Yeah, it was kind of a tough one. Needs to slow down a little and let Andy finish his sentences/questions. That ontop of the slurring made it a lil tough to listen. Sometimes its fine, but if you're gonna interrupt/cutoff someone, you gotta say something with substance and not just repeat what you say.
I was in kindergarten and we watched the Challenger explosion live. We were so young that we really couldn’t understand the gravity of the situation. My teacher just turned the TV off and we went on with our day. A friend of mine ended up playing the part of the teacher’s daughter in the made for TV movie. Great episode as always. Andy does a great job at making his guests feel comfortable and allowing them to tell their story.
I was in 2nd grade and watched it live from the beach on a field trip. I believe it was Cocoa Beach but it could have been Titusville. we were ushered back into vans in a hurry
I knew next to nothing about what the secret service actually does or how it was even created, this was a great episode and Mark seems like he was one of the best agents Andy could’ve got on the podcast to do an episode. Really enjoyed this one.
Another entertaining episode, Andy! Can't help but think Mark would be more "revealing" when he no longer is an active member of the Secret Service. Loved when you broke his balls about being a little nervous about the podcast 😆
I was driving out the back gate of Sub-Base New London when the Challenger explosion happened. I recall in vivid detail everything that took place in that moment and the next few hours. A few months later my boat and its' crew had our own "experience" to never ever forget (thankfully, we lived to tell the tale if so inclined).
I was in 7th or 8th grade, in Mrs. Tolsen’s English class and we watched it blow up. She said, “well that wasn’t expected” and turned the TV off. Then she said, “get out your text book and spiral notebook.” A middle school has never been so quite.
Fun Fact. Today, which is one day after this episode aired, the Secret Service came to visit a certain "Andy Stumpf" and the "Cleared Hot Podcast" crew after SOMEONE thought it would be a good idea to "theoretically question" the Secret Service guest about Presidential "accidents"....... lol. #LIVEANDLEARN Love ya buddy!
Andy great job trying to calm his nerves as its clear he’s out of his element and maybe hopped up on a few espressos, your talent as an interviewer is very impressive!
Andy- that police officer who dropped during the attempt on Reagan was Thomas Delahanty. Hinckley hit Delahanty in the back of the neck with his second shot causing him to drop. Luckily Delahanty was able to survive with no long lasting effects.
Can't wait to see Michael in the mask! It would be hilarious to have him grill an unsuspecting secret service agent about the kennedy assassination whilst masked. "Where's Andy? What's with the mask? Why aren't you wearing any pants?"
Lee Harvey Oswald did act alone, and he did get off the round that hit Kennedy in the throat and Connolly. However, the headshot was an ND from the USSS car behind him. It’s an interesting story; new weapon (AR15), unfamiliar agent out of place because the other guys were drunk the night before, etc. It totally explains the bizarre behavior of the Secret Service in hustling Kennedy’s body out of Dallas.
Got to spend some time with Secret Service when POTUS 43 visited the JSA in Korea. Pretty neat to get a glimpse at that world. They were all squared away from what I saw. The President somehow became separated from his flight jacket on that visit, so I gave an Agent a high speed ride in my humvee to the pad (our PT field) where Marine One was patiently waiting to depart. Good times.
Was AF for 26 yrs and spent half of that as crew on an SMA and there were never any free meals (aka box lunches). We all had to order and pay for them from the Flt Kitchen. I think I still have a flt kitchen menu floating around LOL *Except for missions, we had airline style frozen meals to heat in the galley area.
This dude mentioned Ant. A boss. That was my step dads cousin. Started with fbi during vietnam then finished career with secret service. Drove a lot of presidents. Guess who his least favorite first ladies were?!?!
Sorry bro but I had to turn the speed on the audio waaaaay dowwwwnnnnn slow. If this cool dude was involved in or witnessed a tragic accident. Every radio in the department would be red hot smoking.
Best explanation of the JFK assassination BY FAR is the one detailed in "JFK: The Smoking Gun"........seems very logical to me........from the AR negligent discharge......to the jump seat config explaining the "zigzag" bullet path. Plus it does not discount Oswald being there and was shooting to kill........but the headshot was pure secret service ND. Just my $.02
The odds of a secret service ND on the same day a man was shooting at him from the window? No way. If you believe an AR shot killed him, the SS would have been involved. The other issue that I have is that I've head shot several hogs and deer with a 20 inch AR and it's never caused the damage to their skulls that Kenedy had. Animal skulls are quite different though.
The guy they were talking about jumping played on my college football team for half a season before he got kicked out, guy slammed a police k9 before apprehended, he was a compete schizophrenic. Scary guy.
When I was a federal agent and lived in Maryland, my next door neighbor was a USSS special agent assigned to the PPD (against his will) for the Clintons. You have to get this agent drunk. That's when my neighbor would tell me the stuff I wouldn't even repeat today.
Dude he must wear the mask! You already said Yes😮😮I! Mark, you can not! Can not! Retract your already agreed upon obligation. I will buy your first 5 books. Come on whose matching my offer or beating it?! Let’s go Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark!
As usual Andy brings his unique style to podcast. The questions I would have asked in regards to Clinton/Lewinsky is does any person have access to the president on the White House grounds without being vetted or being seen by SS entering a secure room or location where whore potus is located. My guess is absolutley not. A member of PPD knew every time she was with potus. But I understand the no win situation the agents were in. There are many books by retired agents explaining these situations in detail. Great pod Andrew.
I'm a big Andy fan girl (well, fan great grandmother) and I love the guests he has. I'm going to preface this next question with the disclaimer that I'm, in general, an idiot, but.......why couldn't they just push/ram the limo from behind and get it off that hump? Or is that too indignant ?
Dude I understand that it’s hard keeping your adrenaline on a knife edge but that’s not what needs reforming in law enforcement 1. PBA’s & Unions that give them special additional rights not granted to any other citizen 2. Protections and rights given them by SCOTUS statements and not legislative law. 3. Transparency when it comes to what LEOs have the legal responsibilities and rights to do and not to do.
Please let your guests talk and tell their stories. Still early in your podcasting career but your doing the “talk over the guest” and “telling your story” instead of listening. Talk timers help. They’ll let you know how much time you talk vs your guest.
Love the production value of the podcast. Feels like Joe Rogan for the 2A community. One critique: Andy, please stop cutting the guest off mid-answer lol
There's around 90 agents on the PPD iirc and only a few of those are in close enough contact to actually speak to the President. It's not unusual I don't think.
@@debrafisher7373 Call me old fashioned, but 5 years and being close enough to pass him on the way to a leisure activity in the whitehouse gym. calling bullshit on that. Even a basic security guard deserves respect
I worked at the White House Communications Agency for awhile (basically just guarding comm equipment the President brings along while travelling). There are SO.MANY. people around the President all the time he'd have to make an effort to get to know/remember any one individual. Some Presidents do, and are some don't.
While wearing the mask I think he should be sitting it the F chair the George Clooney built in the movie Burn After Reading and it can be controlled remotely by Andy.
