The FAO Schwarz section looks cheaply done...maybe only for the Holiday Season!!! I live in Toronto, Ontario and part time in Montreal, Quebec...it looks similar to the FAO in HUDSON'S BAY. SFA parent company. If I'm not mistaken does macy*s Herald Square not carry FAO stuff during the Holidays as well?! Speaking of which parts of macy*s and SFA look similar. Both renovations destroyed their once classic...elegant Main Floors...with the beautiful chandeliers, Walnut Paneling and Marble and Brass. Too much white is now used. I know it gives the impression of more space...but it is drab and inelegant. Hopefully, they will not louse up the main floor of TIFFANY & CO. People expect to see that Main Floor as it was in that beautiful 1961 Movie...I don't care what they do to the upper selling floors...leave that Main Floor as it's always been...Simple Elegance!
I feel the same way....it has totally lost it's classic elegance. I used to love all the Walnut panelling...all department stores look the same now. Where did that beautiful Restaurant with striking views of Rockefeller Centre go?!!! They did not show much of the Main Floor or Newly opened up Lower Level...probably Cosmetics, Accessories and Frangrances is my guess. However, that being said...this is still the best Saks Fifth Avenue on the planet...with what looks like ten retail floors and about 750,000 square feet!

I was just in Saks and I was absolutely SHOCKED! 90 per cent of the store was BLACK! It was as if all of Harlem invaded Saks. I wonder how that was allowed to happen. Don't they remember how all the minorities cheapened the Gucci brand? It took Dawn Mello a lot of work to rid the brand of that element and try to restore Gucci to what it once was.
