It is not traitorous, just a costly mistake.. there should be an enquiry to establish the facts and whether the individual making the decision is culpable or not. Acting without contemplation is usually going off half cocked and dangerous. At the level of a general most of his time should be spent thinking, not acting.

I agree from over here in America where we have more guns than people in my family to use at once with every appendage. I don’t think Israelis would use them for harm but just to protect themselves. After Oct 7th I’d say it’s a must. I’d say it’s the first thing the government should do is teach them all how to use a firearm and get them all guns. @evamarie29 When I was in Israel in the 1980s I was amazed that most of the soldiers came home for Shabbat every week, even when they were fighting in Lebanon. On Friday afternoons the buses were full of young soldiers coming home, all exhausted and fast asleep. Shabbat and YomTov (festivals) is what makes Israel unique but it's a real weakness in military terms.
