The Harilelas, who moved from India to Hong Kong in the 1930s, made their fortune selling textiles to British and American forces during the second world war and then the Korean war. They subsequently developed a thriving tailoring business and went on to establish a hospitality group with properties in Asia, Australia and Europe.
Believing in the strength of family, the Harilelas live under the same roof in their 25,000 sq ft complex in Kowloon Tong. Built in the early 70s, the structure is a sprawling mansion housing more than 90 people, evenly split between family members and staff.

In the late 70’s I lived across the street from the Mansion. I always wondered what it was like inside. Beautiful

Dude, the Harilela are well-established business moguls in Hong Kong with ties to China, specifically Guangdong. They being Indian of origin makes no difference, and they can speak Cantonese. Why wouldn’t SMCP positively report them?

A *Hong Kong* news channel, posting about Hong Kong people of all creed and color. How it should be. SCMP has become biased toward China since Ma's takeover but elements of it remain true to HK

Infinite Films But this channel does post positive videos about China Actually it’s a mix of Positive and negative videos So you can’t say that this channel is biased

I was very fortunate enough to have been a guest back in the mid-80s along with several others that worked at the American Consulate in Hong Kong. The food that was served was delicious!

I used to see this mansion on my way to school by bus. Always wondered who lived there and how their lives could be so different than mine.

My friend's family (Thai-Indian) sold them the Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok years ago and I know this is going to sound crazy but I felt that they were kind people just from eating the buffet there and sees that they put soft drinks dispensers in the buffet with no additional cost. No other hotels in BKK does this at that price.

They are always a dream for anyone I've only often read about them But it's a fanciful notion for anyone. To have a large family and have them all together, bound during thick and thin, shoulders supporting one another
