I served on a WW2 LST (Landing Ship, Tank) in the western Pacific back in the 1960's, it was 99 X 15 meters (326 ft X 50 ft.), with a crew of 100. Our berthing compartment was 2.73 meters by 6.07 meters (9 X 20 ft.) and had 5 stacks of 3 bunks for 15 men, right underneath the main deck. Living and working conditions were HELLISH in the tropics, food was poor, water tasted like it came from a public swimming pool, but the thing that made it bearable was the constant adventure of moving from obscure port to obscure port (and some really cool ones) and getting onshore liberty almost everywhere we went as we were a working ship and always busy. Comparing my LST to your ship would be like comparing a row boat to a yacht. Very impressive vessel and very interesting tour and channel...cheers and a hearty thanks to your company for permitting you to make these videos.
On the downside, it looks like modern mariners go onshore less often that they used to do. Modern ports are often far from anything, and all these security areas ... Am I right ?
As a communication technician I've been on plenty of commercial vessels, like to thank the crews from all those different nationalities for your help and support. I honor your amazingly difficult job and being away from your families.
What kind of communication tech were you? I worked for a couple of big phone companies as a tech for many years. I did installation and repair of inside and outside plant, and also as a cable splicer. I wonder if any of my skills would help in here. I have only minor experience as central office needs, most of my work was outside plant. This looks like a great ship and is well fitted out.
I sailed shell tankers in the sixties/seventies. The largest being the 200,000 ton M-boats. Interesting seeing how the crew accommodation has improved. The cabins on the M- boats of the late sixties were very good, separate cabin with bathroom, day bed and writing bureau. In its day pretty good…it’s a very long time since I’ve heard the nautical terms ..ie: Monkey island etc,…great, wonderful days of my youth
Entertainment deck is essential for sailors as being on a ship for months is not an easy task. They need some things for entertainment. My favorite part of the video is the C Deck tour and I also become a kid when I see the games. And good to see that you are now at home. 😊😊
Well done! It was really great to take your tour and see all the accommodations and work areas. You are a great young gentleman, and I thoroughly enjoyed your tour!
Had always wondered how the crew slept, ate, etc. on these large cargo container ships. I figured you had basic berthing quarters but didn't realize it was more or less a small apartment complex with everything you'd need - though for the lengths of time you're at sea, it only makes sense ;). Great video!
Karanvir you deserve to have the support that you do, well done!! Many safe travels to you and the rest of the Crew... Very informative and the manner you explain each Deck as you take us through your tour is proof that you are doing a job you love and you are where you need to be...
Thank you for another great video Karanvir! I am amazed at all the things you can do on this ship! The accommodations are really nice! Now all you need is more free time! LOL. I think your contract is ending soon. I am sure it is great to see your family and friends again! I hope you will 'take us along' on your adventures on land. ❤️
The furniture in the lounges / day rooms and even the cabins looks very similar to the furniture we had in my dorms in college many years ago. Not the most comfortable or attractive furniture, but rather inexpensive institutional furniture that is easy to keep clean and tough to break or damage, and which will remain usable for many, many years. In that sense it's great for it's intended purpose, and far better than the disposable furniture that one might buy at IKEA.
This is what i've been waiting for , now i can design the interior of my triple in a game :D you really spent yout precious time for the entertainment of us thx for that , awesome video as always
@@abhirajsingh4734 So first of all , I want to make somethings clear. 1) This is NOT my game that im developing or i own , the game is still in developmeny and this is a simulator integrated onto a platform called Roblox. 2) If you are thinking , this sim is unrealistic or unprofessional just because its in Roblox , thats not true at all . this sim here has really good models of all the ship sizes and types and these are about 70% well made as the devs revampe them every now and then. 3) the features inside the game are pretty less if you compare it with other ship sims but as i said its still in development so i think we should give the devloper a chance , by far the sim features -Panama canal system , where there are working lock systems, also the panamax size vessels can only go through like in real life. -Ship customization options, and it is here where im doing my part , there a lot of customization options in the game where you design the cabins , the decks , the toilets ,gyms, coffee machine too haha. This is what my plan is , to add detail to the ship in game i.e The triple E , hopefully i'll try to recreate it as shown in the video :)

Yeah; military ships are a totally different world. A modern cargo ship is just a box designed to mainly hold lots of smaller boxes, and the crew requirement is vastly smaller... and simple _space_ is nowhere near at a premium as it is on a warship. A handful of people to drive the ship (per shift) and another handful to do the never-ending maintenance, and that's it. The requirements and capabilities of a warship are much greater than what is needed on a cargo vessel, and shapes the whole design environment for ship builders...
What a lovely ship. It looks like they take good care of their crew. I have immense respect for those who put out to sea. I keep you all in my prayers and I wish you calm seas and good fortune 🌹⚓
Great Information and great efforts, I didn't know much about Merchant Navy but these types of videos can help Sea Pirates as shown in Captain Phillips.
