People just like being contrarian, Wemby has a lot of hype around him so any opportunity to go "well actually" will be taken.

Hype and national pride. Wemby leads rookie in 4 out of the 5 major stats, both ppg and total, while he played less games and less minutes. Chet is more efficient offensively but that's the only pros he has imo. "Surprisingly" now winning seems to be the best criteria for the ROY race while it never was before.

I stopped watching after MJ retired.... Came back for the Mavs championshipo run. So i totally gladly skipped the wrost time in the NBA. Came back again just for Luka knowing what he could already do in europe. And now Wemby. I must say I still hate the 0 defense approach, the travelling of the league. But we have now talents at their peak like Jokic and Giannis and young bloods that trully amazing like Luka and Wemby.
