@@TpDgreat People would still complain about that because there are already stars on the Lakers' court. They are at the center around the logo, one star for every championship.
thats why they put it beside the oldest one so nobody living will complain.Imagine if they put it right beside Shaq and Kobes banner. Its disrespectful to all that legit banners hanging up.But guess what that's what people do for LBJ, lower the standards so he could catch up.
I tried to defend Lebron on this one but sadly I can't 😢. You all Right. He literally trying to use this like a Ring. Sad day😢. I think Lebron should retire at this point. Next they be hanging up pick up game wins banner. Yeah Lebron pack it up. Your reaching now.
LITERALLY THIS 😂I'm sorry but sometimes the jet's engines be stalling or something. Dude takes an hour to liftoff just to end up staying at the airport
I don't think you'd have heard anything from Kobe, he would've straight up lower the IST ornament back down and toss it in the trash once the season was over. lol
The Lakers organization is notorious for their high standards. At crypto arena, staples center, they only put championship banners for NBA titles that they've won. They don't hang division titles, conference titles, only Larry O'Brien championships.
The IST just came about this year. It was a huge success so it'll be around for years to come. Who knows what significance it'll play in the future. To disregard it because it's new is asinine. The 3pt shot, counting blocks, even the finals mvp were all new at some point. So to players who didnt have a chance to win those awards, those things are asinine. For example Hakeem is the all-time leader in blocks, but is he really? Bill Russell won 11 titles in 13 years, yet has no FMVP awards. How much do you think that award means to him?
@@simonhowell4486 "huge success" by what measure? They play regular season games on a different color floor, with a one off "finals". There's no added difficulty, there's no seeding, no group stages. It's meaningless in terms of proving anything other than the NBA needs a way to try and get players and casual fans to take the regular season more seriously. If it were an actual tournament in addition to the regular season, then it would be something. Soccer leagues across Europe have multiple cups and trophies each season, and they are all perfectly valid competitions that stand on their own merit. If the NBA made the Summer League count for something, THAT would have a more valid claim to being an achievement, because it's wholly its own thing, and an actual tournament separate to league games. This was just a bunch of regular season games the NBA said they'd randomly call a tournament. Can you really not see how it's basically just a marketing gimmick? And what's next, play-in tournament banners? At least that's genuine knockout play.
i love how dedicated kenny is to being the hole of the show. hes so scared to ever say what he really feels. such a politician talking without saying anything
You know Shaq’s hilarious when the staff behind the cameras are laughing their socks off. The Celtics and Lakers put up Championship banners and not division banners or “in-season Championship flags.” 🤦🏻♂️
I'm glad the Lakers did so anyways. If the Pacers or Pelicans had won instead, 100% sure they would've hung up a banner as they barely have any. Lakers putting up one says they don't think they're "too good" to do so and want to help the NBA create a legacy.
You don't get it, do you? Remember when they won the play-in tournament a couple years back? All that celebration they got mocked for? It's the same with this. The point is, if you win a meaningless tournament, if the lakers got a banner, the Timberwolves should've too.@@whatwhat9004
@@whatwhat9004 he talking bout from a few years back when he was with the Wolves and the celebrated winning a playoff series. That is more impressive coz its actual playoff basketball and a series
The funny part is that lebron stans were clowning pat for winning a game that secured a playoff seed.. yet they wanna praise a banner for winning reg season games in nov and dec 😅😅 only they can make this type of stupidity up
@@Rodrickwashington-mf5dkright? These clowns really think everything is about Lebron 😂 bro was probably the first person to tune in the the IST finals game now he in his feelings
Kenny is stuck trying to defend the indefensible. No one makes a big show of MINOR achievements and that's what the Lakers did. They made a big deal out of something that's not much bigger than a participation trophy compared to an actual NBA championship and they hung it up right next to their actual championship banners. Embarrassing.
@@bachelorgoosy9145 Learn some history, genius. The practice of hanging banners from the ceiling has been around for centuries and can be traced back to various cultural and historical traditions such as the Medieval times, where large tapestries and banners were often displayed in castles, cathedrals, and other grand buildings. These banners were used to depict noble coats of arms, religious symbols, or scenes from important events. These banners were often hung from the ceilings of halls or meeting rooms to showcase the power and prestige of the organization. Hanging banners from the ceiling has also been associated with military and heraldic traditions. Armies and noble households would display banners and flags to represent their identity and allegiance.
@@Zagirus Mate, this is basketball not some medieval House or castle. Why do you think I don't know the origin of banners and why do you think that would change my mind?
The banner represents what it represents it's not trying to be what it's not. You guys are brainless and trying to make more out of this than what it is. It represents the fact that they won the in season tournament that's it. Good job, lakers.
