Nearly all of Rhaenyra’s scenes made me tear up and she hardly says a word :(

The ending was a little weird but the best moment of the episode was Jacaerys reporting back to the queen and seemingly breaking down in front of his mom. That part had me tearing up.

I just knew Blood and Cheese were going to be in the initial episode. Rhaeneyra's one line was brilliantly chilling. Well done.

Literally didn't realize Emma only had ONE LINE in the entire episode They did a great job silently acting in the other scenes

The sound design in the blood and cheese moment was perfectly nauseating

Underrated moment: seeing the Nights Watch still be a respected and honored faction instead of the exiled criminals from GoT

Losing her father, & two of her children in such a short span of time would be absolutely heartbreaking- it's almost merciful that she didn't get to see BabyVisenya take her first breath, or grow into her own person, like she did her son - Luke is a young life cut tragically short- I can't even begin to imagine getting into that headspace; she doesn't have time to mourn her father's death, or her daughter's, but she's made focus on the usurpation of her promised throne- politics, rather than the personal - but then it all just compounds in the loss of Lucerys...

The cinematography and those large establishing shots really reminded me of early GoT, but even better. It’s nice seeing locations like the North and the Wall shown again almost through new eyes, like it’s the first time. I really enjoyed the opening scene. And seeing smaller things with the Dragons is always awesome, like Meleyes returning to Dragonstone,Syrax searching the coast with Rheanerya, and the rushed landing to reach Arrax’s wing. Love that stuff. I know it’s expensive but it makes the Dragons feel more real and less like a special effect only saved for battles or “epic” moments…I really hoped we’d see more of Jace in the north tho. I don’t know if that’s all there was but I don’t see them flashing back to it in other episodes, which kinda sucks. And as always Ramin Djawadi is a blessing to this world and it’s stories. I just hope the audience remembers that these characters are flying by the whims of their emotions, and their reactions to certain individuals, who have a constant need to prove themselves and make chaos in their wake. This isn’t GOT, this story really is about revenge and the horrible things that occur between super powers at war. There is no crumb of a happy ending for anyone we see in screen. So it could get very depressing. With no “Jon rides off into the woods” or “Arya sets sail” final note to end on. It really is fire and blood.

Man, if I could, I would watch all eight episodes right now. This show just brings unmatched levels of excitement and hype. Can’t wait to watch it all play out this season.

Cheese is basically Charlie from always sunny but Westeros edition.

Seeing Winterfell brought back good memories.

This was one of those episodes that just not only showed so many emotions, but actually made you feel all of them as well as it progressed

The opening scene was so freaking phenomenal, seeing Winterfell, the Wall, and off course Cregan Stark himself. Loved it. Emma D'Arcy's Acting is remarkable, Aegon having his fun with Tyland at the small council was so great 🤣🤣 Still pretty conflicted about Alicent and Criston as well as how Blood and Cheese was done but other than that... a good first episode. Great being back in Westeros. Bring on episode 2.

The shot panning the cribs into the frame was awesome

Excellent and very dark episode from start to finish, out of all the moments my favorite was when Cheese looks into Helena's eyes and realizes she's telling the truth, and for a moment he's more terrified of her because she's able to make that calculating decision.

Jace looks more and more like Harwin. I'm glad they upgraded the wig this season. Last season's hair was ridiculous 😅

They really said son for a son

Even one Alicent and Cole's sex scene was absolutely unnecessary in this episode, but two, one of which overshadowed Blood and Cheese? Idk how could they even come up with this when they had a perfectly terrifying scene in the book.

Emma is a force of nature. Their performance is mesmerizing.

Awesome episode. What bothered me most I think was Jacaerys's total change of haircut only in a flight's time.

The ending was traumatic 😢

I thought S2E1 was excellent. I liked it more than S1E1. I also think the intro is phenomenal! You have hooked me now. Of course I’ve read all the books. I’m re-reading them now. For all the faults of the last season of GOT especially, I love that series. It’s the only thing I’ve ever re-watched 6x. I love every single character. They were perfectly cast. I’m more excited now for this season, since I’ve watched the 1st episode. Just brilliant.

I loved watching these for the first season, and I can’t wait for more to come out later on!

I wished they sticked to the books with Cheese and Blood, with Halaena having to pick between two sons while they're awake-- only for them to kill the one she chose to save.

