Cookie tables are an economical way for friends and family to help with the wedding.

What a wonderful tradition! Thank you for sharing this with us. I may have to move to Pittsburgh just for the Wedding Cookie Tables!

Even better, start spreading the good news where you are! No reason a magnificent tradition like a giant table full of cookies at a celebration should be stuck in just one place ❤

I know the group sent cookies to the community of Uvalde after the tragedy, the cookie table is for more than just weddings. It's for all celebrations, even the sad ones.

The cookies are usually representative of the culture of the families marrying- pizzelles are Italian, kolache are Eastern European.

I hear you I'm 73 & never heard of this either. I have heard of a desert or candy table. But how much sugar do guests need that are drinking alcohol ? ? ?

A decade older but wedding are truly becoming insane. Fewer couples are getting married, 50%+ are divorced. But the ridiculously high cost in this economy is even worse. The more I see couples starting out & going deep into debt is silly. Wait until the 5 year mark then throw a big celebration. With the $2,000-10,000 price of wedding gowns & cost of rings again it is insane. But again I go back to how many sugary treats do a wedding need. If this is for a goodie bag or favor but really. I guess I just don't get it. We did a cookie exchange @ Christmas.

@@judiclayton4409 During the depression in Youngstown OH and Pittsburgh PA, many couples couldn't afford to have wedding cakes. They had friends and relatives help them bake cookies instead of having a cake.

@@judiclayton4409 A lot of guests bring ziploc bags and tupperware to take cookies home with them.
