From Tanzania 🇹🇿, growing up i had a friend called Samweli( Samuel in swahili) he used to tell us a story of how his namesake Samuel Doe was brutally killed. That got me interested in Liberian history and to this day I've read and watched many documentaries about this beautiful country. I hope to visit Monrovia in the near future. You are doing an amazing job bro, I've subscribed.
Thanks Emmanuel for bringing Bentol to the world. It has been forgotten 42 years ago. No lights, no water , no roads and there's a old hospital without drugs. My heart bleeds for Bentol. My daddy's home.
Watching from Nairobi. One day it's my wish i will visit Liberia see the building Samwel Doe was captured.Liberians never ever go that low let your past propel your country to greatness!
Thanks for giving this opportunity to us for reflection on our country Liberia. I hope seeing more historical sites and I appreciate your work, keep it up 🙏🙏🙏.
No war can be justified, the Liberia war was senseless and inhumane, and the effects of the ravage can be felt today. Liberia used to be an envy of the whole of West Africa when I was growing up in Ghana.
@@khalidtownseel5966🤣🤣🤣🤣 continue fooling yourselves that Liberia was like South Africa..that’s country has always been a tragedy. Anything America touches is never good
@@alecburgher8677 learn to differentiate between the truth and bitterness. Liberia literacy rate has always been around 50% and here you are trying to compare them with SA..Liberia is only comparable to Sierre Leone
Bentol is my home town... thank for bringing back memory Emmanuel. Even though I was just an infant when the coup took place. Bensenville is a beautiful city with magnificent scenery.
I'm a Liberian watching from Ghana. I think if some of those historical places that was being destroyed during the war can be renovated by the government it would have been better, like the one built by former president Samuel Doe in Zwedru, Grand Geddeh County.
Interesting. I remember waking up around 5am to the sound of some popping noise only to realize that there were soldiers in our yard and a coup was taking place. I lived on Capitol Hill at that time, opposite the Ministry of Information.
My father worked Tolbert under. Even the day of the Coup Etat, he was shot on his jaws. My father used to have big scar on his jaws and through his neck.
Thanks for said historic information bro! I think this is what most of our journalist need to get into. There are lots of historic site in Liberia that still need to be expose to the world through this means bro!
came across your channel through this video. you look familiar. good luck always to you. this is a wonderful documentation. the complex is worth bridges for sure. too bad religion and politics got Africans more confused than it's essences. if I'd visit libera someday, I'll sure dine with you in this house. keep up. one love.
As Africans , we should advocate for peace and dialogue to solve our challenges and misunderstanding rather than wars. The wars in Liberia were senseless and useless.
Easier said than done when the rulers amass everything for themselves and their families at the detriment of the 95% of the impoverished population. National wealth must be redistributed equitably in order to avoid conflict.
@@christopherw.nylander6210 Did the wars make poor rich? It's unfortunate you have such ignorant mindset. Majority innocent and poor people died. You have knowledge but lack common sense . If your family members were victims, you wouldn't have made such comments.
Senseless war. We ruined all the properties, designs, buildings everything. Ruined. It pained me to even think about. Any ideas the name of the artist/song song playing at the end?
Should turn it into a museum and teach educational class in computer and history of Liberia including the native kingdom prior to the free slaves coming there. All countries have oops and bumps on their history, it nothing to be ashamed of. We learn from our past and can move into a more stable and productive future. Keep moving onwards Liberia in the hands of our Mighty God you will be this great country He has call you to be. Peace and blessings.
I have never been to liberia but i watched the documentaries and read a lot about the war. It made ke swear that i will never visit the country because all i saw made me siver to my spine. God!! Siera Leone too
Thanks for the initiative.. it's a great piece of work. I have a recommendation for your team. I think you should send Communications to the people in charge of properties before visiting them. Asking for their consent to visit and film these historically essential locations for the modification and enrichment of the Liberian history. Meanwhile, asking them to make available a guide. Someone who is historically informed about such place. In that case, you would have the chance to capture an indepth and detailed presentation of the place with the help of the guide. Also considering the look and appearance of people that you include in the recording. For the sake of easy publicity and marketing reasons, make sure that you all are very well attired before being recorded. For Liberians were known as some of the best in Africa and the world at-large for elegance and class. That has to be rebirth and these are some of the best medium through which such display can be made, so please utilize it. That will make your presentation more professional, easily admired, easily acceptable and completely understandable to even people who are not Liberian but has curiosity about Liberia. Remember that what you're creating now are materials that will modify and add relevance to the Liberian history for the use of the next generation. With that being said, give it your all and make it the best you possibly can. Thanks for your understanding and we are watching.
True. I was wondering too whether they had permission to film there. I think it’s only right to go about it tht way. Again, he said family fled to Ivory Coast and other neighboring countries and hasn’t been back since or control of the abandon is out in the loop. Maybe complicated to say the least
Imagine if the vandals that took over had converted this sprawling mansion into a national monument? The government should come quickly and salvage the relics from further deterioration. It could be put to use from filming, hotel and tourism etc.
This is a shame and curse . I hope the citizens of Liberia will see and learn, it been over 40 years, Liberians and liberia are stay bad off, The country that was once talked about as the best country in Black Africa, today it is one of the worse country in Africa. Thank for the video
When people are paying real estate for these properties , it will be not be abandoned... if the real property tax becomes more than the value of the property government takes possession of the property and use it for government functions of state function...
Why are the houses of ex presidents of Liberia are deserted or abandoned. Perhaps that is a story to tell for some of us who don't know the history of Liberia
Folks, those of you suggesting to turn this ruined bldg into school, clinic, or hotel, please remember one point about properties in Liberia. Private land ownership right (foreign idea) brought to Liberia by free black American slaves and indigenous communal land ownership right coexist and run side by side in Liberia. So this property is a private property and is governed by such law. If the family do not sell it, develop it, lease it, or donate it, no one else nor the government can do anything about this ruined building and all the similar ones for Tubman, Doe, Taylor, Kroma featured on the channel
sad we all build stuff but forget to train the people around us to care for them when we r gone his descandants r here in the us. not the typical example we want to be around ... very sad
Humans needs to grow in knowledge and wisdom, like seriously, how can we be so destructive? You can remove people from power as u please, but destruction isn’t necessary at all. This nonsense has to be stopped in all nations, destruction hates, Lord help our nations please.
I swear. This destruction of properties is one of the main things tht pained me about this Liberia’s war because we ruined everything. I mean, everythin. So we have to start from scratch
It just shows how disorganized this country is, the State or the current government can still renovate the building and use it as a tourist attraction, hence making money out of it, for the benefit of the community around the same area, but an African is an African 20 to 35 years down the line, still waiting for a white man to come and tell them what to do with the building.
A 3D constructional printer manufacturing company that is Liberia National Administration Owned Through The National Housings Authority Office * This Building Is Liberia National Housing Authority Committee Manufacturer Building That Produce 3D construction printing device and storage terrain of cement or concrete * BEN BEN Liberia Housings Authority Office Building * Tolberts' Seal
Its the public property government should repare it and change it to something government use to serve the people.Jyst as we did in Ethiopia to Haile Sillase'multi billion properties
