Piaggio p180, beautiful acft. I flew the scale "flutter model" of this plane in the Convair Wind tunnel, Lindburg field San Diego CA. Boeing Wt model design built for Piaggio . Really a unique plane.
One of the very best Turboprop in the market. #Piaggio really know how to build amazing plane which is stylish & reliable. The only problem is a bit small. I hope the next edition would be a lot bigger & spacious. That could at least accommodate 20-25 people. 🤔
Actually more … A Piaggio Avanti p180 San Diego-to-Charleston flight in 2003, piloted by Joe Ritchie with co-pilot Steve Fossett, set National Aeronautic Association and Fédération Aéronautique Internationale transcontinental speed records with an average speed of 475.2 knots (880.1 km/h; 546.9 mph), [Average over the course distance] breaking the previous Los Angeles to New York turboprop record of 395.21 knots set by Chuck Yeager in 1986. This was an un-modified aircraft as produced by Piaggio… this average speed was about 75 knots / 139 kph above the certified redline speed… 402 knots / 744.5 kph redline … certification never exceed maximum.
