The Ojude Oba Festival is a renowned cultural celebration that takes place in Ijebu-Ode, a historic city in Nigeria. This is an annual event held to honor the Oba, the traditional ruler of the Ijebu kingdom, and to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
I'm glad I am able to share this detailed explainer and mini travel guide with you. Hope this sheds more light on this amazing event that happens only once a year and looking forward to next years event which would be more amazing.
Please check out the short cinematic film I did on this festival too.

One of the most beautiful part of this regeregbes is that they contribute massively to ijebuland each year...this year they donated to ijebu-ode general hospital, built boreholes in different ijebu communities, renovated school calssrooms, built public toilets..etc The history of ojude oba is more than fashion and merriments...it started about 131yrs ago to foster religion unity amongst the ijebus bringing ijebu descendants together irrespective of beliefs during the era when the white men came with Islam and Christianity.... Kudos to Niyi... didn't even know Niyi sef na Omo ijebu on his mom side...eweso Omo iyemi😂❤

Yoruba is a rich, diverse and amazing tribe. There is the culture and then the language consisting of various dialects. The Yoruba tribe and its influence extend through Nigeria, reaching as far as Togo, Benin and beyond. The yoruba people are very accommodating and they are most keen to teach a foreigner their culture. I was privileged to have lived (my formative years) in Ijebu land and my time there was memorable. I remember having only one aṣọ òkè material as a child which I guarded jealously (the material is so beautiful, yet fragile, requiring tender care). Yoruba has an intriguing culture. I am happy to see a grand display of that in this video. It brings back fond memories! ❤
