This came off a lot more realistic than i initially thought it would It really does feel like im following a random family and this common hardship in life
The funny thing is there's still a story that makes sense, even though you don't see the emotions. There's a girl named Riley who grows up with her parents. They move to a new city. She doesn't fit in at school, because she's new, and gets into an argument with her parents, causing her to storm off into her room. She misses a goal in hockey, making her angry, and wanting to leave. She has a nightmare later that night, giving her the idea to go back to her hometown. She eventually realizes her mistake, and reunites with her parents, in tears because she misses home. Her parents agree, and says they miss home too. The best part is this makes a perfect story, and it would make a perfect Pixar short film.
Inside Out honestly feels better this way because it gives us room to appreciate Riley. It really reinforces the point made in the sequel that our emotions don't define us.
@@yay29823Don't get me wrong, I love the emotions. They all contributed to this movie. But ever since the sequel dropped, I realized I overlooked Riley. Hell, I wasn't even excited about her and only about her emotions until I watched the sequel. Like I said earlier, the point of the sequel was to not let our emotions define us. That helped me appreciate HER story.
Riley's parents are quite good at parenting. Of course they're not mind readers and thus limited in what they can do, but they're pretty much everything you can expect from caring parents.
Honestly it makes me jealous so much bc I always wanted my family to be like Riley’s parents. Normal, supportive, communication & healthy relationship.
@@Messy420 you're not alone. unfortunately these types of parents are much more present in films than in reality. sending you a virtual hug if you'd like I also would give anything to have a family like this
@@Messy420like the other person said, theyre more common in film so they can hopefully help be models for both current parents and model healthy dynamics for the children watching.
I think the dad was a little quick to get angry with her when she was upset at dinner. He knew full well she would likely struggle in a new environment, especially at her age, and could've tried to ask her then what it was she needed. Of course, the fact that he didn't, makes it more realistic and shows that parents aren't perfect. Better still since they made sure to really talk it out with her in the end.
The fact watching this makes me realize Pixar effectively had to write 2 films at the same time. you have the story of Riley's emotions And then you have a darker more down to earth Life of Riley and the depression that comes from change.
@@wumbomandlxthe biggest example I can think of with mulitiplr side plots is phineas and fed where you have what they’re building, Perry and doofenshmirtz, and Candace all doing different things through the episode
@SUPERNOVA0360 cause inside out is Inside/in = the inside of Riley’s head Out/outside = the outside of Riley’s head/what the world sees So within the context of this video, it’s just “out” LMAO
I love how even without the emotions you can see a perfect story. This nails the point that Rileys emotions are just that, Emotions. Theyre not controlling Riley, theyre only part of who she is.
I owned an American Girl doll named Riley who had blonde hair and blue eyes. I named her before this movie so when this released in I believe 2015, I was like “it’s my doll!”
I love how you can clearly notice something without the emotions, this actually shows that Riley was going through puberty, and pre-teenage depression. I never actually noticed that! Edit: ok guys I know already Riley didn’t go through puberty but she went through pre-teenage depression, ok? Edit 2: how the fudge did this get 1K likes this fast what the-
Movies never usually bring me to tears, unless im genuinely invested and obsessed, but everytime i watch the scene where Riley finally comes home i lowkey cry 😭😭 (Plus, i think i relate to this movie sm cause my life is literally like hers 🙃🙃)
Older makes sense considering this was 8 years ago, Disney and Pixar movies have definitely changed a lot by trying to force relationships and such like you said. I also like that Pixar movies don’t really focus on love interests and more on story
8:00 looks like riley can control herself without the 'emotions' like in this scene she looks sad even though sadness doesn't there for press those button
I'm not sure if this was what the writers implied. (Because frankly speaking I'm really kinda slow. 💀) But I always feel like the person themselves have some slight control over their emotions in their head. That's why throughout the movie, Sadness gets this strange urge to touch the core memories and has the power to change it suddenly. And then when Joy and Sadness are sucked out of HQ and Anger takes over, it's like their way of showing how being unable to express your Sadness, will make you end up expressing Anger in the end.
@@yay29823, technically speaking she kinda wasn’t since there were emotion in her head that just controlled her feelings and her actions, so in this way the human just feel like robots
At almost the end when she decides to leave, If you think a bit, there are some people that are also with no emotions by many issues and stuff, and it’s truly sad because they will stay truly emotionless by a very unknown time, those are truly blocked emotions.
Feels like Pixars short films and animated shorts. Doesn't have direct conversational dialouge more like an internal monolog type thing often reflecting emotions and events through sound and visuals. The shorts always to me feel like they have deeper metaphorical meaning than the movies.
Honestly Inside Out is really a coming of age story that has been cut up into pieces and had all the emotion stuff fit in between. None of the little world inside Riley’s head is supposed to be literal, more a metaphysical representation of the emotional changes we go through as we grow up. Especially when having your whole life changed around so suddenly like Riley had.
Imagine Riley’s voice actor thinking how this will be a long term job due to her dubbing the main character only to realize she has like 5 mins of dialogue ☠️
Its suprising how 1 hour, 21 minutes, 45 seconds of inside out shows Riley's emotions, which is suprising, because Riley and other characters only get 13 minutes screen time.
I just watched Inside Out 2 and only noticed how much Pixar his improved in real-life scenes. Like, not to say the first film's ones are bad, but the sequel's are honestly just beautiful!
Some of these scenes kinda feel like videogame cutscenes. Not in a bad way it’s just that sometimes I can see the decision boxes, the quick time events and the little butterfly “this decision has consequences” symbol in the corner. It’s kinda cool