They will fight hard like northerners oh my God I love this show

They fucked up the cheese and blood scene. They should have kept it like it the books where the orders were to kill one of the two sons of Helena and Aegon. They snuck into Alicent's room where they gagged and bounded her while waiting for Helena (who they knew would bring in her kids to say good night to their grandma). Then they made Helena choose which one of the boys to kill. She pleaded for them to kill her instead, but they refused and even threatened to rape her daughter if she took too long to decide. She then chose her youngest son (who seems to have been cut from the show) to die, only for them to kill the older boy who was Aegon's heir instead. I think that scene would have been way better if they followed the book.

I do wish we got to see Alicent’s immediate response to hearing about Luke’s death. It was confusing at first, I kept waiting for her to be told about it, only to realize that the episode began with her already having known about it. And then for the first (I think?) scene that we see of her in the episode being her having sex with Criston was disappointing.

I hope they show what happened directly after and how Aegon messed up and unleashed a plague on the kingdom because of his anger.

please make 2 to 3 episode per week..

Attacking Helena’s children was stupid. Helena is a woman born in a prison. She didn’t like her position at all. The right offer to her, (freedom for her and her children), and she could’ve been a spy for the blacks. They could’ve used her gifts from the gods for their advantage. But now… Madness… Madness and stupidity.

One episode is far too early to tell, but this first ep was a lot more workmanlike than the artfulness of S1.

Love this series but they royally Effed up blood and cheese, it didn't make sense. A lot more clarity in the books for that part. The rest was good but they need to watch those key moments.

I find it a bit dissappointing the writers clearly favor Rhaenyra and want you to root for them. She was never innocent to begin with.

Man, no Maelor, no fake-out choice, the scene felt void of emotion compared to the book. I have faith in Ryan and his team but I can't say I am not disappointed by this.

"We kinda forgot about the regretful Aemond of the final scene of the last season, now he's totally fine with what Vhagar have done and even proud of the vengeance he got" GRRM was right about writers.

For me Helena just be straightforward pointing her son to the killers is a mercy for her son. Wrong move , the killers could kill them all. And i thought it's mercy for her son because i think she never wanted her son to be the furure king. Look at her king husband, Aegon . She thought she never wanted her son to be like his dad. So to end this possible life misery in the future of her son, she chooses to end it now.

The blood and cheese story was shot very wrongly. I'm disappointed

Good episode but pacing was a bit off. North's scenes were cut short and some emotional scenes were cut short as well.

What bothered me the most about B&C scene was not the fact that we didn't see the child being decapitated no, it was Helaena's reaction that seemed very weird I mean she should've at least screamed in horror or something watching her son being slaughtered, instead she acted like nothing was happening in front of her.

Lucerys and jahaerys both ends are so painful to watch. Both were innocent yet they paid the price for something they even remotely werent associated with😢

The episode was perfect, Cregan, Jace, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Aegon, Aemond, Rhaenys, Otto, Larys, everything perfect. And you drop the ball like that in the ending? Like really???? One of the most impactful moments of Fire and Blood and you choose to do that????? I get that Helaena is special, but you're telling me she offered a necklace for her son??? A necklace??????? That she doesn't even react when his head is chopped off??? And then you choose to follow up that scene with one where you zlso butcher Alicent and Criston's characters????? Because you have butchered them, they had 0 fans, now they are hypocrites on top of all of their previous faults. This is giving me Game of Thrones ptsd

Blood and cheese was very Underwhelming . Absolutely destroyed the emotional impact of the scene by not including Halaenas choice. And they are just walking around the castle without a care. Hyping this as the red wedding equivalent of hotd was laughable in hindsight.

The fact that people are more emotionally moved by Rhaenyra grieving over a 6 year old child getting butchered showed how they botched blood and cheese.

The blood and cheese ending could have been shown better. It was alright. I don't think they put much thought into making that scene epic. Basic looking

Why are they doing Alicent dirty?

The length the shows go to make you simp Daemon Targaryen... I mean, he was a cold.blooded assassin the whole first season, And now, because they don't want to portray him doing something abhorrent, they make it look like a mistake perpetrated by third ones. Girl, bye. I wish the show was more ambiguous, with white and black, good and bad, in both sides equal. But I feel like Daemond and Rhaenyre are pushed down my throat, even in the gruesomest events. While, Alicent and Otto are done sooooo dirty.

Disappointed in this episode not gonna lie.

All of my favorite parts of the episode involved Jace. Forget Greens and Blacks… forever #TeamStark. Then Jace with Rhaenyra.

