you stow more due to unstable weight which will delay your rate a bit.
i used to work there, i only stayed there for the good benefits. im trans and their insurance covers most of my medical needs (hormones). i was a picker a good one, my rate was always above 360 however the quotas and goals amazon puts on their employees are ridiculous, theres no one in this world that can pick 400+ items an hour for 10 hrs straight, I was terminated bc i ran out of upt. tbh im glad i got fired haha
They call it "unskilled "work cause the claim is "anybody can do it", but lets try to see how long those people in the office last in this job and see if they can do it.anybody can do a office job too, u just gotta teach them