@@kangjames2492You're missing the point, it being that it's cringey and kinda sad that they put that up there next to the real banners lol. They shoulda had the cup in a display glass or something
@@juanordonez5667 It would only be sad if they didn't have any NBA championships. People are to sensitive. Everyone knows what it is, what's the problem. They won the first one ever, which will always be. If it was Kobe, everyone would be cool about it. People need to toughen up. Toi much feminine sensitive energy these days. It must be in the water!!!
@@kangjames2492 Everyone understands what it is man, but it just comes off as cringey. It's the same as a hanging up a banner for the play-in tournament lmao
@@juanordonez5667 I don't see the issue. If we know what it represents, then what is cringe about it. They aren't trying to fool anyone like its the actual NBA championship banner, they have a lot of those. With the way some are acting about it, they might as well cancel the tournament and go back to the boring early season we've always had.
"it's a great accomplishment"...holy hell, this really is the level the NBA is at this moment in time...and it's because of 1 man only, who cries the hardest...you people definitely know who that is.
It should just be one banner that should rotate to the new winner every season have it signed by nba legends to give it some value for teams to have it hang in their arena.
2:20 LOL.. EXCUSE ME, what Kenny talking bout. Shaq won plenty and he making fun of it. Kobe once said "The Lakers don't hang Division titles or Conference titles, they hang Championships". Other teams hang that crap.
As a Laker fan, the feeling I have is similar to when they tried to pour champagne on Kobe after his last game. He was like that’s for Championships. If they wanted to celebrate in-season tourney then they should have done it in Vegas club scene. Lakers standard is different. Other teams it would be okay for them to celebrate this.
For Kobe, the sacrosanct grail of victory was never found in the lesser skirmishes. His eyes, ever on the horizon, scorn the petty trophies that would dare dangle before him. His legacy - a constellation ablaze in a sky that rejects the dim glow of lesser stars-shines with the ferocity of a comet, undimmed by the trappings that enamor those who find solace in shadows.
Honestly I hate the Lakers but love Kobe, theres a clip of him saying " we don't raise division banners, conference finals banners only championship banners" For a historic franchise like the Lakers its embarrassing to celebrate this meaningless tourney.
As a life long Lakers fan this IST banner is not something i can really take seriously .. or no more seriously than if they hung a summer league championship or G Legue championship banner
As a die hard LAKERS FAN I must say in all honesty F that banner.. and trophy get the Real one that matters I'm happy y'all got a half a million dollars richer but in the words of the great mamba "The job isn't done"
It's not a banner. It's a cash cow towel. NBA gaslighting fans and they've got TNT to conspire with them. They even got Lebron and the Lakers to echo their lies. Kudos to Shaq for not sucking up to the suits.
Why's everyone acting like the banners are even the same? The IST one will have all subsequent IST wins on the same banner, each win doesn't get its own like the championship does. It still keeps championship wins much more significant.
What sickens me is they are trying to make the 7 game IST to be the same in value as a championship which consists of over 100 games. Not worth the same. If you win 14 ISTs in your career then maybe they can say that they all combine to equal one championship but even that is stretching it a little. What's next turning pre-season into a tourney and having a banner made for the winners of the pre-season tourney?
yo i don’t watch ball like that anymore this the first segment i caught since last season and i’m literally crying laughing 😂😂😂 shaq wouldn’t tolerate it for not ONE SECOND 😂😂😂😂😂
@@FatboyReg 🤣🤣🤣 you mean the Mickey Mouse tournament did you watch when they raised the Mickey Mouse banner hardly anyone was clapping it was quiet 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 but if your happy I’m happy
I think its fine. Its only weird because its the first one, but all the years go on the same banner. So in the future teams with multiple In Season Tournament wins will still only have 1 banner, just with lots of years on it.
@@Ninjersey1go do research on how they made the schedule for the in season tournament😭it ain’t lebrons fault the grizzlies best player decided to wave a gun on live or that the suns best players can’t stay healthy🤷🏽♂️
Considering the prize was $500,000 for every player on the winning team and the runner-ups prize was $250,000 for every player vs. the NBA Championship rings which could be as high as $150,000, those kids can buy 2-3 rings and give it to themselves lol.
The NBA has become a circus! Such an embarrasment not only did they obviously rig the tournament so we could win but then raise a damn banner like we did something special?? Since Lebron has come to LA its been nothing but a clown shown day in and day out!!
I saw this from someone else before but I think it’s a good point. MJ and Kobe would’ve been going hard to win this and no one would have taken anything from them for winning it.
Skap Attack made a perfect analogy on this IST, even tho this is a good idea on the NBA to bring some excitement to the NBA and to motivate players to play, this is still a 100% embarrassment. This new era of NBA is just embarrassing to watch, the players are premadonnas, full of themselves, jacking up threes, etc.
I gotta agree with the Laker legend Shaq you don’t raise no banners for a in season game that’s an ornament. The real championship are in purple and gold.
Wow chuck really got forced off the air today because of what he said he would do. This shows you the Js really do run things with the nba and not even chuck is above them.
