I remember when the Tamiya Plamodel Factory opened in Shimbashi in about 2010. I came home with a whole lot of spare ducting sections for my Tamiya spray booth. However the depth of stock there was not nearly as good as some of the other hobby shops around Tokyo. I bought up every conceivable Plamo tool, material and 350 kits. Shipped it all back to Australia so my model workshop is all Japanese and runs on 100 volts.
Great video impressions! I remember a puramo store in Akihabara when I was there in 2016. I think it had 6 floors and it was just massive. And full of people. I will never forget that.
G' Day David ! Ya know Mate You do a Great Job of Narrating without the Music. It's nice to hear the sounds of the Hobby Shop in a different Country. Also as a suggestion only Dave. Next time You would like to use a particular song just make sure it's in public domain and then You know that Channel won't get Butt Hurt !! LoL !! 😎👍👍👍👍
Hi matey, hope you and your family had a brill new year !! I love it mate !! Wow !! I'm like you I try to diversify with model companies but I just love Tamiya !! Plus I've never really had issues with their decals too !!! You may have it in Australia but if not I'm sure you will soon , I went to Telford and there was this new company that does decal solution !!! It's fantastic they do easy medium and strong !! I got the strong stuff and I'm not kidding but it makes the decals look literally painted on !! It's awesome stuff !! If needs be let me know and I'll send you some stuff !! Stay safe matey and your family !!
One thing that puzzles me about Tamiya is that Japan has such a rich history of vehicles, both autos and motorcycles, why isn't that a venue they've explored more? Given that so many milestone motorcycles from the four (Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha) manufacturers, they could have a whole series of product. Not to mention that in 1:12 to 1:8 scale, they would be easy for the older people to work with. Let's face it, that's their customer base.
Good old RU-vid!! Mind you, the music was not that good to be honest LOL Have fun and if you don't post any more videos in the meantime, Have a very Happy New Year!! Joe
I am in Wiltshire in England and the weather is all over the place at the moment. It was -5 C the other night, blowing 80 KPH winds last night and flooding from the local rivers due to torrential rains, but apart from that everything is fine LOL. It's like the song "Four Seasons In One Day". I understand that in Australia it is the summer at the moment, so you are probably more used to hot weather at this time of year. I am sure that the positive points of being in Japan are more than making up for the weather though. Have fun for the rest of your holidays and have a Very Happy New Year for you and your family. Joe
Is that German feild workshop all Tamyia? Never seen the Takom crane and alot of mini art tool boxes done from Tamyia in my time of modeling but maybe! Too cool detail for Tamiya tonbe totally honest they have a small crane whinch in a workshop set I've had to undertake with miniart parts still it's cool and the Rommel crew on that panzer 4 in Africa diorama I know for a fact is Master box I have the same set on my Dorchester
Yes, I think some of the dioramas have non-Tamiya elements (as you say, I also have that Masterbox Rommel DAK crew). I guess the thinking is to highlight the Tamiya armour, and the accessories are there to make it look as good as possible.
@@DavesModelWorkshop Really shouldn't do that in an all Tamyia store that even brands there own cookies haha! But saying that they do need as much help as possible compared to kits nowadays I have ordered there new Marder 1 kit to see what the brand new Tamyia line is going to be like with newer kits! They do have nice kits don't get me wrong they do fit nice but they never satisfy me completely it's like there missing something this new Marder has link and length tracks to old rubber bands I think this is going to bring Tamyia back up there with the rest of them if they sort out the track issues and start using PE
@@Emtbtoday I agree, tracks are their main downfall compared to competition. I mean, there's a load of aftermarket available, but it's not in the box when you buy it. I have to admit, I am still a proud Tamiya fanboy though!
and they are taken over from Heller (Somua) and ...idunno. I am certain they are not Tamiya's original sprues (like the Finnish tank; from EA Models in Ukraine)...
I've made one Heller kit before - it was okay, the plastic was a little "spongy". If Tamiya is using the moulds but with their normal Tamiya plastic, it should be okay I imagine.
Place the propeller blade in hot to warm water for a few seconds, then remove prop blade from water and slowly and carefully bend or manipulate blades shape. Or place a heat source near the blades (not touching) to get similar effect. Hope this helps
I was thinking hairdryer too. But be careful! Err on the side of caution, much easier to do it a couple of times than to stuff it up by going too hot the first time!
Yo, Dave! "Hopefully 'helpful' hint", *don't shoot 'walking' video, without a STEADI-CAM video camera!" Those of us, who seriously suffer from motion-sickness, would be seriously grateful! One more thing. I hope you're going to, *"show a little scale modeler love"* to the good folks at *Hasegawa!* *After all, they make some really fantastic scale models too!* Just sayin' (P.S. Please excuse the *abysmal punctuation & grammar* I'm a resident of the *United(?) States of America,* and a product of it's *"Education(?) Structure"?*
Hi Walter, thanks for the feedback. I'd love to visit Hasegawa, I really love their products as well - sadly, I don't live in Japan, this was filmed while I was there on holidays 18 months ago. I wish i could visit amazing Japanese hobby places every day! (Also, thanks for the tip re: steadi-cam)
@@DavesModelWorkshop Hello, Dave! Thanks, for the very prompt reply! I really, *REALLY, ENVY YOU!* You actually got to accomplish the *scale Modeler equivalent, of "Walking the streets of Mt. Olympus, & Asgard!"* I can't wait to see *what your next video expedition, showcases!* Keep having fun, *for all of us scale modeling enthusiasts!"*
An interesting opportunity wasted. It is almost painful to watch this video. Apparently, the camera operator believes it's OK to wave the camera back and forth, up and down, while shooting at very low frame rates. Unwatchable. Too bad.
