Urban Exploration: Abandoned London Psychiatric Hospital
Since 1870 this property has served as a Psychiatric Hospital, from as far back to the days when alcohol was used to sedate patients, restraints were common and a lack of sensitivity to the mentally ill was captured by the name “Insane Asylum”.
Over the years, health care would progress and the province would take over mental health care, moving away from the asylum for more of a clinical and hospital like setting.
The area of this Ontario Psychiatric Hospital is in close relation to a number of others that have also been closed down, vacated and abandoned as the province builds larger hospitals with more specialized care and treatment.

I was a patient at this facility (before they closed down). I was in the adolescent ward, due to some anxiety problems. Sad to see it shut down. They provided excellent care here. There were alot of luxeries here that many older care facilities didn't have. We could play video games, had our own basketball courtyard, TVs, gym equipment etc.. Plenty of amazing staff with good therapy and tons of recreational activities. I got alot of help here for my anxiety and seeing it abandoned saddens me.

yep i was on t2 back in 89 as a teen, i hear a lot of people saying that they had bad experiences being here, but it wasn't that bad. i am betting it will differ based on your mental state at the time.

Judging from the excellent condition of the inside of the hospital and the views that the camera gives of the grounds, this video was taken very shortly after this psychiatric institute closed down. I'm quessing 2003? Maybe? In my urban exploration of this insane asylum, which occurred in around 2022 , I was appalled at what vagrants had done to the building. Many people consider the walls of this building haunted and sacred. You do not completely trash and demolish a building that many hold dear and have memories to. To do to the building what many absurdly wreckless people did to this building for years before it's untimely demolition in early 2024 ? It was utterly disrespectful.😮 And completely disgraceful. Sad that the government of Canada just abandoned it and laid all it's records to waste. Too. Which is what the government did . Too. By the way. I checked. When the hospital closed down in around the year 2000? Their were documents on the internet documenting many functions and occurrences that occurred at this hospital for years. Peculiarly though ? Those internet documents disappeared from the internet the following year ultimately. On the government of Canada's orders. I only got a chance to evaluate small portions of those internet documents. Then they disappeared on the government's orders. Strange? Why would the government of Canada order internet authorities to delete the documents? Including mistakes made by hospital authorities regarding hospital procedures over the years. What are they hiding? As far as I know? Those who do not monitor history's mistakes? They are usually doomed to repeating history's mistakes. That's a factually true statement. Proven many times in human history. Pure and simple.

I love this place and yearn to get in so badly. I feel so connected to these places for reasons I can't explain. Even the places on South Street, I'm so terribly sad to see them go. All my friends and family think I'm crazy but I'm just in love with old buildings like these.. what I would give to go in and have a look around 💗

Very cool video! Those pictures you found on the wall were really touching. I have been following you for a while now and there are so many abandoned places in and around Ontario! Could you make a post/video shedding some light on why this is?

You know if you provided some history either narrated or subtitled during the video experience still in an undisclosed location you'd probably get a lot more subscribers and views just a little bit of advice people like history and some background about the purpose of these locations with any and all types of terrifying and or stories without giving away secretes of you're current location exploring is becoming more famous then vandalising scrapping and or taggers all put together so just for a piece of mind it would help you're channel a lot people like creepy terrifying and or horror stories in abandoned places keeps the urban explorers community entrusted..!!

i am sure you did, but you have to remember LPH was built in the 1870's, so it's no wonder that a lot of people were probably in there for shit reasons.

A lot of physical and mental abuse of patients went on in these places and they had terrible hopeless lives limited to sterile walls and hostile staff. Sad.

Sure, one person had a positive experience. This hospital was built over 50 years ago and having know people that worked here, terrible terrible things have occured. Those bath tubs that they show aren't actually just for bathing. They did cruel and unusual experiments here, ice pick lobotomys etc. This place was far from sunshine and rainbows

you have no clue what you are talking about dude, i was there back in 89 on ward t2, and the staff were hardly bad people. if anything i made it hard for the staff. i am betting a lot of what you are hearing, is from people that maybe are not to mentally sound. so i am betting you were never in LPH.

@thewhiterabbit2076

ydnar slohcin yeah I have a great explanation for that because it usually takes power companies years to cut the power if ever at all.. it takes a lot of power in big buildings resorts ect.. on the power grid and has to be rerouted if they cut the supply ...usually why most places don't have power is because scrappers start cutting into the wiring sometimes resulting in death ..
