My Grandpa had a 'Special Feature' not too dissimilar from your R2's! sorry.... had to do it. Keep in mind that your build is more amazing than anything I will ever build in my life (and I helped build the suits for both 'Deep Impact' and 'Armageddon' ) Hammer to metal is one of the truest acts any maker can do... Hot Melt glue to Metal is one of the truest acts a Hollywood "Make it Work, It's gotta be on camera in the morning" prop maker can do.... You did both in one vid. I tip my hat.
Hi Marc -- So sorry to hear about your mishap. Our biggest fear is the 2-3-2 failing on an all-metal droid. You mentioned that there was a problem with the ankle rods... When you have time, can you post more info about the ankle rod failure? Was there a problem with the tension? Did the rod actually snap or bend? Was there an out-of-sync between the shoulder controllers? Glad you repaired him so quickly before the event. EL1
The tie rod attach pin to the shoulder got wobbly. Also with the skins on he is getting heavier, and the simple metal bushing articulations have too much play to keep him perfectly upright - I need to switch to ball bearing mechanisms.
Like a Hammond Model A organ, not designed to easily serviced. ;) Looks like there is plenty of room inside for some AI technologies! haha But seriously was the tipping over a slight balance problem? Nice Mercedes starship for traveling I see too!
