Nice Video, i have the Tonelux since the unit hits the market and still love it today. I have it in the mixbus and always a very useful and musical EQ.
This is really really great video. Your channel is amazing too. And the best thing is, you always respond every comments and questions no matter how busy you are. Cheers Greg!
+Greg Wurth Nice! I know that when I was starting out, I had not a single clue how to do that and nobody on RU-vid ever posted any info on it! It would help many people out! Thanks Greg...
Of the 3 I'm really into the Equalux. It's a little more aggressive sounding to my ears, but I'm not afraid to do some sculpting on my two buss. That HPF mode from the TK would be incredibly useful though. Combine that feature with the sound of the Equalux and you'd have my dream buss EQ.
How would you compare it to some of the actual API EQ's you have? It's actually been on my wishlist for quite some time. I was also considering a pair of 550b's for my mix buss.
+Greg Wurth Awesome. That's good to know. Thanks for the tip. If you're an API fan you should check out the CAPI stuff if you haven't already. I sold all my modern API pres when I built some VP26's/312/28's
Great Video! These eq's have a very different personalities and they are very useful! Actually i'm using the the bx_digital V2 (brainwork) and Manley (UAD) plugins for this application. The idea of a video about how get outboard gear in and out of daw... it's great too!! I wanna slowly moving out of the box into a hybrid setup and i've a lot of doubts. best, Renato Pimentel
Great review Greg! Hey, whats your take on the A-Design Hammer (if you have used one)? I'm on the fence between getting the Tk-Lizer or the Hammer. I already have a nice vari mu tube compressor (IGS Tubecore) with M/S, so I'm leaning towards the Tk-Lizer for the Bax style eq. Any thoughts you could provide would be helpful.
thanks for the demos! each unit has some cool features. that 500 series maybe modeled after an ssl? don't they have a similar multiply and divide thing going on with the mid bands?
+Greg Wurth oh cool, interesting. Well thanks again for the demo, and I have to say, I'm really glad I found out about the TK-Lizer from you. It's likely I'll pick one up asap.
i leave a suggestion the eq 1 shines in Vocals and Bass material, i use it a lot as a first eq on vocals (soul, hiphop, kind)with the mpressor doing a setting as a d esser style prog. ... gives a nice colour and control i just had 60hz and sometimes shelv 12k before the impressor in impressor use a bit 0.5db tilt 200k or 100k... use a fast preset comp with in max 2.5 db comp at 1.5:1 or 2:1 ratio it really shines there controls very well the highs of the vocals with a great soul colour and faten´s a bit also...
+Greg Wurth definitely, another unrelated note. I heard your interview where you stated you never use faders when mixing. I stopped using my faders (unless im tracking) altogether two years ago... I wonder if this is becoming common practice, but it definitely is a great workflow. :::thumbs up:::