The execution of Blood and Cheese was disappointing to me. It's so much cooler in the book. The rest of the episode was done very well though. Condal has talked about how Blood and Cheese isn't on the same level as the Red Wedding and I feel the book does present it as such. The choice in the book is just chilling and this episode didn't translate that.

I knew Blood & Cheese was coming. On One hand I can see they did the best they could without courting controversy. But on the Grander Bigger Louder Hand...Honestly? Book did it better & they didn't need to build it up as "Next Red Wedding" if this was it. The MVPs of S2 Ep1: Phia(Haelena) & Emma(Rhaenyra). Emma was Absolute Masterclass in Physical & Mainly non Verbal Performance. Phia made me care what was going on during Blood & Cheese. Two Absolute Powerhouse Performances Award Season better not Ignore.

Vhagar will be death if meleys and caraxes defeat her.

Blood and Cheese was a let down. Quite anti-climactic. The moment didn’t live up to the anticipation. Helena lacked any if so, a fight or emotion. In a perfect world, that scene should have started the episode. Much at the start went flat. For a season with less Episodes, the pacing needs to pick up. Changes are welcome but not always good.

Emma says more with her expressions and tears than the four words she spoke. She rocks it out of the park.... Now, what's with the map room being whittled down by half? The sitting rooms, bed quarters, thrown room? I thought these were established sets.... Who are the 3 sissy boys following "Magnanimous" around? Who gave Cole so mush tether that he can run his mouth when he wants and take liberties? Lots of weird shit in this opening season.. New costumes, that's for another day. But hell, it's GoT, how can you go wrong!

As far as I know Blood and Cheese ask Helena to CHOOSE the son to die where she replies to kill her instead. When she gets no choice but to choose, she chooses the younger one to protect the heir to the throne. But blood and Cheese decide to take life of the eldest one sparing the young one by telling him 'your mother wanted you dead'. That's even worse than what's shown as the younger lad had to live his entire life knowing that his mother wanted him dead over his brother. That would have been the actual, accurate count. So I was slightly disappointed and confused whether they killed the heir or not. Maybe next episode answers few questions.

Loved the entire episode. Also like how they did the blood and cheese seen a bit more tasteful than it's done in the book

Rhaenyra and Jace sharing a moment to grieve together was my favourite moment in the episode.

Daemon flies Rhaenys’ father’s dragon and Rhaenys flies Daemon’s mother’s dragon. There’s a lot of mutual respect between them but Daemon as usual has no chill

It was such a joy to go back home to Winterfell again. The emotions were at an all time high I swear And Tom Glynn-Carney (King Aegon II) was the MVP of episode 1 for me, he brought his A game to the character and I'm loving it.

The scene where Aegon The Dragoncock is relaxing with his pals on the iron throne was very well done. A few laughs before the horror

As bad as Aegon is, it’s still interesting to see he has compassion for people in some capacity. He’s still not as bad as Joffrey…….yet

Rhaenyra lost 2 children in a span of like a week… she didn’t just lose luke. Her grief is insane.

Eve Best deserves more credit for her role in the show. She inhabits Rhaenys better than I could have ever imagined. If only they hadn’t passed over her for Viserys. Emma D’Arcy is just continuing to kill it. Such an insightful and talented actress.

Absolutely horrific ending especially with that sound effect. Poor helaena , and her son hat off to pahia sagan she was amazing in that scene the sheer panic feels as she run away with jahaera ? is so well down. Im sure the audience felt intense panic as well.

The amount of pain and loss for Rhaenyra from the very beginning is heartbreaking and she bottles it all up. Loosing your mum, loosing your best friend, painful labours and still borns, her fathers death, dealing with the death of her children’s father, Daemons abuse, Luke’s death, having to cover up the fake death of her ex husband, loosing her family home and the crown. My god it just keeps getting worse for her.

The opening scene with the raven flying back to Winterfell then to the wall, back to Jace and Rhaenyra. King Aegon wanting to show his son and heir the ropes at the beginning with the exterminators with rat traps in the background foreshadowing what was coming. That final scene with Helaena and the little ones and her previously saying she's not afraid of the dragons, but the rats. Welcome back House of the Dragon.

This episode sucked, show is turning in to parody of itself, thanks to mediocre writers.

i thought rhaenyra finding luke's cloak and the remains of arrax was heartbreaking, but them sharing a moment was the breaking point for me 😭
