I think the greatest scandal is that the numbers do not seem to be chosen randomly...but they can be known before the lottery takes place. Lottery is a major scam on its own.

EVERYONE who bought tickets should be REFUNDED EVERY DOLLAR then SUE the LOOTTO for every penny left.

I have not bought a lottery ticket in at least 20 years. I thought the lottery was still being chosen by balls in a dome. So the moral to this story is not that this guy figured out how to scam the system but the scam is the system itself. There is no wonder why the payout gets so high every now and then, I know why, if a computer picks the numbers and the computer knows the numbers of every ticket sold then it can be programed to not pick any of those number combinations, having no winner the supposed payout rises. I am also sure that the easy pick or computer pick is rigged the same way, in that it does not give out every number combination, so the odds are far greater than that is advertised. In a ez pick situation, the computer should never give out the same number sequence during a drawing. What I am saying is the ez pick gives a million people the same number in different states, those people will never meet to compare the ez pick tickets and the computer that does the drawing can be programed not to choose those numbers on the day of the drawing, thus making the odds of winning instead 10 million to 1 it makes it 100 million to one. I am so glad that I haven't wasted my money on this scam. With the 426 views this video has gotten, I don't think many other people will learn of this scam either.

Sounds like an equally sided scam by the lottery commission as well. Aren't the lotto balls supposed to be random? How is it that certain numbers come up on certain days? I think this exposes the lottery to be a scam as well.

I've always suspected that lotteries are tipped in favour of the house rather than the player. More so in recent years of custom software & algorithms. The other hint is, the top prize is never won weekly, instead constantly jackpots to an insane amount of money.

how do we know that the lottery has big time winners at all? Think about it. the lottery has had people anonymously win when there may be no winners at all and they simply keep the money.

A) who the hell thought it was a good idea to have a computer be the deciding factor in drawing numbers in the first place? That's like daring someone who understands code to hack the system. B) Fatass Lex Luthor couldn't have found a homeless dude to buy the ticket for a hundred bucks, a bottle of whiskey, and a bus ticket out of town? C) Dude might've been a genius in figuring out how to rig the game. But he was an absolute shithead when it comes down to being a criminal. He could've found literally millions of people who'd be willing to pay him a substantial percentage of the cash in exchange for the winning numbers. What where they going to do, rat him out while simultaneously ratting themselves out? ... or vice versa.

It's pretty pathetic that someone would stoop to that level. I'd like to win the lottery too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to seek devious means to do so! I'll just buy a ticket like everybody else and hope for the best!

Glad he was caught but makes you wonder which other programmer out there isn't doing the same thing but on a smaller scale that not doesn't garner so much attention. Reminds me of a case several years ago when a programmer did something similar with bank deposits. I think he had programmed it to divert less than 1% off each deposit to his account. Less than 1% doesn't appear like much on its own but think of thousands of customers on a daily basis.

Anyone who works for a govt agency or private company that administers a lottery should be prohibited from playing the lottery, and so should their family members. Otherwise, you're going to get insiders trying to rig the system like this guy did.

Nobody is allowed to win. That was the first clue. The only honest lottery is the one where a computer network does not know your chosen numbers before the draw.

Or maybe the whole lottery Company is a scam and when they got caught they decided it's better to put it on one person instead of the whole Company. Better one person go down then the whole Company. I'm never buying the lottery ticket again. Seems like they already picked winners who brings back the money to the company.

This points out a flaw in the Lottery System. There is no control or independent verification of the software. They do not follow the Formal Software Standards established by the industry. What they should do is have at least three independent groups. One first group is the only group allowed to modify and do maintenance of the source code. Each new version they create has its own unique Identification Number. A second group maintains the archives of the previous versions of the software by this unique Identification Number but is not allowed and does not have the tools to modify the software. A third group is the only group that does not even have the Source code (so they can not make any unauthorized modifications to the software. This group has only the executable version of the software and is the only group allowed to actually install the software given to them by the archivers. If you have three independent groups, there is less likely a central point of failure.