Making it out at a young age is quite difficult. I started a side hustle at 17, saved up and made some good investments. l'm 28,live on my own and having a good life for myself. Big ups to you and everyone out there trying
@Hoshi Fuyo Yes it sure is. I put in money in investments and get profits. That 's how I make more money without working. This does not sound new to you right ?
Great video. Love these container ships. I'm used to Great Lake Freighters. I didn't know there were so many accommodations aboard. I collect ship hats. Does Mearsk have a web site that you can order a hat or shirt ? Stay healthy and well. Keep up with these great videos. Cheers from Sarnia Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Hello KSN👋, Please karan sir make a dedicated video on this topic in ur next video. Please make a video of ur journey from school to college....[from Tolani to Maersk😎] All about how u r passionate about ur profession. What rank u got in ur IMU-CET exam. And at last a Message/suggestion for all beginners (12th students). Now, who are going to put their 1st step in this vast Maritime world.⚓ Plzz sir make a video on it.🤗🙏 We are extremely excited to hear ur journey ❣
The video image is such high-quality. I don't think I've ever seen a RU-vid video in such high definition! Also, do you have some stabilizing device on your camera?
Excellent video, I been on a few small ships, I noticed a lot of insulation in the void and utility rooms. I thing about these ships that run in the tropics is the sleeper rooms are very chilly, I was only able to book a room with 4 bunks no climate control but really enjoyed talking with my roommate before going to sleep
Thank You for this. I spent many years working on passenger cruise ships and always wondered what the crew areas were like on modern container and freight ships. They are very similar, albeit in a different scale.
Ah this made me a little home(ship?)sick, seeing certain things and remembering being stuck at sea for days with them. I'll never forget trying to play pool in a storm in our mess.
Maersk is a great company. Congrats to be there as 2nd OF. Interesting videos you have done. I have a 14 m Sailing Yacht, just for fun. But I have a Diesel I use only for harbour or to fill the accu. Radar, GPS, Whether Plotter and other Instruments. I rounded the world down in the 40s and lower. But Pacific in a good season is more relaxing. Mostly I am in the English Channel and my harbour in Netherlands. My boat has a Saloon , 3 cabins. 2 Bathrooms and a kitchen. A small machine room. All in 14 m not 2-3 containers on your ship ! Good wind ( 6-8) she goes 12kn min. ! I can sail it alone. At lonesome places with automatic pilot when wind dont changes.. But in strong wind over 7-8 the sails are hard work if you have to change. I try to do that before the strong wind arrives.. Thanks for the videos , go on please !
Very nice video, I was allowed to watch myself in the accommodation of the BIGGEST container ship in the world 'Ever Ace'. Maybe we'll see each other in Port of Rotterdam.
That with cables on the gym is a lateral pull machine. It is good for strengthen stomach and back muscles shoulder muscles without putting compressive load on the vertibrae.
I work for one of the big 3 gaming companies (not allowed to say which) and I used to be a CSA (“phone drone”) before my current role and I remember getting a call from a navy crewman (idk which role but he was like a soldier) serving on a Royal Navy ship who wanted to play online with his friends both on the ship and back home , spent ages going from crew member to crew member until I got through to the IT guy, as their communications system was so strange and complicated & the console kept failing connection tests. Fixed it eventually but was a fun call, definitely.
I just bought a $400 graphics card to put in my desktop gaming computer so I can play Fallout 4. It was funny to see you showing it to us, considering I am working my way through the game now for the first time.
Hello sir, Hope you are doing well. My profession is HR but also I love your blogs as you are always giving details of everything that will help the people who want to do a career in the Merchant navy.!! You're doing a great job.👌 Appreciate.👏👏 Also, I want to tell you one thing, app thoda Siddharth Malhotra ki Tarah dikhte ho and he is my favorite.😍 Don't change your hairstyle as it suits you.!!👌
Thank you so much for the tour, super informative and so much more spacious and comfortable than I imagined. Yes please make a video about firefighting aboard. In the last year's there have been various fire incidents aboard large box carriers - would be very interesting what are your resources to deal with a developing fire say in one of the lower tiers of containers below decks. Again, thanks a lot for your videos! Smooth sailing and best wishes!
I'm new to your channel. Loved this video and how you explained and showed everything. Hats off to you and your crew. I wish you all safe and well. Thanks again and love the ship. Very clean. Great job!
Only just found your Vlogs and really enjoying them and finding out about your life at sea. I was lucky enough to tour container ship MV Santa Ursula, amazing time. Keep it up and look forward to more videos
In 2001 Sunita Arora from Delhi was selected for Kuwait . She was just a temp selected for stamping Bls at counter . But Rajeev Krishnan,Chennai and late Mathew Kuruvila,Kuwait found her perfect for foreign posting . Everybody was surprised .
I am so pleased, that you guys and girls are looked after so well, its so clean, so bright, and really does seem a real nice to placeto work in, its a lot nicer than some of the sh1t holes ive worked in over the years, one question, were the snooker table room :):):)
