Stuart Ramsay is the first journalist ever to be allowed inside Al Internado Judicial de Carabobo prison, just a few hours away from Caracas.
Guns, sex and drugs are readily available to inmates in this notorious Venezuelan jail, where "the prisoners are in charge".
One of the inmates - flanked by an entourage of armed "bodyguards" - makes $5500 every week.

Usually, they come as leave as they want, well the bosses do! but most have better living conditions in prison than outside...I went to Caracas after 8 years and the whole infrastructure looks like this prison, just a few exceptions...but buildings that use to be all modern are falling to pieces, there's no money to waste on keeping things looking good so the city looks old in a way I can't explain...

Damn... that's rough. Thanks Sky News for reporting on this. We wouldn't have known this otherwise. Prisons are supposed to be a sort of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. But with conditions like these, it's probably detrimental to their mental health. I don't see how they can contribute to a failing economy after prison.
